Is it just Pitt Bulls we're getting rid of? My friend has a Rottweiler, sweetest damn dog I've ever met but sometimes they get a bad rap as well.

2012-10-12 11:27:20 PM
Yes, yes, we know:
- Pit bulls are great dogs. They're just misunderstood.
- This is a case of the media misreporting the breed, and it was really a couple of chihuahuas.
- Pitbulls would never hurt anyone.
- The cops over-reacted.
- It's the owner's fault.
- My (insert name of relative here)uses his/her pitbulls to babysit his/her babies.

Etc etc etc.

Sarcasm aside, they really can be pretty cool dogs. Until they're not.

When we were adopting a puppy from the pound we brought over our other dog to see if they would get along. Maybe you should do a "meet and greet" with the dogs instead of writing off the entire breed.

Just remember, when your beloved Pittie looks up at you so sweetly and longingly it's actually measuring the distance from his mouth to your throat.

2012-10-12 11:46:06 PM
I love pit bulls, but you have no business having animals in an apartment when it's against the lease. The landlady had the law on her side, on this one. She needed to use it. The boy's family has a case against both the landlayd *and* the tenant, I believe. The tenant does not have a case.

It's not just about bad animals versus good animals. Having pets is a damage issue, whether it's a poodle, yip yip chihuahua or an irish wolfhound.

The tenant claims she was keeping the pit bulls for her boyfriend, who wasn't there. This doesn't sound like a Nick Santino case, where the lease allowed pitt bulls and then was changed with new owners. This sounds like someone who signed a lease and agreed not to have pets, bringing pets in anyway.

The boyfriend had no business asking the girlfriend to keep his two dogs. Where was he living, anyway?

So I'm going to amend what I said earlier. The boy's family has a case against the landlady (for letting the dog loose), the tenant, and the tenant's boyfriend. The tenant and the tenant's boyfriend do NOT have a case against the landlady.

Dudley_Nightsoil: Just remember, when your beloved Pittie looks up at you so sweetly and longingly it's actually measuring the distance from his mouth to your throat.

The dog's not at fault. Four to one, these two dogs were not trained and this was a ghetto situation. Come on, boyfriend? two pitt bulls? an apartment? And read this part of the fking article:

"A 17-year-old boy who lives in the home where the dogs had been kept managed to get them back inside, putting the attacking dog in a cage and tying the other to a radiator with a leash, police said. But when police arrived, the dog that was tied up broke free and attacked officers, who shot and killed him, Fegan said."

Only one of the dog's has a cage, and the other one has to be tied to the radiator with a leash????? Again, these were not trained dogs.. at least, not trained in the behavioral school sense. These were ghetto dogs owned by ghetto people for ghetto reasons.

Fk em all.

Went to put a couple new plugs in a friend's house. Since there was no OSHA inspector standing there, and stuff the guy didn't want turned off on the same circuit, I just did them hot. I did tell him that if I somehow lost the neutral in the process, and it was shared with another circuit, I wasn't going to be springing for the fried electronics. The other thing that was a drag was that his farking pit bull kept coming up behind me and licking the back of my head and my elbows. How does one explain the concept, "If I get bit because you made me flinch, you're damn sure getting voltage too!" to a dog? Other than that, I really haven't had many negative experiences with the breed, although I know some bad dogs are out there.

Yes. It is.

Just watched a Columbo on Netflix where two dobermans killed a dude.
Laughed my ass off when the discussion turned to dobermans being
known as killers. Just rinse and repeat with 'pit bull' in the place of doberman.
The dobermans killed the dude because they were trained to.
Obedience school should be a mandatory part of adoption, like having
the name of a vet: no obedience school registration, no adoption.

These two pit bulls are a call for better education among humans about
the need for obedience training. It is also a call for landlords and landladies
to use the law at their disposal, instead of acting like slumlords. It is a call
for tenants to follow their lease. It is not a call to ban pit bulls.

2012-10-12 11:57:25 PM
A pitbull is a 60 pound mass of pure muscle and nervous energy demanding to be played with. WHY THE fark would you keep two of them locked up in a apartment? Get a farking chihuahua you asshole!

nburghmatt: Jixa: Misconduc:

yeah, but what you don't show is what happened later when THEY ATE THE BOY! ;-)

Pretty much, the brown one licks his head all night and the white one jumps up and air-humps the foot of the bed every time something wakes him up. Godless killing machines both of them.

