Sure the relaunch was terrible and Sony is preventing Spider man from being in the Avengers where he belongs; but they made money so cares what comic book nerds want.

However, I'm guessing they're casting envious looks at the Titanic-sized load of money "The Avengers" made.

They reboot made some money, I didn't realize there was a need to defend it. The results speak for themselves.

isn't that if Sony doesn't do anything with Spider man for 5 years they lose the rights to it?

So they have to keep rebooting the franchise or Marvel gets the rights back

Tough choice. Being butthurt or collaborating to make a billion in easy money with a minimal amount of effort every 2-3 years?

I feel you, but somehow, I don't think anybody at Sony is going to be saying "Sure, Spiderman has been a very successful franchise, and sure, we can continue to make more money off of it, but what the comic book nerds want is Spiderman in The Avengers. So let's give the rights back to Marvel and let them make all the Spidey dough from now on".

/rather liked the Spidey reboot

2012-10-11 05:06:10 PM
I liked the reboot too even though I did want it to fail so that the film rights would go back to Marvel.

2012-10-11 05:14:20 PM
I'll agree that the reboot is ok as long as Sony issues a formal apology for Spiderman 3. Learn a lesson, the number of villains shouldn't increase with sequel number, Peter Parker being a douche isn't entertaining, retconning the movie story in the third installment is lazy and confusing.

FTA: HP: Shia LaBeouf recently said he was "done" with big budget movies and referred to them as being artless. What do you say to people who tell you there's no art in big-budget movies?

Answer we should have had: Shia is a no-talent ass-clown, so who gives a fark what his opinion is? Based on his acting skills, he wouldn't know art if it slapped him in the face. The only mistake big-budget movies have made is casting him in anything. Something we are happy to fix.

But that might have been too subtle.

They have to keep making new movies but there's nothing that says they have to keep rebooting it. They could just make sequels. They don't need to show Peter get bitten by the spider and Uncle Ben dying every fourth movie.

This this this and this.

And the new Sperman movie will AGAIN show the origin, krypton etc

WHO ON PLANET EARTH DOES NOT KNOW SUPERMAN IS GOOD, STRONG AND FLIES?? What else do you need to know to comprehend a superman movie? Just tell the story!

Yeah, good luck topping Marlon Brando and that Christmas tree ornament smashing through the roof with score by John farking Williams. I'm sure that scene needs improved upon.

What really bugs me is that it kills an hour+ of the film basically to tell the same story over and over again. And unlike spider-man or batman heres's no guilt/motivation hanging over everything superman does.

Besides, IMO no superman film is going to be better than the Diniverse stuff. Sorry.

Same here. The new guy was a thousand times better than Tobey Maguire. He really had the "Smartass Spider-Man" thing down. Tobey trying to deliver one-liners in his narcoleptic monotone was one of the worst things about the previous films.

Spider-man is NOT a member of the farking Avengers, kids its completely out of character for him and even you losers (and Marvel's writers, apparently) should know better. Also the movie was farking good. Suck it, haters.

Whether or not Spiderman should have been in the avengers movie. (It would have benefitted in no way to have his presence) Im sure you can agree it would be better to have spiderman out of sonys cold money grubbing claws and back in the arms of producers who actually care about the characters and could do them service.

Not if doing them service involves putting Spider-man in the Avengers. It's ridiculous FARKERS are on here saying "Sony is just doing a moneygrab! Spider-man should be in the Avengers where he belongs!"

You and me both. I think The Amazing Spider-Man was one of the best Spider-Man movies out in the last decade. And only because Spidey was being a smart ass during all the fights, the web slingers were also really cool to have, and the love story was actually slightly realistic, nerd boy has a crush but wont tell till he actually has the nerve to say something.

Dont get me wrong, Spider Man 1 and 2 were really good movies but Amazing Spider-Man was just as good story wise and better when it came to the character or Spidey.

I very much enjoyed the first two Raimi Spiderman movies, but yeah, this was far more like the Spiderman from the comics. I was doubtful about Andrew Garfield, but he nailed it. Not to mention that Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy was light years ahead of Kirsten Dunst as MJ.

Here's hoping the new MJ won't make me want to slap her upside the head with a halibut.

That is assuming they kill off Gwen any time soon. I hope they do not do that till the third movie at least. Let Spidey have his girl for a while. Then make it an emotional impact. Yes, we all know its coming... but if gaming taught me anything (See Final Fantasy VII and Crisis Core), you can know its coming and still be shocked about it if its done right.

Then we can see MJ (I agree, she needs to someone we care about and hope does not die) come into the frame. And I do like the whole Aunt May and Peter in the new movie. Forgot if he told her about him being Spider-Man or just hinted about it.

why do comic fans complain about them rebooting the spiderman movie franchise? it's not like marvel comics has never "rebooted" their spiderman comics. there are like 20 different versions of spiderman in different marvel continuities, so comic fans have no reason to complain about the movies being rebooted.

Well they're really not the same thing at all. Besides, I'm more of a movie geek than a comic book fan and to me rebooting a franchise after only 10 years with the same basic story (different villain) solely because the studio needs to keep the rights, yeah that's kind of shiatty. At least just crank out more sequels instead of telling the same origin story.

They could not recover after Spider-Man 3... Just that simple. It was horrible... They had to reboot after it. Though I personally did not mind much except that 3 villains was a little hard to follow and the whole MJ leaving Peter was an issue too. I think that's why it suffered so much.
