Weird shiat bothering Joba on the mound trifecta now in play.

What a baby. It didn't even impale him.

comment at the bottom of page is great:

"As I watched the bat hurtling towards Joba, I had this vision of the bat striking him directly in the midsection, and then seeing the chaos as players from both benches rushed the field to scoop up the delicious candy that was pouring out of the fat piñata on the mound."

Yesterday was an amazing day of baseball

Well it's not like hockey players have anything else to do right now

2012-10-12 10:19:20 AM
how fast was the bat traveling?

Getting impaled by the splinter end in the face is one thing. Getting hit in the upper arm by the barrel part of the broken piece of the bat is another.

To be fair, I wouldn't call what hit him a shard, it was most of the bat that hit him.

Yeah, because that happens in hockey.

You're an idiot. Sorry you can't understand the relatively simple idea that the mechanics of pitching require a great deal of precision that is a little thrown off when you get hit directly on the elbow with a flying, heavy, blunt object.

Its just not his year.

I don't really like him, but that's a solid run of bad luck.

What are they going to do with that space in Cooperstown they reserved for him in his rookie year?

As opposed to rifling a shot top shelf while moving at 20 MPH when someone is legitimately trying to kill you?

Yes, that's correct, which isn't to say that hockey doesn't require any "skill" but pitching is a repetitive and specific motion that can be ruined with a comparatively minor injury.

Put it this way, missing your intended target by a few inches on the hockey rink isn't likely to cost your team a game, throwing a pitch a few inches away from the desired location in extra innings of a playoff game could end your season.

I say all this as a hockey fan. It's just different, that's all.

Tell Gordon Bombay that!

I know you're a hockey fan. I'm just busting your balls. Because there is no hockey.

Ha, Clemens would have picked up the broken bat and run over and stabbed Wieters repeatedly in the chest with it.

I suppose the tears welling up in his eyes before they cut the shot were his lament that he might not finish the inning, then.

Joba would never have been hit if he had triple-deked.

Yes but if he did we'd be hearing about a magnitude 4.8 tremor in NYC.

Considering he took his warmup pitches and gave a thumbs-up to the manager and trainer, yes.
