John Milton: Don't get too cocky my boy. No matter how good you are don't ever let them see you coming. That's the gaffe my friend. You gotta keep yourself small. Innocuous. Be the little guy. You know, the nerd... the leper... shiat-kickin' surfer. Look at me.

John Milton: Underestimated from day one. You'd never think I was a master of the universe, now would ya?

The author called him vain? Vain? WTF?

Let's have a pick of Ryan lifting weights and Biden eating two ice cream cones at the same time.

She left off part of the reason people like The Onion's version of Joe Biden - Biden himself seems cool with. Like he's genuinely OK with the parody, unlike Sarah Palin appearing with Tina Fey on SNL and secretly hating every second of it.

God damn, I knew Yahoo News was just as bad as the worst ballgargling Fark troll, but get a load of this shiat:

This version of Biden recently re-emerged when he told supporters in Virginia, some of them black, that Mitt Romney "is going to put y'all back in chains." The "y'all" was disgraceful, as far as this listener is concerned. After this tweaked-out racism, Matt Latimer wrote in The Daily Beast that Biden should step down as vice president-and that he absolutely would be forced to, were he a Republican.

Those words just eventually creep into your language when you live down here. You also eventually realize that y'all has verb tenses to denote who you are talking to.

Y'all is far superior to 'you guys'. English doesn't have a decent plural second-person pronoun, though y'all I think is acceptable, and should enter proper English (though not of course in academic or professional settings).

"OH MY GOD HE USED Y'ALL! HE SHOULD BE FORCED TO RESIGN!"

Yes it does. It's "you". The singular second person pronoun is "thou/thee"

Last time Biden stood up to pinch hit for the prez, he did very well. I'll be interested to see if unleashing the Biden helps to get the 24 hour news cycle to move on and see if the Romney 1st debate bump has any staying power.

I never understood people who really dislike Biden. Thinking he's a gaffe machine because he says everything that's on his mind is true, but he's not a bad or evil person. He actually seems like a truly decent guy. He made no major investments and took no money from outside sources during his time in the Senate to avoid corruption. He still maintained his home in Delaware during his Senatorial term so that he could be close to his constituents. His speech to the families of fallen veterans is one of the truest, most sincere, and kindest speeches ever made by an American politician.

So yeah, I just don't get why people hate him. Disagree with him sure, but hate...just makes no sense to me.

idsfa: The singular second person pronoun is "thou/thee"

O_o what?

Thou and thee are analogous to the German du and dich or dir. They're simply more affectionate/less formal versions of 'you.' You is the singular second person pronoun in modern English. It is also the plural second person pronoun.

The plural counterpart to thou was 'ye'. It's a shame it also merged into you.

Because he's awesome.

Because he's not rich, he's not super-fit, he's not vain and he's not a douchebag. Because he gets up and stands up for people who aren't as well off as him, because he rides the rails with people with lunch pails. Because when the Onion wanted to come up with ways to make fun of him, they had nothing. Because farker loves him some ice cream.

The reason he's the best punchline in American politics is because he's a perfectly good natured guy who is happy being joked about, and will laugh along with it.

So I guess this answers my question: Joe Biden's not a victim. So our count is at 1.

I think this is going to go okay for the Obama ticket. Ryan is just too high strung and dorky to walk out of this looking good. He can't win on numbers... and he can't beat Biden in terms of charm. Heck, I will be surprised if Ryan can walk out of this without having a tantrum on camera. This isn't Biden's first rodeo... but it is Ryan's. This should be more interesting than the NFL game...

Holy mother of THIS, god!

Although I remember using "ain't" a whole hell of a lot even when I lived in Jersey. Never heard a "youse" (more a "yiz", and that was New Yorkers). "Y'all" is about as racist as the Pittsburgh-y aversion to the conjugations of "to be".
