$10. Done.

The epic internet awesomeness has begun.

Looks like the link is working now. Nice jorb!

RichieLaw: Link

I don't know if you saw it above but to get the message to Joe, an easy way might be to simultaneously start a petition at the White House to have him celebrate his defense of reality and the middle class by washing a Trans Am or something. If you hint at it well enough, if you buy a $25K trans-am, get Joe Biden to at least photo-op with it on the WH lawn, it'll be worth a lot more at auction. Maybe the petition can be to get Joe Biden to photo-op with the Trans Am and the winning auction bidder on the White House lawn?

Anyway:

RichieLaw: Jiro Dreams Of McRibs: The "This farking Guy" video might need to be replaced. Just my two cents. Either that or labeled for NSFW content.

I'd like to see some people upset but for the right reasons. Again, just my humble opinion.

What do other people think? I was kind of iffy with it.... can someone make a gif with the swear censored?

Maybe just pull the video and let the other stuff be. Until someone can alter it.

2012-10-12 01:53:39 PM
Ok, now that the "easy" stuff is done.... should we have a serious national discussion about logistics if this actually gets done?

2012-10-12 01:53:54 PM
$10 in. WOOO

2012-10-12 01:54:02 PM
Why don't we just contribute money directly to those charities instead of buying a car he doesn't want and then auctioning it off?

Do it for charity it would be great if you could get Joe to recreate the onion photo and write a letter of authenticity for the buyer.

what did I miss? Did Biden say something worthy of buying him a Trans Am?

How about this? Neil Young

2012-10-12 01:55:21 PM
I said before the debate "They should let Biden be Biden" and they did and it worked.

Yes Biden isn't prefect but people kind of like him because of that. They go "Yeah this guy cares, he might get over the top or say things without thinking through but that makes him real".

He can drive it back to Pennsylvania when he needs to relocate in a couple of months.

someone ask an admin to have the fark tag go to the donation page

Heh...donated $10.

/I probably would have just spent it on booze and hookers anyway.
//Really REALLY cheap booze and hookers.

Because that doesn't make me giggle like a school girl at my desk while waiting until 5:00 on a Friday

Thanks 2nd Debbie Downer of the thread.

insertsnarkyusername: Why don't we just contribute money directly to those charities instead of buying a car he doesn't want and then auctioning it off?

Because:

1. Awesomeness.
2. Fun.
3. If it works out well auctioning the car will produce more than the car was purchased for.
4. Any extra funds go straight to the charities.
5. Awesomeness and fun.

/did I mention fun?

I saw an old man beating and teaching a kid on TV, great!

PallMall: RichieLaw: I have a business account that I have set up with it, but I'm wondering if I should take it off now....

I have a dozen or so Paypal business accounts for various projects. Trust me... they'll lock you down when money starts pouring in. It is all sorts of hassle trying to get it straight again.. and their requirements can get ridiculous. You can Google "paypal account freeze" and get a glimpse.

Don't tie it to any account you use personally. It could really screw you up, man.

Done. No longer using paypal. Sorry for any inconvenience!

2012-10-12 01:58:17 PM

RichieLaw: Cyclometh: OK, let's talk a few logistical issues:

1. Where will we be buying the vehicle?
2. How will it be delivered? I suggest something like an Iraq vet driving it to DC.
3. What's the timeframe? I recommend 30 days.
4. What will be done with overage? I'd bet we'll get some extra (maybe a lot if it really takes off). We should be ready to commit extra funds in equal measure to the four charities in cash.
5. Add more here. We'll have to be ready to handle questions, etc.

1 and 2. I would plan on it being completely bought via the internet. Maybe have someone inspect the vehicle or pay for an actual assessment and then either having someone drive it to DC or have it shipped.
3. I have it on indiegogo as 46 or 45 days right now, whatever is the default.
4. Overage will be donated, pro rata, to the four charities listed.
5. Just set up an email account: joebidenstransam[[nospam-﹫-backwards] image 7x13]liamg[* image 7x13]com

This is going to be epic. You sir will be a legend in these halls. I have donated $50

You don't think the car will auction for more if it comes with a picture of Joe Biden shifting into first in it, and maybe even signing it?

insertsnarkyusername: Why don't we just contribute money directly to those charities instead of buying a car he doesn't want and then auctioning it off?

Because the whole point is to celebrate Biden's awesomeness in the debate last night in a hilarious yet positive manner.

2012-10-12 01:58:49 PM
There's no apostrophe in "Coors Light.". Otherwise, awesome site.

I thought about a perk where you could add a sticker to the car for enough cash, but if this goes viral, it could end up looking like a NASCAR, and who I owe what kind of awful crap people would want to put on there. Thoughts?

You want a bunch of poor people to buy a millionaire a classic sport car?
What a dumbass idea.

Whoosh. That's why this idea is brilliant. It shows our complete disregard for reality. But please send your $5 to Komen because apparently there are still eight or nine people in the US who are not yet "aware" of breast cancer.

Tee hee, we are having fun, but its all for a good cause.

Barf.

$10 in - let's go!

2012-10-12 02:00:00 PM
Even though I think this is a completely lame brain idea. I like to see people come together for a worthy cause. In this case.. it's the charities. Joe Biden is still a moron.

Also, some of you gung-ho folks should start emailing/calling/etc people who are selling their TransAms and make them aware of the project. Who knows? Maybe one of them will just donate the TransAm and you guys can use the Indiegogo money to pay to transport it to DC or something.

Because then no one will care. Making it amusing makes more interest. Sometimes the best way to get to point B is not a straight line.

Thanks 2nd Debbie Downer of the thread.

Also, the fact that it's the trans am that given to Biden from the Internet would make the car worth an incredible amount more than the amount it was purchased for.

Therefore, by donating to buy the car instead of directly to charity, you're actually donating more to charity.

2012-10-12 02:00:36 PM
I agree with everyone on the "seriousness of this" front. If this happens...the car is purchased. Whoever said that they can make this viral, we simply express that Biden's awesomeness should turn this meme in to reality. A photo op with the car, then auction said car for charity.

That $25k could return twice that.

And we are all heroes!

No inconvenience to me - I'm only donating advice. Glad you pulled it from Paypal though. Even lame brained ideas like this shouldn't suffer the misery of Paypal's Terms of Service.
