MeinRS6: How do we know the revisions to these numbers are coming after the election? - Link

And when they are revised, the BLS will sound just like the Obama Admin does today on Libya. "We didn't lie. We were reporting on the information that we had." Except that's not really true in the case of Libya or in the case of the BLS, as numbers from the past indicate that a serious adjustment will need to be made.

It is the official unemployment number. It is not the health of the economy and it does not reflect the individual situation of any particular voter. It is generally an indication of how hard it is to get work if you want work. That's it. It also happens to be the economic indicator the GOP latched on to, to show that Obama sucks.

Clearly it is improving and is on a relatively good trajectory. Drop 2.2% since Obama passed his first budget in October 2009.

As a GOP supporter you pretty much only have 3 sane choices and a 4th insane choice in how you react to it.

1) Even though we have latched on to the U3 before when it was about 8%, we no longer think it is the best indicator of unemployment today (suggest new alternative like U6 that isn't dropping as fast)

2) Things didn't improve as fast as they should have or the U3 would be at 5.4% today if McCain/Palin would have won

3) Obama has little/nothing to do with the improvements in unemployment, this is just the market correcting itself

4) CONSPIRACY!!! Soros and Fartbongo have infiltrated the BLS to cook the books and steal the election

MeinRS6: I already posted a link that described in detail how this number was different than the previous months - and any other moth in recorded BLS history.

The four examples of unemployment reduction in a slow growth economy show no pattern. Using your quoted source, the ration of net new payrolls to household employment are:

May 2010 - 15.18
Dec 2010 - 0.42
Jan 2011 - 1.00
Sep 2012 - 0.13

LFP rate fell during 1, 2 and 4 (as it has consistently for over 20 years) and rose only for 3. Tea leaves and baked turtle shells generate more consistent patterns.

And you're "not suggesting a conspiracy"? You fit in just fine with the other RW apologists who don't seem to have any qualms about lying about their own statements. But I'm sure you'll "clarify".

I'm saying that history shows us that these numbers will most likely be heavily modified after the election.

By using a link to the AEI? One of the host of neocon "think tanks" that basically rates the Obama administration as equivalent to the Stalin regime? Yeah. sounds legit.

Remember, this statistic was perfectly okay and arrived at properly in past months when it made Obama look bad, but now that there's some good news that might help Obama, it's all "OH MY GOD! CONSPIRACY! THE BOOKS ARE COOKED!"

I guess a little honesty is too much to expect from the modern GOP.

STFU tard.

Oh you are here. Welcome back, Mr. Dinkleberry.

So you are basically saying that BLS cooked the books specifically to help Obama, right? What about all the other times when the numbers weren't so favorable? Did you say then that they were cooking the books to hurt Obama?

Or is the real reason that you are so wedded to the concept of "your team" winning (GOP) that you would actually like people to be out of work and struggling to make the "other team" look bad?

Turn in your American citizenship, shiatbird.

This! so many times over. Republicans have been telling this uneducated, easily swayed people for four years that Obama is evil. That he is a demon straight from hell sent to destroy everything they love.

If he wins. Again. Despite all this? Despite their fervent belief that god is on their side and justice is on their side and this USURPER cannot possibly be president because he is EVIL and WRONG and he is coming for their children and their families and their faith?

You can only bombard people with that message for so long, and then have them be disappointed in the results for so long, before someone snaps. Before a lot of people snap. This could get very, very ugly.

Of course, Republicans will blame Obama for the increased cost of Secret Service protection for the President.

GhostWing: meat0918: Christ Almighty, these guys hate that America is doing better.

It could not be more obvious.

After all the hard work from Fox/GOP, from birth certificates to "fast and furious," nothing has gained the traction these people have been hoping for.

Apparently, the hearings on Libya haven't properly panicked the masses enough to suit the party ... so they're rolling the dice on this.

If the GOP hadn't spent the last four years being a bunch of petulant, nation-starving jerks with a "stop-Obama-at-all-costs" attitude, they might have managed to give their guy a clear lead for this election.

As it stands, their entire campaign boils down to "vote for Obama and we'll make your life hell for the next four years."

And they wonder why people don't respond to them ...

I remember liberals here warning Republicans that non-stop trivial stories focusing on arugula, mustard, and birth certificates would lead to average Americans tuning their criticism, even valid criticism, of Obama out.

I have here in my hand a list of 205-a list of names that were made known to the Secretary of State as being members of the Democratic Party and who nevertheless are still working and compiling reports at the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Our investigation has resulted in a moral uprising and will end only when the whole sorry mess of twisted, warped thinkers are swept from the national scene so that we may have a new birth of honesty and decency in government.
