Police in Fanwood say a 30-something woman in a red and pink dress made off with a $5,000 wedding gown

They mean a wedding gown with a street value of $5000.

She's white, so I'm not sure that's stealing. She just helped herself to it.

The real crime here is what they're asking for that dress.

I've watched many an episode of Say Yes to the Dress (what? It's a guilty pleasure, so sue me...) and I can tell you $5K doesn't even raise an eyebrow from me anymore.

What a $34,000 "wedding" dress might look like:

Wait. You mean I don't have to pay for stuff because I'm white? Gawddamnit, I've been wasting so much money!

You didn't know that? Dude...

Didn't you ever see that documentary that Eddie Murphy made?

I wonder if she quickly got picked up by a guy in a mustache who wanted to call her "frog?"

Something borrowed - check

and/or

When he sees me in this dress, he'll have to say "Yes". So maybe I'll have to wait until his divorce is finalized. It's better than waiting two years for him, aka the grieving widow, to get over 'his mourning' plus it won't be messy for me. Not that I wouldn't mind stabbing that biatch a couple of times just for making my happiness difficult.

Got the dress. Need to steal some shoes. Swing by the church and priestnap a priest. We'll have the wedding in the park so I can watch for cops. Then, it's off to Aruba for an extended honeymoon/cooling down period. I'll convince him to relocate to California. No way they'll extradite for a stolen wedding dress or priestnapping.

Not stealing. Just another white person scrounging for wedding supplies.

It is both borrowed AND new! Nicely done.

The real crime here is that they're allowed to charge $5000 for a farking dress. What's the divorce rate? 40-ish percent? Put $5000 in your closet for a few years, retrieve it and flush it down the toilet. Same end result. There's is no ROI in a wedding dress.

My sister lives in Fanwood, so me, kick, blah blah blah

Shouldn't it be "flee"? With this dress, I thee flee? Because otherwise wouldn't it be "With that dress, I thee fled?"

Just wondering.

No... but it's the one time in a girl's life when she can be expected to spend big money on something as frivolous as a dress... and damn it... we're going to get the one that we LOVE... no matter the cost.

/spent $500 on mine in '94
//marriage was over in '02
///think I'll use the silk for something steampunk for my daughter, though...
