FTFA: the space shuttle will pause again at the corner of Crenshaw Boulevard and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard
Who was the comic that said that if you were on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, you were in the wrong part of town?

SevenizGud: Why didn't they just bury that abortion of a spacecraft? Or just prang it into 23-Left at Edwards and leave it there.

238 godzillion dollars for this thing, who purpose was to serve the ISS, which was 238 godzillion dollars with a purpose of...given the shuttle something to do.

Nice work everyone

Yep, that's a very shiatty part of Los Angeles. No coincidence, USC is located down there, too.

Sadly, the "Live Nudes" on Century is now a parking lot...

Which is a good thing, because that place shoulda been condemned a long time ago.

The Tundra will be immediately recalled after pulling the Shuttle, to replace a faulty window switch.

drewogatory: cptjeff: drewogatory: I'm a little confused as to all the hoopla surrounding this, or why they just didn't put the damn thing in Huntsville or D.C. where it belongs.

There are four shuttles, including enterprise. Discovery, the one with the most history, is in DC. Enterprise went to NYC. Atlantis is staying in at Kennedy Space Center. Endeavor is providing some geographic balance and going west to LA.

Ah. Well, that shows how much attention I've paid to the incredibly uninteresting shuttle program. I'm an AF brat and a pilot and while I appreciate the tech, I wouldn't cross the street to see one.

And yet here you are, in a shuttle thread. Bravo.

They should let Reginald Denny drive the truck through that neighborhood.

/Keep the doors locked this time.

"Dead Nudes" however is still going strong in the LA River

Watching the live stream is interesting. It really is pretty wide. And it is definitely going through some humble neighborhoods. Rolling past a 7-11 and a Sizzler right now. I love America.

Smiles all around, and seems to be going well! Even the cops look happy.

drewogatory: I'm not arguing that California doesn't "deserve" a shuttle, I'm just wondering why anyone gives a damn, or why anyone would go out of their way to look at a decommissioned aircraft.

Interesting. I don't think I've ever run across a pilot who doesn't appreciate historic, decommissioned aircraft. On the contrary, they're usually the ones that appreciate them the most.

Too bad Jack LaLane is dead. They could have had him tow the Shuttle using only his muscly arms and muscly legs.

It didn't event take Century.

But in that alternate universe where it took Century Blvd, and was towed in front of Live Nude Nudes, that alternate universe was glorious.
