They're not going to make the small trucks again so fark them.

Loved my B210 back in the day.
I put some wide tires on it and as a manual it got good gas mileage.

Dad has a used one of these.
It ran until he traded it in for something with a V8.

That lasted about a years worth of poor MPG and he was back in a 'nissan'.

VW really needs to make a small truck again. The Datsuns were rust buckets... I did enjoy driving my 1970 204z though.

Te reason they can sell them for $3K in third word shiatholes is the lack of pesky emissions and safety regulations.

My dad had a wagon a lot like this one. That car was nearly bomb proof.

I love how advertisements have changed over the years. I miss ads like this that provide actual information about the vehicle, rather than some bullshiat blurb.

My dad bought a used B210 in the early 90's. Damn thing was like an oven in the summertime.

Tata couldnt figure out how to make a car in India for $3000 that the public would consider buying.

Nissan will fail as well.

Renault-Nissan already has a cheap car line: Dacia. outside of western Europe, it goes as cheap as 5900 euros. and the Logan is pretty crappy. Nissan also tried selling a re-badged Maruti-Suzuki Alto called the Pixo. A friend of mine had one of these, and at 7900 euros it was also a POS.

I shudder to think how terrible a $3000 new Nissan would be, and i'm not sure if said crappyness could compete with used Toyotas.

But if they don't come out everywhere, then what will the good people of the world drive back to the phone company (the record store, too)? Buicks?

I had a pair of Mazda B2000s from the early 80's. I learned to drive in a '79 Chevy Luv. There is no reason to not have these trucks still on the market. Make them plain, bare bones (AC, power brakes, basic radio and nothing else). Put wing windows on them. Make them all small turbo diesels, and so forth. Then sell a shiatload of them and make your billions on volume not high prices.

There's already too many Datsuns in this town.

Had a Datsun B 110 (that's one one zero). So small I could turn a full circle on my driveway. I called it a go kart with doors.

Had an 1983 280ZX (in red, of course) for my first three years of college (in the 90s)....

Absolutely LOVED that car.

Hope to get another one some day.

Rule #1: consumers don't want to buy a car that's on fire.

Not a Datsun, but I do have a soft-spot in my heart for kei-cars... even ones as prone to unintentionally do a 360, like the Subaru 360 :P

The front of that car totally reminds me of a Datsun my parents drove back until I was around 6 in the 80s. Don't know if they sold it or if it finally crapped out on them. Ours was a puke green sedan from the 70s.

They are probably going to lose a ton of money making really crappy cars that can't be sold for what it costs to make them.

It's the Dacia Logan but close. It is supposedly an ok if very basic car, so it has no central locking, no air-con, no electric windows, no cup holders, no sat nav, manuel box and the radio is an optional extra but the mechanicals are solid and it's reasonably safe (3 out of 5 for the EuroNCAP crash tests). For 5600 euros its the same size as a ford mondeo but costs less than a fiesta.

I would very much like to see an inexpensive and well built bare bones style car sold here in the US.

There is a lot of talk, but no pictures of what these cars will look like. Sounds like they are kicking around the idea, have set some targets, but haven't really done any design work. I expect to either see this idea fade into oblivion, or get announced as cancelled if Nissan ever does invest anything into it.
