95629: I like Delaware's plates. License plates are functional, not art to bolt on your car.

[c2.com image 400x211]

Thank you. Enough with the fruitcake designs and stupid shiat printed on it. Number, state, or county if you want, maybe a three-word mottoe. That's it. California plates now come with the website address for the dmv printed on them. What farking sense does that make? There are people unaware of the internet? Is it to register while you drive? Stupid farking farkers and their stupid farking graphic farking design software. STOP shiatTING IN MY EYES!

You know, I'd be perfectly fine if the US adopted an EU style license plate. Easy to read DIN 1451 font, two letter state/province/territory code, white background with black lettering, no room for anything else.

If you have to express to the world know how you feel, get a bumper sticker. But leave the plates alone. Once you start letting people come up with special edition plates, you're going to have people who want plates with retarded controversial bullshiat on them. And that is eventually going to result in lawsuits and tax dollars spent to defend against those lawsuits.

It's because of issues like this that we can't have nice things.

It's pretty basic and boring. The "non-God" standard type we have now isn't bad. Of course, Republicans and old people all have the In God We Trust plates, and this being Indiana, that is the majority of the people.

AssAsInAssassin: wiredroach: AssAsInAssassin: See my last comment.

Funny you mention that...as a designer, I got interviewed by the Great Falls Tribune about the blue "sky" plates that had everyone up in arms. I told them it was like the new $20 bill--people hate when things change.

I worked at the Trib during that non-debacle.

We're practically related.

Not all of us R's have them, but I have considered it, just to piss off all of the "OMGERDSEPERATIONOFCHURCHANDSTATEDERPDERP" douchebags.

I'm not sure the "OMGERDSEPERATIONOFCHURCHANDSTATEDERPDERP" douchebags" are any worse then fundies Mitch was blatantly pandering too with that plate.

Though I'm sure a Governor Pence will settle that question once and for all.

I love my state, it's home and lots of really sincerely nice people here - we do a lot of things correctly, License Plates are not one of them. We have a LOOONG history of farking up plate designs.

When I was a kid we had an entire ad campaign featuring crap like state parks (as if your state doesn't have parks) with a car just driving through cornfields. They called it Wander Indiana. It was awful...

I agree with this. I like the shape of the European ones too. Our squarish ones are ugly.

That plate looks better than this lovely plate I had the option of choosing for my car when I lived in Virginia:

We went back to two-color in Kentucky after it got out that the state was paying 6 and 7-figure fees to graphic artists to design the artsy types.

Good for Indiana, by the look of it, we're talking tens-of-dollars to that particular Rembrandt, but it gets the job done. They rarely do anything that makes sense, so this is my once every half century 'Attaboy, Indiana!' Enjoy it, like Halley's Comet, most of you will be dead before it comes around again.

The Irresponsible Captain: dealers love themselves some license plate frames

THIS! They also love those car decals. And if you ask them to take off the dealership decal before you take it home, they will flip out on you. Apparently removing the dealer decal breaks some sort of super secret car dealer code or something. My sister asked them to remove the decal on her new car and you would've thought she asked them to install a premium sound system for free or something.

And they haven't changed since the black plates ended in the late 50's, save for the gold border they added in the 60's

There is a car in Fort Worth that has one of these vanity plates:
www.connectamarillo.com

It looks pretty close to that, but the vanity plate reads "ITS MYN"

I don't think they thought their plan all the way through because it reads "TITS MYN"

If they had hired the same design company that does bowling alley graphics it would have been so much better. EGAD, talk about uninspired. Or even worse, they probably put this into committee and this is the only thing everyone could agree on.

What's wrong with that?

Texas's new plates (well, since 2009) are stupid and overcolored. Far better something unremarkable and easy-to-read like Pennsylvania's.

/except those wildlife and train special plates in PA
