You could almost see the light fade from his eyes when the As got the second base hit in the 9th. That terrible moment where you realize it's all going wrong

Will Lincecum (TIMMMAAAAY!!) be eligible for relief today?

I hope so...he was virtually unhittable in mid-relief yesterday.

Lincecum says he's available, but Bochy says he won't be called upon. Though in reality, in this situation anybody--including Bumgarner and Vogelsong--could be called upon to come in. Hopefully Cain will pitch deep into the game and pitch well, and then it'll all be a moot point.

Seeing that douchebag Valverde blow it last night was such a thing of karmic beauty. I hope he does it again tonight in even more dramatic fashion, derailing his career and sending him into a tailspin of booze, hookers, and bankruptcy.

Did you see Timmy throw over to first base yesterday when Posey was playing behind the runner, 8 feet off the bag? I think he might've sparked one up between innings yesterday, down in the tunnel. Fortunately, it doesn't affect his pitching.

While I certainly hope the A's win, I'd be pretty surprised if the Tigers put their fate in Valverde's hands again tonight. Especially with Verlander starting.

I definitely agree with you, but in the small chance it does happen my schadenfreude would be quite strong.

I always like to see Timmy and Michael Phelps do well. Makes the "stoners never amount to anything" crowd look foolish.

I think the problem last night was he only took about 90 to 120 seconds in between pitches instead of his standard 3 and a hay to 5 minutes.

I don't see the Nats losing three games in a row, but they suddenly can't hit for shiat, so I don't have a great feeling about today.

This. Though I agree he probably won't get into a game unless things go really wrong or really right for Detroit.

From http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/albert_chen/10/11/playof fs-short-series-favorites/index.html?eref=sihp&sct=hp_t12_a0

"[Alex] Rodriguez has seven hits in 16 career at bats against Saunders (two doubles and two home runs)."

I hope this means that he gets a chance to break out of his slump today. Imagine how sweet it would be (for Yankee fans) if he delivers a big bases-loaded double to give the Yankees a lead and earned a bit of redemption. I know the fans have been booing him, and deservedly so, but I bet they'd cheer pretty hard if he broke out in a big way. The fans don't want him to suck - they want him to be earning his salary - they want to forgive - they want to cheer.

It's the top of the first and Reds fans are applauding and cheering every pitch, ball or strike.
Settle down, it's a long game.

Just let go and accept the fact that it's going to be the Yankees vs the Cardinals in the series. Why? Because the baseball gods thrive on our despair.

It's an elimination game for a team that's been to the postseason what - 2 times in the past 15 years or so? If I was a Reds fan I'd be hanging on every pitch too.

Rolen is old. I like him still, even if he was a giant d-bag during that scrim that caused LaRue his career. He was a heck of a player to have on our team and still fields a hell of a third base.

That was Posey's fault

Close game today.

So-so. Giants had two hits in the first and a runner on first now. Cain struggled with control early on.

And as soon as I post this, Latos starts giving up hits. I'll make sure to comment on Saunders' quality pitching as soon as the New York/Baltimore game starts.

Could you give me some football predictions so I can bet on the opposite?
