Diogenes: "Let me remind you one thing though: the truth that's told with bad intent beats all lies one can invent," she said. "And when Joe Biden told some truths about, say, death panels, but he told it out of context and with an intention to skew what the true meaning and the truth behind the policy issues are, that's as bad as actually telling a lie. So just keep that in mind when you talk about style, when you talk about the verbage that Joe Biden chose to use tonight."

It's nice to see after four years she hasn't lost her touch for being completely incomprehensible.

I think that's the missing chorus from Aqualung at the start there but then she loses me completely.

I read the headline, and sorta agreed with Sarah Palin for once. Then I made the mistake of reading the rest of it.. is she a robot, with a randomizer in her speech synthesizer?

It reminded me ... of watching a musk ox run across the tundra with somebody underfoot

since you can only be reminded of something that actually happened, methinks she speaks of an analogy

Friar Cadfael: I am trying to remain undecided until the very last moment. It becomes difficult when the candidates lie or shade the truth.

I feel Biden interrupted Ryan a bit too often at times, and then not often enough at other times.

OTOH, Ryan blatantly lied on at least two occasions. Once, when he said that Democrats are not used to working in a bipartisan manner to enact fair legislation. Since President Obama's inauguration the Republicans have stonewalled pretty much everything the Democrats have tried to pass, and specifically jobs legislation.

The other egregious lie occurred during Ryan's closing remarks when he made reference to (President) Obama's "takeover of the health care industry." This very clever untruth was labeled Politifact's Lie of the Year a few months ago. He inserted it in at the very last moment when Biden could not respond.

Lies make it difficult to remain undecided.

This the thing that pissed me off at Biden was his response made no mention of the compromises Obama specifically put into place in numerous legislations at the request of the Republicans and, yet they still vote against every bill Obama supports. Kills the "no bipartisanship" argument talking point right there.

Agneska: Biden was like an unhinged crazy old coot. Lying, giggling, eye-rolling, and deceiving. Democrats sure know how to pick 'em.

Wow, Ryan couldn't even handle a lying, crazy unhinged old coot? If that's the case, how would he be able to handle this guy:

Or this guy

scrapetv.com

Or this guy

i.telegraph.co.uk

Or these guys:

When Obama lost, the Dems admitted it, citing Romney's lies were profoundly blatant and unexpected, and that he wasn't able to adjust and counter it. He had a bad night.

Now that Ryan has lost, the right is blaming the ref and 'big ol meanie head Biden'. This is the first time that the GOP lies have been called out on the national stage, away from the hivemind that campaign rallies provide. And it stung.

Grow up. Take the hit, admit your guy was made the fool, and move on.

Weaver95: I think the GOP response to the debate loss is going to 1. blame the moderator and 2. call Biden a big meanie head.

this is the big time kids. you cannot claim that the GOP is ready to take on the challenges of running this country and then turn around and whine because someone was 'mean' to you and laughed at your ideas during a debate. either you are all tough manly men of John Galt stature and can take a bit of verbal abuse or you're all just biatchy girlie men with glass jaws who fold up and go home first time you hit a rough patch of road. which is it guys?

I was just listening to Rush a few minutes ago, and this is exactly what he said.

I listened for about half an hour, and he called Biden and "angry white man" about 20 times.

Rush is no conservative, but his tears are delicious.

I did not and will not see yesterday's debate but I just come here to say that if anyone knows what it's like to be out-debated by a stinking nincompoop like Joe Biden (and the guy is grade A retarded), it's Sarah farking Palin. Jesus Christ what an embarrassment to humanity...

I think it would have been even more interesting if the moderator had added divorce, capital punishment and contraception to the abortion question. Heads exploding

Republicans are very good at rallying behind their candidate no matter what. Doesn't matter how Ryan performed, they would tend to vote heavily that he won.

Dems at least could agree that Romney won the last debate on style points while President Obama foundered, but I have a hard time imagining most Republicans, especially the big-time pundits, doing the same for their candidate(s).

I don't think this debate is going to convince anybody to change sides or get the mythical undecided voter to make a damn choice already. No, I think this debate will encourage the Democrats and get their enthusiasm ungapped. The Dems need to turn registered voters into likely voters. They're never going to change Republicans' minds.

2012-10-12 01:37:27 PM
Recons: cut the crap. Simple question: After that debate which "Mick" would you rather have running the country, Biden or Ryan?

Hint: Which candidate seemed decisive , informed, tough, real, passionate, and, oh, honest?

Not surprising that Krauthammer, Limbag, Wallass, van suckskin, etc. are all going beserko today.

I just gave my full contribution to Obama's campaign because of Joe's great job last night.

Let's check the Palin-drome version.

