You sick, twisted, hatemongering, delusional liberal. I pray to God you never get your bloodthirsty wishes... and you wonder why conservatives are so motivated to get this socialist president out of office.

Define socialism. I dare you.

The problem with defining socialism is that is has so many faces, everything from Stalinism to Nazism, The most common denominators, though, are:
1) State ownership (ex: Soviets) or virtually total control (ex: Nazis) of the capital economy,
2) regimentation of the population where the State/Party intrudes in most aspects of private life (both),
3) single-party control (both),
4) rigged (Soviets) or no (Nazis) elections,
5) elimination (Nazis) or State domination (Soviets) of labor unions,
6) emphasis on "external enemies" who are to blame for domestic problems (both),
7) minority scapegoating and persecution (both),
8) leader-worship (both),
9) military expansionism (both).

There are other commonalities, but I've gotta go to dinner in 2.6 minutes.

A good source to see about this is Eric Hoffer's "The True Believer"

Of course, there are democratic "socialist" nations that do not share all of these characteristics (Sweden, etc.) but I would argue that these are actually democratic mixed economy states, where the "socialist" elements have restrained themselves.

I wish I could find the quote now from Chesterton - that news is driven by unremarkable exceptions. A man dies on a rigging, but is not the more wondrous thing the many men who are not dead on that same rigging, and who can, with their hands and deeds, change the world?

His whining doesn't make much sense. He'd rather shut the company down and retire than retire and keep ownership (and income) or sell the company off and at least end up with a chunk of change for his 42 years of hard work?

This guy comes off as either a liar or a moron.

Liar. This guy isn't so much rich as one step ahead of his creditors. So if/when Obama wins it won't be his fault that he has to sell his company (and see a big chunk of his sales staff laid off as redundant by the company that buys them)/declare bankruptcy (and have to sell pieces of the company and layoff staff no longer needed)/ or close up shop all together- it will be the fault of the voters who elected Obama, and of course Obama.

If Romney wins this guy still probably ends up having to make one of these plays, the cards he's been dealt aren't going to change; he'll just need a new excuse.

Where in the hell are you hearing anybody in the US seriously suggesting nationalizing industries? Even with the TARP/FInanical Collapse crap, and shares the US bought ended up being sold back out on the market pretty quick. Nothing on the order of "let's close all the investment banks in the US, and have Congress seize their assets!" I think they even sold off the bulk of the shares in GM, too.

The closest thing I hear to state ownership noises is when dickheads in lifted 4x4's whine "why can't we make cheap gas for everybody? We drill it here! We shouldn't be selling it to the Chinese!" Newflash, assholes: we don't have a state oil company that refines gas just for your Escalade. Exxon yanks it out of the ground and refines it, they can charge your crying ass whatever they want. Honestly? I'm for nationalizing power generation and transportation. If it gets us a maintained grid, more green options and fairer prices over larger regions, it seems like a good idea, We know the current energy companies are screwing things up pretty badly, up to and including blowing up communities. I have to believe if our energy was nationalized we'd all be better off.

For what it's worth, I don't think anybody takes Maxine Waters seriously. She's got to be in one of the safest congressional districts in the universe. She could recommend colonizing Neptune with money confiscated from Burger King assistant managers, and she'd still get elected forever.

And the truth he speaks is, "I will happily piss on any of you low rent serf monkeys who fatten my coffers with your labors and you best believe that, even if this company is absolutely sucking wind, I will NEVER take home a penny less from it every year, and, to be honest, I fully expect you to make sure I make MORE money every year if you have to work twice as hard for half the money, and I shouldn't have to pay for ANY of the publicly funded things I use. That does not equal "You vote for Obama I fire you" no matter how much you wish it does.

No but THIS does:

"The economy doesn't currently pose a threat to your job. What does threaten your job, however, is another 4 years of the same Presidential administration,"

To review:

Economy: nothing wrong with this, your job is fine.
President: incumbent wins? your job is on the line.

Pretty simple, there.

I think he may mean that if tge current president gets reelected, the current economy will get much worse.

Which is a fair prediction.

2012-10-11 12:59:57 AM

clambam: I ahve to say, we've been talking about raising taxes on the wealthy for almost four years now and nothing's been done about it. Since the whole idea was to ameloriate the shortfall in revenues, I have to assume we're even deeper in the hole than ever. Will a return to the 39.5% be enough? Four years ago, it might have. Today, 45% might be more appropriate. I'm sure there will be a lot of crying and whining over that, so I'd like to make the following suggestion:

If you feel you can no longer stomach the burden of paying taxes in the United States, we will offer to buy you out. Simply verify the value of your holdings in the United States (any sudden transfers from overseas will, of course, be taxed at current rates) and the US government will reimburse you in toto, plus 25%. Then it's a simple matter of renouncing your citizenship, handing over your passport, and leaving the country. If you show up on our shores again, you will be prosecuted and send into the prison system of whichever state you happen to be caught in.

It's all about the money, right? Here's your money. Now get the fark out.

Nice. However, that takes Balls. Current Canadian and american governments do not have such things as balls.

2012-10-11 01:02:35 AM

Karac: Siegel never mentions Obama by name, nor does he explicitly instruct the employees to vote for Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

"The economy doesn't currently pose a threat to your job. What does threaten your job, however, is another 4 years of the same Presidential administration," he wrote.

A reporter; a salaried individual, presumably with a college education, actually wrote those two sentences in the same article. Are his readers supposed to think that by 'the same presidential administration' that the dickhead didn't want to see Bush re-elected?

Vote Bush.... because it's easier to spell than 'Obama'.

And rhymes with a beer.
