I haven't read the entire thread, so this may be covered, but I have seen this repeated a lot. There are statutory protocols for how gifts to U.S. officials are handled - we don't need to worry about it. Give it to him, if we want, and let him (and various gift-handling functionaries) figure out what to do. That way we don't have a committee arguing so much the entire idea gets derailed.

Typically about 48 hours, but as things move forward I'd recommend submitting new threads with updates, and have a link back to this thread as a bit of background. I've stickied this thread at the top for a little while, but I'm open to bumping this again tomorrow to get the weekend crowd a look.
 
One thing: this can get a lot of traction off-Fark if people put it on FB and/or teh Twittars.

The point is, whether he can accept it or not, a Tran-Am can be procured, there can be a big silly ceremony with media where "he accepts it" or whatever, and all of us nerds can get a woody. It's for the LULZ.

I'm thinking that if this works, and the car is procured, that Biden could sign it or something and then it could be auctioned off for even more money. Or, that might not work, I dunno. Obviously it will all go to charity in the end. But we need to summon the Powers of Fark to make this happen so dammit get out yer credit cards farkers.

I kinda wished I had thought of this, although to be hones, I'm not sure this is the best use of $25k. If I were Biden, I would drive this one to a press conference and announce I'm auctioning it off for charity, and offer to first wash it in your driveway.

Of course, that would make him irretrievably popular with his base if he did it.
