He's going to win. It's too late to get him primaried, and if that happened, it would probably be an even Tea-Baggier Republican in his place.
Maybe next term.

Sounds like a peach of a guy, though.

Did a little more youtubing on the guy, he also tried to get the US to default on its debts, and fought against the government using "persuasive language" to assert such silly ideas as consuming too many Twinkies and Sodas might make you fat and give you diabetus.

Nice guy though.

what bothers me is that he isn't unique. Newt Gingrich has done similar things to his ex wives. Limbaugh preaches family values and has had multiple divorces. plenty of mega churches have pastors who lie, cheat their congregations out of money and have gay sex while preaching against the evils of homosexuality.

Abortions to save the lives and lively-hoods of our great leaders are fine.

There just can't be abortion for the commoners who make poor decisions. That is about destroying their future to prove we are moral and just.

If you call a Republican on their hypocrisy, you're "engaging in dirty politics."

That race featured charges culled from DesJarlais' divorce from Susan DesJarlais, which was finalized in 2001. The filing included allegations that he held a gun in his own mouth for hours in one instance and that he "dry fired" a gun outside his wife's bedroom in another.

This is pretty common behavior for teabaggers.

RedPhoenix122: Family Values: Do as I say, not as I do.

I honestly don't think Republicans believe this is the way that is correct, or moral, or anything. Current Republicans just put the blame for all problems on all people affected by them. You didn't make enough money? Must be lazy. You got pregnant? Should have used birth control. House flooded? Shouldn't have built it there. You need a bailout? Unless you are a multibillion dollar business, you don't deserve it, peon.

I would love to be a Republican. Blaming everyone else for their own problems is great, however we live in a society that values making moral decisions, helping our fellow man when we can, and complex problems have complex answers. I wish it was so easy as blaming the victim.

2012-10-10 02:26:08 PM
"You told me you'd have an abortion, and now we're getting too far along without one," DesJarlais tells the woman at one point in the call while negotiating with her over whether he'll reveal her identity to his wife.

He also told the woman that there is no stopping in the white zone.

I don't know why we're blaming this guy when the woman's body could have just shut down the unwanted pregnancy, but I will admit he could use some advice from Romney on how to make his abortion stance fit the appropriate audience at any given time.

"Desperate personal attacks do not solve our nation's problems, yet it appears my opponents are choosing to once again engage in the same gutter politics that CBS news called the dirtiest in the nation just 2 years ago."

You know how you can avoid such attacks? Don't be a hypocrite. Know what else doesn't solve the nation's problems? Pushing a moral agenda in the public arena that you do not believe nor adhere to.

I find this sort of defense so farking maddening. Akin is pulling it, too. Calling you out on your mistakes is considered "gutter politics." Give me a farking break.

It's the hypocrisy, stupid.

I don't give a flying pygmy fark what people do in their private lives. But, when you pontificate from your pulpit, and then get caught doing the exact same thing you were rallying against, you deserve to be mocked, criticized and persecuted very harshly, and very, very publicly.

This about sums it up:

It doesn't matter what I do, people need to hear what I have to say. There's no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn't matter what I live. - Newt Gingrich, explaining to his second wife how he was able to have a mistress and still go out and campaign on the need for family values.

Everyone who thinks Romney would be the worst possible President, remember that this sociopath had a decent shot at the nomination for a while.

You don't understand. The GOP holier-than-thou types won't care. There's always an excuse for when 'they' need to do those things that they so explicitly declare as vile/horrible/etc. It was a 'situation' that had to be addressed.

Now, for anyone else they deem to be an 'other', someone 'else', then those circumstances don't matter. They need to live with the repercussions of their actions. But try to apply the same requirements to themselves, that's awful, just awful.

I can wrap my head around the hypocrisy because that's part and parcel of what it means to be a Republican these days. But that he recorded the phone call himself in order to have his wife listen to it is farked up beyond measure. Okay putting aside that he's in Congress, how in the fark does this retard get through medical school?
