Why do musicians keep going through that same checkpoint? By now it should be obvious that the thing to do is to take a different route.

We have this in Texas?

I hate this. The checkpoints are all about busting Americans, or else La Migra would be cleaning house in every other way.

FTA- over TEN POUNDS of marijuana inside a large green duffel bag (an amount roughly the size of a large bed pillow).

What kind of bricky shiat are they smoking?

And why are bands still touring there? fark Texas and Arizona.

Oh well... any excuse to post this .

Did Roscoe and Boss Hog let them off after they performed at the Boar's Nest? Someone needs to make a celebrity GPS that suggest you should reroute when a celebrity gets near there.

FYI -- this is the same checkpoint where multitudes of celebs have been busted for drugs in recent years ... including Willie Nelson, Armie Hammer, Snoop Dogg, and Fiona Apple.

FTA: "According to law enforcement sources, one of the passengers -- a guy named Brian Keith Jones -- admitted the drugs and the gun were his. He was subsequently placed under arrest."

I believe Mr. Jones should be getting a nice, fat bonus check sometime soon. Maybe Nelly will throw a ho or two his way as well.

Tour buses have a luggage compartment under the bus, and I don't think Nelly loads his own luggage, so I doubt he would have smelled anything while sitting on the bus.

Interesting. Is this a crime or is it immediately a crime whilst another crime is committed?

I don't think you're allowed to have a loaded weapon inside a vehicle. Could be wrong though, I haven't really kept track of the firearm laws in each state.

I'm pretty sure a firearm + drugs = a more serious charge. Can't remember the wording though.

I don't think severity is an issue. They will probably charge him with both violations. Either way, I was just answering the question about it being a crime or not, which it does appear to be.

any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver's compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console. http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode18/usc_sec_18_00000926-- -A000-.html

The US code only comes into play if you're travelling across state borders and you're in a state where transporting a weapon would otherwise be a crime. In Missouri, for instance, your vehicle is an extension of your home so you can carry whatever you want inside the vehicle*. The second you get out of the vehicle, though, things change.

The US code is there so, for example, you can drive with your rifle from Maine to your uncle's hunting cabin in Wisconsin without having spend a month researching the gun laws in every state, county and municipality you'll be driving through. If it's legal where you start, and it's legal where you stop, then it's legal the whole way through--so long as you follow the storage requirements.

* offer probably not valid if you're hauling 10lbs of weed

Sorry but I have a big problem with the idea that someone has an exclusive relationship with a dog that can form the basis of probable cause in an otherwise unconstitutional search and siezure. "Oh he wagged his tail! Turn it over!". "Look, he barked! Turn it over!".

You are probably a stupid prick. Dogs can be trained to falsely alert for drugs on command and some cops even admit that the practice is used. Come on, Nelly's tour bus was a sure bet anyway.

I'm not a dick, I'm a biatch. That's Mrs. biatch to you.

as i understand it, there is no good alternate route without going several hundred miles out of the way. if this is true, these tour managers need to get smart about their logistics.

let's face it, they're not going to completely ditch their drugs (and apparently guns) just so they can make safe passage thru a very short stretch of highway...so here's what they should do...the cops are looking for the tour buses. pay one of your guys to rent a camry, have them carry your illegal stuff thru the area...then if you get pulled over in the bus, you're CLEAN!
