This is Jazz. (aka Hericula Gertrude, Queen Shiatte of Turd Island) - what a biotch she was to the new kitteh:

I'm afraid she'd tell me! ô¿ô

I got a few good shots of Luscious (read eyes not shut). The shading by her ears and the freckles on her nose are the only 'coloring' she has. Bothe her eyes are icy blue...and she's not deaf. But, oh...what a singer/talker/squawker she is!!

I'm thinking she was a 'drop-off'. The neighborhood boys found her and brought her to me October 3rd. She was very dirty, very hungry and very tired. syzygy whizz: Saw a doggie program where a SERIOUSLY overweight beagle with joint issues got her excercise with...wait for it...
swim therapy!

Speaking as an overweight human with joint issues, this is GREAT. The water supports the body, so gravity is not an issue and one is able to get a surprisingly good workout. The resistance of the water gives the workout a bit more 'oomph' as well as adding a passive massage effect.
Only trouble is getting out...feels like somebody's been playing games with the gravity for a few minutes.

Would your furchild benefit from this, do you think?

Well, he hates water. I do not have a pool (yeah, live in Florida but do not need a pool to maintain) so it would be the tub and that would be a horror for him.

He was stiff this morning and got back up on the bed (using the pet stairs) and rested. I let him stay there for an hour or so and then put him on the floor. He was much perkier once he rested. He is currently hanging out on the dog bed with one of his favorite toys.

He isn't horribly overweight, he needs to drop just under 4 pounds. We started with less food, fewer treats. They ate their kibble happily last night and ate their little portion of food this morning happily. When I leave to run errands they will split a chicken jerky treat (and yes, I make sure their treats and food are made in the USA).

We will get there....just will take some time

Got to wondering this morning about how big Pierogi is compared to when we got him back in early July. He was only 3 and a half pounds when we got him from the shelter, and as of today, he's now 11 and a half pounds. Little turd is about as wide as a linebacker. When he eats, he puts both paws on the sides of the food dish and won't let anyone near it. Waffles finally got tired of it and sat on him one morning when she was hungry. He does it with the water as well, so I'm wondering if it's because of his breed, Lynx Siamese mix, or if he's just a little selfish bully with the food. Any ideas?

Long cat hair/fur into yarn: am not able to spin but have done Knittage. Kudos to tigerose for incorporating catfuryarn; RealWomen, once you Comb Out & decide what you wish done with it (once it's spun) maybe one of us could accomplish your furr-vent wish (ooooh that's bad!)
Am reminded of joke told at last night's Cabaret. "Who's your best friend, your dog or your wife?" Shrug. "Lock both in trunk of car for an hour, then let 'em out & see who jumps all over you." That actually plays out both ways, for licking & for scolding.

Have you ever used Pepcid? From what I understand they tolerate that much better than Prilosec and it works just as well. There is a certain type though...I'll ask the wife when she's up and about (she's really sick with the cooties right now)

Wife is outside on the porch with the neighbor ladies again. About 15 years ago, this would have involved alcohol and trash talk, but now that we're older, it involves iced tea, coffee, and talks about gardening. Anyway, I know she'll love it if I can pull this off, but it won't be easy. I'm currently looking for a Maine Coon in the area for adoption. Not that we don't have enough animals in the house to begin with, but this is something she's always wanted, and would make a nice welcome home gift, or at least a nice Christmas present. Any advice on what to expect from that breed? I'm still cat illiterate, and have no idea if there's anything special about that breed.
