I'm in for ten as soon as someone finds out if he can accept it :)

2012-10-12 12:04:58 PM
You'd let Biden drive a car?

Why would anyone let Vice President Bath Salts behind the wheel of a car?

2012-10-12 12:05:49 PM

physt: Could he event accept such a gift?

Probably not, but we could raise the funds, buy the car and then turn it over to a charity or something in his name. It'd still be a great thing to do.

Sometimes you should do something because it's awesome, not because it's practical.

2012-10-12 12:06:13 PM

physt: Could he event accept such a gift?

Yes, and then auction it for charity immediately (after getting an actual shirtless photo like the Onion p-shopped one).

Seriously, this is all fun and games, but let's make this sh*t happen for realz.

2012-10-12 12:06:57 PM
Politicians are banned from accepting gifts in certain circumstances. Someone might want to check if Biden could legally accept the transam before raising money to get him one.

2012-10-12 12:07:14 PM
Biden already owns a Corvette for heaven's sake...

Boe
2012-10-12 12:07:22 PM
I doubt he could accept it if you did manage to do this. Prohibitions against government officials accepting gifts over a certain amount, etc. He might ask or direct that it be donated to some other cause or charity to be auctioned off, though.

2012-10-12 12:08:08 PM

Hack Patooey: Subby here. I think Kickstarter might be the way to go? I wonder what kind of gift laws this crosses?

Indiegogo, I'd say. I think RichieLaw has a site started. I've also created an account there but stopped working on a campaign once Richie posted he had one in play. This needs to happen one way or another, this idea is farking brilliant.

Hack Patooey: @RichieLaw: How about something like:

The Internet wishes to express how awesome Joe Biden is. What better way to show this then to present him with a vintage Trans Am, and make one of the coolest internet memes come true.

support this cause, blah blah blah...

I actually had that as one of the perks. It would be for $0 but says, "Knowledge that you contributed to making an internet meme come true."

tricycleracer: BAMFinator: As part of the 1%, Biden can buy his own damn TransAm.

No reason to think Biden would keep it. I'd imagine the Vice Presidential TransAm would feature in a few good-natured photo-ops and then be auctioned off for charity.

2012-10-12 12:09:11 PM
I'm in for $10; I hope an enterprising individual is taking down names since half of us will forget after tonight.

2012-10-12 12:09:18 PM
We should find out what charities Joe supports (or his wife Jill) and set it up that way with a clear intent rather than trying to divert the car to the charity after the fact.

This. Even if he can't accept it, some good could come from it.

It's scientifically impossible to distinguish a person on bath salts from the average Beltway driver.

lol, what we need are great perks...

$10 - Joe Biden will slam a Coors Light in your honor (not really, but we can pretend).

2012-10-12 12:09:57 PM
it has to be the redneck camaro/trans am: at least three different colors, bondo in spots, duct tape on seats, colored cellophane tape for taillights, one of the doors won't open, mismatched rims and a tape deck with an Iron Maiden tape stuck in it on play.

He must also use some version of the phrase "i'm workin on fixin her up"

2012-10-12 12:10:12 PM
Can anyone think of any other perks?

2012-10-12 12:10:14 PM
I didn't watch the stage-managed bullshiatfest, but I gather Biden was douchey enough to make it a competitive douche-off. I mean, if the other team brings the extra-strength douche like Romney did last time, you gotta bring some of your own, otherwise, they douche all over you and make you look weak.

This suggests an awesome web video someone needs to make now: The Professor and the Douche.

Obama and Biden ride around the country in Biden's Trans-Am. Obama bores people with detailed explanations of his policies while Biden mugs and hits on all the ladies.

Yes - but if WE buy him one, we can reasonably demand that he drive it all the time.

Maybe we can get some Farkers (or god help us, redditors) to step up and offer a service or reward. Like some of the photoshoppers doing a custom avatar for other forums, that kind of thing.

make it happen and show me the link to donate Fark

2012-10-12 12:14:01 PM
Hm, how about this one, Richie:

All donors will have their names added to a card sent along with the vehicle to the Vice President?

2012-10-12 12:14:07 PM
Perk $5: Knowledge that you contributed to making an internet meme come true.

Perk $10: Joe Biden will slam a Coor's Lite in your honor while ripping the sleeves off of his button-down. (Need a description) - Was thinking of, "Not really, but if there is enough interest, maybe we can convince Uncle Joe to chug a beer in your honor. Pictures to be posted all over the internet, of course."

Any more?

Hack Patooey: Found a white one

Holy shiat, that's the exact one. Seller is only asking like $13K. Alright Farkers, let's get it done. Who has the donation site set up and where? Let's discuss.

I've got a mint-condition '01 TA WS 6 package that I'll let go for $15K, just for Biden. He'll have to pick it up, though.

I've got one for sale. '86 TA, 305 V8, carbureted, red with silver rocker trim, 53K miles, garaged its whole life. For sale for $6000...

So should we state the Republican platform as "the freedom to do whatever you want, as long as it's something I approve of"? Unlike your example it's both relevant and true.

So what you're saying is, the GOP is all adult-oriented. Like whining about how individual liberties should be preserved while prosecuting people who want to control their bodies.

Sounds pretty childish to me, Trisomy 21 guy.

I have the amount for $25k. Enough to purchase the car, pay applicable taxes and then transport it wherever it needs to go.

Also. Short description has been updated:

Help us raise $25 thousand dollars to buy Joe Biden a gift from the American people as awesome as he is... a vintage Pontiac Trans Am.

Now, if for some reason this awesome gift is too awesome for pesky laws and other unknown political reasons and Uncle Joe has to remain Trans Am-less, the internet will still purchase the car and auction it off.

All proceeds will go to benefit the Biden Breast Health Initiative.

This. (In before the Fark Democrat brigade says "SO VOTE REPUBLICAN!").

How about donating that money to charity instead? Or even NASA?
