If that happened to me (and I were a girl, and pretty much an OK person in general) or my wife or daughter I wonder if there'd be any way to get appropriate vengeance on the ape-men that abused their power.

We all know that the answer is "no," and then what does that tell us about what we've let happen to our police?

"An Ocala woman who was arrested on charges of being drunk and disorderly during Leesburg's Bikefest last year filed a lawsuit this week accusing law-enforcement officials of knocking out her front teeth and leaving her half-naked for thousands to see."

Drunk, disorderly, bucktooth and naked in front of the bikers. So in other words, she looked like every other woman at Bikefest.

You'd think that cops patrolling a festival for a subculture fond of naked breasts would have garments for those taken into custody readily at hand. If they stripped her as alleged and forcibly kept her stripped, then her lawsuit is valid, and the officers should be charged with public lewdness or indecency or such in addition to the civil suit.

You want to arrest her? That's fine, and odds are good that arresting her was justified if there was a fight going on. You don't get to abuse those in custody though, and not giving her the opportunity to cover her breasts for many hours is degrading treatment.

Ah yes, the exact same police force that murdered an innocent man last month after they decided to pound on his door without announcing themselves in the middle of the night and shoot him when he answered with a gun in his hand. They then found themselves not guilty of any wrongdoing.

The whole rotten force needs to be fired and replaced from the top down.

What a lovely tidbit injected in that article. So the neighborhood has a murder suspect around, the people are on their guard, and then someone in their home gets shot by police. Since he can roll out of a murder charge, this lawsuit should be a cake walk for him and the other officers.

All of this is predicated on her having had the top on during the scuffle in the first place... which if you've been to these kind of shows, is barely a 50/50 chance. As drunk as she was, she probably doesn't even remember where or for whom she whipped it off and tossed it away.

It doesn't farking matter.

They should have covered her up. They deliberately humiliated her by leaving her handcuffed behind her back and with nothing covering her breasts for at least two hours. Did you get that part?

Loren:

Exactly. It sounds like she brought every bit of it on herself. The only wrongdoing on the cop's part I see is not providing her some sort of cover.

You think it's acceptable for an officer of the law to break three of a handcuffed suspect's teeth? When her alleged crime is ... what, shouting? Oh, right, "she bit him." When he stuck his hand in her mouth, but hey, she's a biker, and a woman, and not cute enough, so she deserves to be beaten and paraded topless in front of a couple of thousand people, then leered at and groped at the cop shop. That's what you really think?

Agreed. Cops don't generally carry spare clothes on them when going to a call. But by the time she was in the back of a patrol car, she should have been offered a blanket or something. And certainly by the time was in the station. However, I'll point out we don't know that she wasn't offered such. If she was in the state of mind to assault police officers, I find it very plausible she would also refuse something they offered to her. As usual with this sort of story, we are only getting her lawyer's version of events.

You know, if I bit a cop while resisting arrest, I'd expect to get my ass kicked too. Of course, I don't get drunk and fight in public, either. That's why I"m not a tattooed, (now) toothless piece of trailer trash

What's this bit about studying to be a nurse? How many nurses do you know who get into drunken brawls at biker rallys? Maybe she's in some sort of program, as part of her rehab, to teach her how to be a dental hygenist, or bed-pan emptier...but she's not going to be an RN. My sister is an RN, step 1. is "get a 4 year degree in biology from an accredited institution". Something that doesn't free up a lot of time for smoking crack, downing oxycodone, and getting into biker brawls.

If this gal was combative before the cops got there, while she was being addressed by them, during her arrest and AFTER she got her teeth knocked out, that sounds like a behavioral disorder and/or whacked on the dope.

I know when i worked as a bartender dealing with drunken chicks was the WORST, sometimes in the bar you'd have to escort fellows out if they were being dicks, sometimes you'd have to escort out chicks, but with a chick you're screwed right off cause if you roughed them up your an asshole. Luckily i didn't have too many runins with the crazies.

seeing as this was a biker party i guess they didn't send any female cops or don't have any but if the female officers handled the female crazies then when the mouthy/resisting arrest chick is taken in there are not as many grounds for lawsuits.

It means "misogyny readily available on Fark.com." That's really all. You seem to be reading too much into it.

Fark has its share of misogyny. Occasionally, I am reminded of just how much. That's what I said, and that is what I meant.

2012-10-11 01:32:13 PM
I've seen footage of arrests where it sure looked like the police were trying to peel the arrestees clothing off. Back in the 1960s, pairs of cops would regularl grab female demonstraters by the legs and armpits and spread the girls' legs for the cameras. We got a lot of girdle shots on the local newscast. Later, some occupy footage showed two cops playing tug of war with a man's pants on one end and t-shirt on the other.

That said, I have no sympathy about the cracked tooth after she bit the guy, but they could have covered her tatas after they had her cuffed, especially if they were going to throw her into a mixed holding cell.

What's wrong with just saying "misogyny" without dragging Fark into it, then? Do you also talk about "Earth misogyny" when encountering it out in the real world?

I'm honestly not trying to be an asshole here, but it just sounded like you were trying to pin the misogyny of a few specific users on Fark as a whole... That's how it reads to me, anyway... *shrug* It also fits with how lots of other people are always trying to pin certain viewpoints on "Fark" as if it were a single entity... Like how to the conservatives, Fark is nothing but libtards and socialists; to the religious, Fark is nothing but loudmouthed atheists and anti-religious douchebags; etc... When the truth of the matter is Fark is made up of a very wide variety of different people with different views and beliefs on a number of topics... Just like real life! If you find yourself trying to ascribe a shared common belief/attitude/behavior to "Fark" as a whole, you're probably going to be wrong if that is anything other than "Visits Fark.com sometimes"... (With some, you can probably get majority agreement, like "bacon/booze/boobs are good"... But, I still would hesitate to ascribe them to Fark itself...)

Can you find misogyny on Fark? Of course... You can also find racism, homophobia, right-wing conservativism, left-wing liberalism, anti-homophobia (homophilia? that just doesn't sound right), anti-racism, and anti-misogyny... Should they all get a "Fark" label prefix?

MadAzza: HoratioGates: Did she ask them to cover her up? You'd think that would be something that should be in the suit, and it's not being mentioned makes me wonder.

It doesn't farking matter.

happydude45: Maybe she should have left when requested to do so and not bitten an officer's hand later. Just a thought.

I keep hoping Fark misogyny isn't as bad as I think it is. But really, it's worse.

Hey, these heroes were in fear for their life.

What heroic deeds have you done for this great nation?

RobSeace: MadAzza: It means "misogyny readily available on Fark.com." That's really all. You seem to be reading too much into it.

Fark has its share of misogyny. Occasionally, I am reminded of just how much. That's what I said, and that is what I meant.

I am of the opinion that bacon/booze/boobs are, in fact, good; and I am unanimous in that.
