In 16 hours, no less. Some guy named "Oatmeal" raised $1.4 million on his promise to build a Tesla museum and got $450,000 in the first 24 hours, for a point of reference. If this embarrassment goes on much longer, Biden himself is going to have to covertly buy this car.

C'mon - get over the $4500 hump... It'd be awesome if we could hit 5k before midnite on the west coast...

I've lurked here for years, with great enjoyment. But today was really special, had a wonderful time making a series of small donations in the names of a few friends. I just wanted to thank you all for the many lulz I've had following along since this morning.

Just to be clear, I was an asshole right back. I'm sorry.

Maybe you two should get a room?

No, they should get a camera and stream that shiat. Unless they're both doods... but that would probably make money for the cause as well.

1. That Allison Scagliotti would be lying next to me.

A little after noon, an "Allison Scagliotti" showed up at my house and showed me a new world of shaving, toys, and ropes. Is this the same Allison, 'cuz I want this again! The things she did with wild onions and an unloaded stapler....

So what are you doing this weekend...?

Yeah, great that you're finally doing something, but if it's because this amuses you, you're really the one missing the point

You should start a charity to raise awareness for people tragically stranded atop high horses.

Methinks he's sitting backwards on that horse, with the pommel stuck up 'is arse...

Probably the best post to illustrate how stunningly deficient in every way you people are. thanks! at the same time that you're attempting to insult me, by claiming I have a pommel stuck in my ass, you're most likely revealing your true feelings on gay marriage. Otherwise you wouldn't use such a remark as an insult after all..

I think I'm done for the night but I will definitely be back tomorrow with more donations. Seeing the incredible anal devastation that this is bringing the teabaggers and Fark Independents is giving me the biggest hard on for hitting that "contribute" button.

My predictions: Before midnight tonight the donations will be over $4,000. Fark will have had more hits than Paul Ryan.

Just added $5 to the kitty, and the total is now around $4700. I also think that somebody should scrounge up some old Cheap Trick and REO Speedwagon tapes for the tape deck

Yes because I don't contribute to charity or volunteer at all other than when it's a thread on Fark. Go fark yourself, prick.

legalgus: If you contribute look in a mirror and say "a fool" and his money are soon parted. Carry on fools. I'd rather buy a bum a beer. Hey, maybe ya'll can offer the bum a beer.

You should fark right off. I know a bum, lived in a shelter in Lawrence KS. He taught himself chess from a book during the year he was in lockup, then lived on the streets and slept in shelters when it was cold. I bought him a few beer over the years and he taught me chess. He's graduated from the guy in a bed to being part of the staff of that shelter, which means guaranteed pay and a place to crash, and he is an all-around great guy. He let himself get plowed over with booze and drugs, but now he's pulling himself up by his very thin bootstraps, with some taxpayer help, and helping others as he does it.. He's now a contributing member of society, and helping other to be the same. I bought him a beer now and again (alcoholism wasn't his problem) and gave him a smoke once in a while, and watched him make a buck or two crushing fratboys who thought they knew how to play chess. He schooled 'em. So give a buck to a bum, then fark right off.

You guys are dumbasses for giving this guy money for the trans-am.

It's funny and all but be's going to either keep the car or the cash.

individual donations to an individual can't exceed 2.5k and even if you started a PAC 5k is the limit.
You'd need to break it into 8 2.5k donations from different individuals, and you can't do that with a car.

plus since he's using indiegogo's flexible funding, even if he doesn't reach the goal he still gets the cash.

That would make sense if this were a political contribution. Since it's not, none of that silliness applies. Yes, it's a flexible funding campaign and if we don't meet the targets the amount raised will be divided between the four charities and we'll get a toy Trans-Am for the VP. I trust RichieLaw, especially because with this many eyes on things (hell, Drew endorsed this earlier in this very thread), I feel fine about it.

But you should only donate if you feel comfortable doing so. If you don't, please consider a direct donation to one or all four of the charities in question. :)

Thanks!
