Well a college educations is expense and the job market isn't that great.

It was the logical choice, just not the human one.

This is why I tell me son that I'm broke and he'll never get an inheritance.. Of course he will and it will be a lot. I love him.. but I don't trust em. Especially after making him do his homework.

Those who live in the neighborhood where Nicole Boover grew up are stunned after her arrest for allegedly plotting to kill her own mother.

THIS is what happens when you allow all those credit card reps on the quad.

Sure, you get a free cheap ass duffel bag, but next thing you know, you're selling your meal points to pay just the interest on 6 Discover cards, and giving plasma for your weeks worth of Ramen.

Eventually you ride down this path.

Ok, read the article, crazy chick promises dude $50,000 for 'helping' her shoot her mother to death for the inheritance. Bad sh*t. But this:
Boover's bond is set at $500,000. Police said Boover has not been cooperating, invoking her right to remain silent.

She hasn't been 'cooperating'? Because she has the RIGHT to remain silent!

Do they still use the 'lectric chair in Louisiana? If so there's a 'forced heir heating' joke in there somewhere...

The mom lived in an apartment in Louisiana? What kind of inheritance was this girl expecting? A bunch of IKEA furniture and past due credit card bills from Walmart?

This guy did the same thing back in '04: He's a college student who stole tens of thousands from his parents via forged loans, and then killed them in order to inherit their money/keep them quiet about things. However, he was brighter about covering his tracks than this chick; took 'em about a year to finally arrest him, IIRC.

That's the only smart thing she has done since deciding to murder someone for money.

Article doesn't mention the inheritance as a motive. Motive could have been something else. I am not even sure she intended to kill her mother. They could have been warning shots, she could have been trying to shoot out the lock on the door, there is a lot of information missing here.

if these are the apartments I'm thinking of, they aren't horrible. they run from a $1000-$3000 per month (depending on floor plan).

they're right on bayou st john, overlooking city park (the largest municipal park in the US). pretty awesome location in new orleans. across a little bridge to the museum of art, basically on the canal street car line, close to a cemetery... and walking distance to one of my favorite bars

also, iirc, these apartments are for seniors. or, they have become a place for seniors. if this lady was a senior, or had special needs, this would not be a weird place for her, even if she was a millionaire.

/ also, i know you think louisiana is a bunch of slack jawed yokels... but you will be amazed with the type of person that just happens to be worth millions here, basically because that person was born on some mineral rich land, near water, or had a predecessor that happened to be rich 100 years ago.

you know, i hate the world of dead people law... but, at least in louisiana, it does have some of the most fun words, like disinherison.

most enjoyable legal term in all the world thanks to Louisiana (and france): Le Mort Saisit Le Vif - "the dead seizes the living".

The accomplice said he was supposed to get 50K of the inheritance money. Inheritance was his motive at least.
