I'll gladly accept his renouncement of the pledge. If he were my representative, I might even forgive him. But that's not what he said. The img1.fark.net is for the journalist who asked the question:

MODERATOR: Did you sign the Grover Norquist no-tax pledge?
FLAKE: No.
MODERATOR: Would you sign such a pledge?
FLAKE: No.
MODERATOR: Why?
FLAKE: The only pledge I'd sign is a pledge to sign no more pledges. We've got to ensure that we go back and represent our constituents in a way - I believe in limited government, economic freedom, individual responsibility. I don't want higher taxes. But no more pledges.

He's telling the truth. He's signed it already. It wouldn't make much sense for him to sign it again, now, would it?

And yet he is running on a 'pork barrel' platform like Johnny Mac did.

I respected Jeff Flake until he grabbed onto the Tea Party platform and ran with it. I've no respect for him and he's lost what would have been an earned vote from me.

He was asked if he did sign it and said 'no'.

I think the only problem here is that nobody told this dweeb the right was supposed to wait and see if their little experiment with Mittens Romney actually works. We aren't going to know if lying through your teeth at every turn, even if it contradicts things you said earlier in the same interview, works until after the ballots are totaled in November.

He's jumping the gun on the new conservative strategy of "lie, lie like hell". It hasn't been fully battle-tested yet.

It seems the only thing the conservative party is banking on this election is "I'm white!"

I was cracking a joke. But yeah, there does seem to be proportional relationship to the amount of lying and the closeness of the race (which, honestly, is counter intuitive to me). I think it's the same curve as the Crazy to Hot graph.

Grover Norquist doubled down on douche when he failed to include a bit in the pledge about not massively overspending the budget.

2012-10-11 02:35:22 PM
At the very end of the interview Flake says "The only pledge I'd sign is a pledge to sign no more pledges." thereby implying he has previously signed pledges. Seriously do these guys even know how to tell a lie properly?

The only bad thing the AZ GOP can say about his opponent, Carmona (AKA the *other* most interesting man in the world), is that he's "hand-picked by Obama". Well, yes. That's one of the reasons I'm voting for him.

funny that huh? It's the first farking thing out of his mouth when you call him on the stupidity of his pledge but somehow that didn't quite make it into the pledge.

Add to that the calisthenics the Norquisitors* employ to make every Democratic plan a "tax increase" even when it is deficit-neutral, and every Republican plan passes the Norq-test even when it raises taxes (but only on poor people, so who cares?).

* Norquistadors?

Attention Republicans, you are now officially in "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" territory, and even that has light years more credibility than you.

I still support the Guillotine as a viable option for folks like Grover. It looks like it would be very satisfying. No bullets to buy, either.

I don't care for the guy, but he's not an agent of the government.
He has no more power over the government than what the representatives are effectively giving him.

Blame the representatives that went along with his bullshiat in the first place.

Dems need to stop whining....Flake is one of the biggest supporters of Illegal Alien Amnesty. He even worked with Luis Gutierrez to pass an Amnesty bill. You will be kissing his arse in no time
