cgraves67: This is the first I've heard of American Gods. It sounds right up my alley. I'm gonna have to go read it.

Awesome book. Check out Good Omens too.

A Takeshi Kovacs serial would be pretty cool

The ABC drama is to revolve around a fifteen year old girl believed to be the reincarnated goddess of a South American religion, who becomes swept into a complex story of "family struggle, teen romance and California evil". We'll keep an eye out for more.

Yes, you do that. And if any of you happen to hear anything, feel free to keep it yourselves.

Raug the Dwarf: CygnusDarius: American Gods by HBO? Nice!.

I had an idea for a sort-of apocalyptic feel, but instead of focusing on the antichrist, or stuff like that, it should focus on the Horsemen. The ideas were that war was the son of a CEO of an Weapons manufacturing company, Pestilence is the Pope, Famine is a model, and Death is a med student. And this would've been the theme song.

So, Good Omens then?

Pestilence has been replaced with Pollution. Famine is a nutritionist that gets off on tiny serving sizes and convincing rich people the less they eat the better. War is a journalist/foreign correspondent who just happens to be there when fighting breaks out. Death plays himself.

And Elvis is the happiest employee in the whole Burger Lord chain.

The book was awesome. I think HBO will give it good treatment.

American Gods then Ananasi Boys then Good Omens. Give Neverwhere a miss.

I was told the exact opposite. I've started with Neverwhere and I really like it, so those other is will either hate or think they are AMAZING!!

An HBO miniseries of American Gods sounds vaguely promising.

I'd rather have a Hollywood movie of Eyes of the Dragon than a SyFy miniseries. It's a lot shorter than the Stand was; 2.5 hours would be more than enough time to do it properly. And somehow I can't imagine Hollywood screwing it up as badly as I suspect SyFy would.

DMZ DEATH: There is no way the Hulk could work on network TV. The 70's cheese is the only reason the original succeeded.

the only reason it's cheese is because you're looking back on it.
at the time, it was played straight and worked. There would be a way to do it, but I think it would involve a lot of Banner and very little Hulk.
And that worked for Smallville for 10 years, so they could do it....
If done well.

texdent: Interested in Booster Gold,

I would love a good Booster Gold show. You think Sam Rockwell will do TV?

None of those look good, even the "Steampunk Nerf Maverick" one.