Actually I wont lie and say they are completely harmless. If you are a bird or squirrel...your farking dead when they see you. The white one especially, he jumps up and shakes tree limbs to try and shake squirrels and birds out of trees (its worked). He once jumped 7 feet up to catch a bird mid flight, dead on impact. We spent a lot of effort getting them acquainted with cats so they both basically ignore cats or at worst try tongue rape them (my god the undignified howling of doggy oral rape on a cat ass, its, so sad).

Humans they could honestly care less about. Mind you they both get a ton of exercise and have a huge fenced yard to burn up energy in. Confining them to an apartment sounds like a recipe for disaster.

2012-10-12 11:58:18 PM
The problem here is that these are negelected dogs and neglected dogs are aggressive. Combined with incredible jaw strength you get a disaster waiting to happen. And course the owners mostly likely to neglect their dogs are the ones that want pit bulls to be tough.
/Basically Pit Bulls by themselves aren't the problem but shiatty owners.

Because "rescuing dogs" gives you self worth and attempts to invalidate the background that you have no clue on, right? Some breeds don't cotton to anyone outside their own circle.

I have a pitbull dog in my house. She's about 8 months old and probably around 60 lbs. Not my dog, its my roommate who lives upstairs. I was kinda leery when she brought the dog home but I have to say this is the most cheerful and licky licky dog I've ever seen. She (the dog not my roommate) is strong as hell but just licks. I'm starting to think it really is how you raise them. Because this happy clumsy-ass dog who gets along with the other dogs here is just fine. Or she just got a wimpy but sweet pitbull, who knows. My one complaint is when "mama" leaves for work Karma (the pitbull) comes down and sleeps on my bed. She's a farking bedhog.

Dog of Peace (TM) strikes again.

To save time, here's Pit Bull Fark Bingo:

* This is my pet Land Shark, Cuddles, who gives me kisses every morning and makes me scrambled eggs just the way i like them
* Punish the deed, not the breed -- which is gentle and kind and sweet as gummi bears dipped in whipped cream
* But here's a pitbull identity chart -- so there's no such breed
* Other dogs kill people, too. Like that Pomeranian and the baby the one time
* Anyway ... bad owner, not bad dog
* And if the breed exists -- and i'm not saying it does -- breed specific legislation doesn't work
* Again, a picture of Cuddles, whom i rescued from an animal shelter and who just loves children and kittens and plays the cello
* If cats were bigger they'd be illegal ... so, there ...
* If you ban one breed the next worst breed will be next until no dogs will exist anywhere, ever, you monsters
* CSB - one time Cuddles ate my neighbour's cat and we laughed and laughed and laughed
* Here's Cuddles doing trigonometry and serving soup to the homeless

It's okay ... you can keep your piles of smelly dogs and if they should ever become aggressive towards me, well, this might just be in their neck when you find them.

If a dog is threatening my safety or the safety of someone I know/care about or are near, well, they've just become a bug I'm going to squash.

This isn't e-thuggery either, I'm not some bad ass, but I have a nice chunk of leg missing from a "friendly" pit bull that decided it was going to use my 3-year old self as a chew toy.

NOPE .. sorry, go f*ck yourselves if you think I won't defend myself against a god that even "might" be threatening me.

Perhaps you misunderstood.

Cuddles was re-appropriating the phrase "pulling your leg" in a nod to famed semiotician Jacques Derrida.

It was all over that academic journal of note "Bad Ideas from France" as well as the slightly more populist "Dog Fancy."

Time to kick this rational debate into overdrive

Let's judge humans by the same standards as those judging Pit Bulls. Now let's establish a few things

1. According to the arguments, how a creature is raised and its environment are not significant factors contributing to behavior.
2. Black people make up a disproportionate number of criminals in jail in the same way that pit bulls make up a disproportionate number of dog attacks

Therefore: Calling pit bulls a 'dangerous breed' is the same as calling all black people criminals.

*gets popcorn*
