Was the human trafficking and prostitution voluntary or were these people forced? Also, were the sex changes voluntary? Something very evil could be going on here.

When you say "is that a penis?" in Liam Neeson's voice from Taken......you have no soul if you don't at least smile.

For good reason. The tranny was Walton Goggins.

reillan: I don't get why headline is funny

It's a reference to the movie Taken, in which the lead character's daughter is kidnapped abroad by human traffickers who have plans to force her into prostitution. The lead character is a father who just happens to be a badass.

One of the lines in the movie is where he says to the unknown villains: "I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."

I can not conceive of the perversion required to have enough demand for transsexual prostitutes that they must be imported from other countries. Can there possibly be that many seriously twisted Italians?

And how do you "recruit" such people? "If you'll put on a dress and let other people fark you I'll fly you to Italy."

My brain does not want to believe such a thing exists.

He also kills virtually every other person he meets along the way too, and wounds the few he doesn't, including most of the friendlies. I love movies where plot plays second fiddle to relentless slaughter.

I'd also like to know how some poor wretch living in a dirt-floored shanty affords a sex-change operation. The article makes it sound like they're already transgendered when they're "recruited".

I know what a Brazilian is, but what the heck is an Italian?
. . . and on what region of the body do you get one?

An 'Italian' is when the put gel in it and comb it. They remove nothing.

They're pre-op. That's their selling feature. I saw a documentary about the "transvesti" sex trade in Italy back in the 80s so this is something that has been going on for quite some time. It's a voluntary business. Life back home for the trannies is worse than being a prostitute in a foreign country. The money that they make usually goes back home to support a family. Pretty interesting documentary and pretty sad too.

A lot of them have back-alley ass and breast implants, usually made out of industrial silicon injected directly into the body. Very few of them are able to afford any sort of genuine transgender procedures, hormonal or surgical. Over all the transvesti (as they are called in Italy) have a better quality of life than actual female prostitutes in Italy. They usually work until they've saved up enough money to retire back home or until they get too old to attract clients.

When I first move to Las Vegas from Idaho I struck up a conversation with a tranny... I mean there's not really any tranny's where I'm from so I really didn't know anything about it.

So... she (or he or whatever) starts telling me that most tranny's wind up in prostitution because they don't really fit in with the normal gay community and certainly don't fit in with the straight community. It's hard to find a job, more difficult to live a normal life, leads to depression, some get into drugs, and overwhelmingly... prostitution.

It really tore at my heart strings, you know? I mean she talked for probably 20 minutes about the ins and outs of it and how the roller-coaster of life winds up there.

It was pretty sad, but finally I just had to tell her, "Look... I'm not paying you to talk."

I got that part, actually. I guess I don't understand how it's supposed to be useful to the story, as if the guy's tranny son/daughter was taken, you'd think he'd know... so really, the father can't be doing the rescuing, which means the guy from taken making the line wouldn't be doing the rescuing... instead it'd just be some random law enforcement officer...

who also probably already knew about the tranny thing.
