(Snopes)   Snopes looks into the latest right-wing fantasy about Obama and his magical Muslim ring and point out that it's just a ring, nothing more. Of course, they said the same thing about that Hal Jordan guy, too, and look what happened to him   (snopes.com) divider line 40

Conspiracy theories are a guilty pleasure of mine, but I've never been able to get into the whole Obama is a Muslim thing. It's just a such a boring conspiracy.

Hal Jordan eventually became possessed by a demon bent on spreading fear (which has the physical side effect of prematurely turning his hair grey).
He then massacred his adopted family and destroyed the source of their power.
All the while, he supposedly thought he was making the world a better, more peaceful place.

Slow infiltration of his adopted culture, followed by spreading fear and doubt, ending with the destruction of all his new people held dear, while mistakenly thinking that he's improving things? Actually that sounds a lot like Obama.

It only says PROBABLY false Subby! Even with his magical powers, Obama wasn't able to completely fool Snopes!

Because they haven't actually gone up to the President and asked to see his ring?

Or trollbait. Could be that too.

It's hilariously stupid. They make it out to be as if he's some Manchurian candidate. Putting aside the pure bullshiat aspect, that might be a scary prospect if we didn't have things like term limits, legislative branches, courts, etc. Gee, I wonder who the next secret Muslim is that they've got lined up to continue the reign of terror from the White House? Hillary?

You know, it's telling. Look at Snopes during the administration of a Democratic president, and (most) everything is about how the President is destroying the nation or is an alien or a Muslim (NTTAWWT), or isn't really President or whatever.

Look at Snopes during the administration of a Republican president, and (most) everything is about how the President is either (a) doing his job incorrectly but with few truly mean-spirited rumos or (b) liberals are trying to kill God.

So...yeah. It's just...telling.

Just about any vague three pointed squiggle can look like "Allah" in Arabic letters, whether it's Air Jordans, the waves of a tsunami, a design on an ice cream cone or the markings on a fish. (Wouldn't be more impressive if Allah would write "Allah" in Roman letters? You know, to convince people who don't already need convincing? That goes for y'all who see Mary in the darnedest places -- it'd be more convincing if she's show herself to some Protestants once in a while.)

And what would be hilarious is that even if he was a Muslim, so what? He'd still be President. Being a Muslim doesn't exclude you from the Presidency.

Same with UFOs. They always pick some place in the middle of nowhere with only one unreliable witness to decide to show themselves. They have technology capable of interstellar travel, they are like gods compared to us, but they're shy?

Anyone who ever believed that he was a Muslim or isn't a citizen is far to racist to ever vote for him anyway.

I suppose that in theory he could have an inscription on the inside of his ring: that's a more common place for inscriptions anyway. But no one is claiming this possibility.

Of course, the answer to "Muslims aren't allowed to do X" is always "taqiyya".

Well Obama could always say it was a gift from his Father (a Muslim) and it has xyz religious significance for him. Remote possibility but still.