"Tonight use to chose Biden Joe that Verbage the about talk you when, style about talk you when mind in that keep just so. Lie a telling actually as bad as that's, are issues policy the behind truth the and meaning tru the what skew to intention an with and context of out it told he but, panels death, say, about truths some told Biden Joe when and." Said she, "Invent can one lies all beats intent bad with told that's truth the: though thing one you remind me let."

Hahaha! Good lord. Kinda obvious that gasbag would be worked up today and try to give the troops the spin they'll need to survive. Sorry GOP. Sorry your kid got his butt beat last night by the old dude. But when you lie this much, someone is eventually going to call you on it to your face.

i'm getting kind bored with Limbaugh tho. he's basically sticking to the same script as every OTHER Republican speakerphone out there in the media today. its kinda sad actually.

So much this. So many on the left have consistently expressed their disappointment in how Obama handled himself in the debate, but the right doesn't seem willing to look into the same mirror of honesty. I have absolutely no farking clue why conservatives absolutely refuse to admit when their performance was less than they'd hoped for. It's not a weakness to acknowledge the truth. In fact, it actually leads to, you know, doing something DIFFERENTLY next time.

If that's how you really view that debate, what does it say for "your guy" that even the liberals are (generously) saying that it was a tie?

Post debate polls were more favorable towards Biden, sonny boy. Read them and weep.

I meant to say "favorable towards Ryan."

I think you had it right the first time. Biden won that debate...the GOP is in damage control mode today. Hell, i'm listening to LImbaugh say that Ryan lost (and didn't lose) because 1. Biden was a big meanie head and 2. the moderator cheated. of course, Limbaugh is also ranting about communist infiltration and 'precious bodily fluids' so I don't know how much weight I'd give his opinion.

The GOPpers are out in force today, spinning and shilling and shrieking with an edge of hysteria in their voices.

Rather than admit that their guy did badly, they are howling about how Biden laughed and had bad manners, and how the moderator let him get away with interrupting. (Comments notably absent from last week, when they were crowing "victory" after Obama shot himself in the foot)

Not one syllable of introspection from the GOP ... just the vitriol that screams "sore loser."

I find it darkly amusing that the "Party of Personal Responsibility" is blaming everybody in sight, except themselves, for Ryan's loss in the debate.

Mayhap all this yelling is meant to mask the greatest fear the GOP has: that the Democrats will actually grow a back-bone and start punching back without apology.

It will be interesting to see if Obama borrows Biden's Book of Testicular Fortitude next week and opens up on Romney.

Should that happen, you don't have to be Nostradamus to predict the apocalyptic-level butthurt that will come from the GOP.

Modguy: THX 1138: FTFA: "It reminded me ... of watching a musk ox run across the tundra with somebody underfoot."

Really? It reminded you of that, Mrs. Palin? It brought forth a memory of that happening? You have actual memory of someone being trampled by a musk ox, and this evoked it? Or did you mean to say it simply made you imagine a hypothetical situation from which you drew a parallel? Because if you don't have an actual memory of something happening, then it's pretty difficult be reminded of it.

Gawd, if you learned how to actually use the correct words, I'd still disagree with you but you'd at least be slightly less annoying.

It reminded her of her debate with Biden. Except she was the Musk Ox, and the person underfoot was Sarah Palin.

Aye-up. Beat her like a rented mule. She's still a mite peeved about it, or pretends to be. (Which pays for the truck to be released from the impound lot.)

I'm not voting for either of the two main parties, WAS a registered Republican...
Biden was up-front and on point. Ryan got called on his BS.
Biden was slightly spinny with his "verbage", Ryan was pure BS and mis-information.

Now I am beginning to realize that the televangelists have been feeding their puppets politicians bad information on purpose. Plausible deniability? They DO really believe the insanity they spew.

They really need to keep the biblical nonsense out of their rhetoric. MOST of the US citizens TRY to vote LOGICALLY. Let's do some more!

1). Ryan claimed the Obama administration has blocked sanctions on Iran and tried to stop them.

The truth: In July, the Obama administration ordered new sanctions on Iran.

2). Ryan claimed that Obama slashed security funding for embassies.

The truth: Paul Ryan and the House Republicans slashed funding for diplomatic security.

3). Ryan said a Medicare board appointed by Obama will be making healthcare decisions for seniors.

The Truth: The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act creates the 15-member Independent Payment Advisory Board to suggest ways to limit Medicare's spending growth. It can be overruled by Congress.

4). Ryan said Obamacare takes $716 billion out of Medicare for seniors.

The Truth: These cuts reduce payments to hospitals and premiums to insurance companies. They do not effect care.

5). Ryan claimed 6 studies guarantee that the Romney tax cut math adds up.

The Truth: There are zero.

We can do this all day. Here are Ryan's 24 Myths in 40 Minutes.
