Nationals and the Mariners are the only two teams never to be in the World Series. As an M's fan, I'm rooting for the Nats. There can be only one.

The Nationals have about as much to do with the Expos as Vladimir Putin has to do with a plate of fries with cheese curds and gravy on it.

Also, the Yanks are done. Granderson is already 0-for-3 with two strikeouts today as he tries to figure out the meaning of the phrase "working the count".

I sure as hell hope the Orioles win.

I would almost rather the Yankees win 7-2 with a 5 run 2nd. My liver can't take another pitching duel.

Almost.

The only thing that would help after 1994 would be Bud Selig being kidnapped by the FLQ.

Sorry, but I refuse to allow that these are the new Expos. The Expos are dead and buried. And nothing will ever make up for 1994.

The Orioles and Yankees have now played 22 times in 2012. Baltimore has won 11, New York has won 11. Baltimore is 7-4 in New York, New York is 7-4 in Baltimore. The Yankees have outscored the O's by a grand total of 2 runs this season. Four of the 22 games have gone extra innings.

It's fitting this one comes down a game 5.

/Go O's!

I said this in another thread today, but this has been an absolutely fantastic series. If my favorite team weren't involved, I'd be enjoying every damn second of this as a baseball fan. But, since my favorite team IS involved, I'm pulling my hair out.

Division Series Week is always my favorite week of the baseball season, even though my Dodgers are nowhere near it.  There've been some amazing games and great drama, all day/night long.  I expect today won't disappoint, either.  Hoping it's a good day for Beltway teams.

It's great that all 4 series went to 5 games. It's been an absolute nail biting season for everyone.

Lets go Yanks!

I knew when they didn't score in the 8th they weren't gonna win last night. I hope they can pull off a crushing defeat tonight. Both teams want this badly but I think the O's are gonna panic.

The way you make up for the Expos 1994 season is to hop in the TARDIS and stop the strike from happening. Nothing less. The strike killed baseball in Montreal. It took the city's best shot at the World Series away and broke them to the point where the fans simply gave up. The only thing that could even begin to make it up to Montreal is for them to get a new team, and it's fairly obvious that's not happening anytime soon. They'll just make do with the Impact.

The Nationals don't even recognize the Expos' retired numbers. The Canadiens have to do it for them.

Pulling for the O's because I picked them in the bracket. But I wouldn't mind seeing a Tigers/Yankees ALCS.

Either way I'm going to vodak this cold right out of me during the game, so it should be fun.

I dunno. The O's have a roster full of rookies who didn't panic after losing games 1 and 3 in ways that were entirely unexpected and should have been supremely demoralizing. They came back from both losses and won extremely tight games, both of which were in must-win spots (yes, I know game 2 isn't an elimination game, but the Orioles were facing the prospect of going back to NY to play three elimination games in Yankee Stadium...).

The Yankees, on the other hand, are missing almost all of their traditional big bats. Cano, Granderson, Tiexiera, A-Rod, no one's shown up. The only upside is that CC is on the mound; if he can deliver anywhere close to the way he did in Game 1 the Yankees should be fine.

Nationals Park is more concerned with the Washington Senators than the Montreal Expos. There are statues to Walter Johnson and Josh Gibson, but not any of the old Expos. It's kinda sad

Ah, so this was more of a Browns to Ravens move than an Oilers to Titans.

I won't be able to join you fine gentlemen this evening. I'll be watching the game at the bar so that I have easy access to either celebratory booze or dull-the-pain booze.

However, I am going to leave this here:

Red Sox, $2.5 Million per win.

Suddenly $8 for a beer sounds like a steal.

/surprised the Tigers is only $1.5 mil

The Orioles (my favorite team) with their $4.99 budget beating the Yankees (the least favorite team of anyone with a soul) and their 715 trillion budget would be so very sweet. Go Os!

Any over-unders on how many times they will show A-Rod in the dugout watching the rest of the team play? I'd put it at a baker's dozen. (includes talking to somebody else during their hitting half of an inning)

It really looked like A-Rod wasn't even trying last night. Have a seat on the B-Bench.

Or the Yankees beat the Orioles and leave 'em crying over payroll, I like that option way better. :)

In the ESPN article about his benching, A-Rod is quoted as saying "You want to be in there in the worst way".

I'd say 2-16, O RBI & 9 Strikeouts about satisfies that desire.

I wanted K-Rod in the lineup in the worst way.

As a Giants fan, I still have a residual semi-boner & fits of sphincter clenching due to yesterday's game. So I can watch today's games with no real vested interest. I don't have a preference between the Nats/Cards, & I always chuckle when the Yankees lose.
