dr;too sad.

Annette has had MS for about 20 years. And as "mild" as President Bartlett's was, Annette's has been horribly, horribly bad.

Very sad. Her husband is a saint.

Hard to watch. You've been warned.

She was a very classy lady. Growing up in Central Florida, of course Iwent to Disney World so many times I never realized what a trip there meant to some people. She would be at the park from time to time just as a guest and would always make time when someone wanted to talk to her.

//lol Annette and Fishbone FTW

That's a possibilty. I'll disable & try again.

That is really really sad. I don't wish that on anyone.

Still, I don't know why she didn't just invest in a dressage horse.

2012-10-09 10:38:05 PM
Well, that was a knife to the gut.

What a good man he is.

So sad..Many a Boy had their first .. Impure thoughts.. brought about by her spectacular Rack on the Mickey Mouse Club. When i get along in my illness, i'm not going going out that way damn it..
And yes, her husband is a Saint...

2012-10-09 11:12:37 PM
:(

What a shame.

2012-10-09 11:21:54 PM
god dammit. I watched that with my wife and made her promise never to let me get like that.

so sad.

Sadly, done in one.

Jesus... I started tearing up. Couldn't watch the whole thing. A very good friend of mine has MS & while he isn't to that stage, he isn't able to walk anymore, he's in a scooter & he's very weak & shaky. That's an awful thing.

2012-10-10 08:33:23 AM
The saddest thing about Ms. Funicello's MS diagnosis is that her hand was forced to "come out" with it because the tabloids were reporting she was an alcoholic.

Mind you, this was before the internet, so it was a pretty big deal.

One of my fondest summer memories was going to the shore and seeing a double feature of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" followed by "Back to the Beach". I didn't understand a lot of what was going on, but hey, Gilligan.

2012-10-10 08:38:14 AM
Evil, evil disease that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

2012-10-10 08:40:36 AM
Soon as I saw she had MS, I closed the page. Brother died of that and it took him nine years. I'll eat a pistol before I allow that to happen to me.

Jesus. Now I has a sad.

2012-10-10 09:02:52 AM
I maybe made it ten seconds into the footage of her and stopped. I can't imagine that happening to people I care for. Not even able to talk... God damn. I gotta go hug some people now.

If only MS got as much research money as Viagra.

2012-10-10 09:25:21 AM
Pretty hard to watch. My Great-Aunt was diagnosed with MS decades ago, before the treatments that are available now, but she's been lucky to have a relatively mild relapsing-remitting case.

And my GF has MS, also relapsing-remitting. Diagnosed 2 years ago and been on steady treatment ever since.

Not a big fan of the CCSVI theory. The actual scientific data is way too contradictory, and there were huge problems with the initial studies by Zamboni. If anything CCSVI is a side-effect in some proportion of MS cases, and NOT the cause. The surgery is also risky.

Coelacanth: If only MS got as much research money as Viagra

Just covering the medications for patients would be a nice start. We do that here in Nova Scotia through an endowment and research institute here at one of the Universities, but even in Canada I think we are only one of two provinces that cover the medications. Otherwise they can cost a lot of money.

What happened to Shelley Fabrey is more disappointing. Aging sucks

I...I don't know what I was expecting...but not THAT. My god. Nothing like a good cry at 7:30 in the morning. So very, very sad.

/ And yes, her husband is wonderful. We can all be so lucky...

I love her hair, though. When I get all wrinkly, I totally want to have crazy cool old lady hair like that. Unfortunately, mine will probably end up looking like my Aunt Linda's - a gray poodle carpet. Meh.

That's not likely to happen here in the United States anytime soon. We have eugenics here, not health care. There are conservatives here in Nevada that claim high medical costs weed out the weak and undesirables and like it this way.

Reminds me of that guy who auditioned for American Idol. His fiancee was gorgeous and they had a lot of things going for them then she was in a bad accident. She had traumatic brain injuries and pretty much looked like Annette. It was awful and the guy proposed to her even in her current state. Pretty much like Annettes husband....but in his 20s.

2012-10-10 10:38:36 AM
That is absolutely heartbreaking. If I was at home instead of work, I might've cried.

And yeah, Shelly Fabares, what happened there? Looks like she got a facelift/eyelift that left her looking like a completely different woman altogether. Why do people do that to themselves instead of just saying yeah, screw it, I'm just gonna wrinkle?

I live in the US, have MS, and my treatment is covered. Tysabri costs just around $6500 per month, and I don't pay a dime outside of my insurance premiums. My company provides pretty solid benefits.

And yes, it would be nice if MS - and all the other sh*tty diseases that are still around - saw as much research money as boner pills and baldness cures.

2012-10-10 11:20:18 AM
Saw Annette at Disneyland in the 90's taping a TV segment. She looked very frail back then.
I had no idea it had become this bad for her.

Her husband is a saint. A SAINT !

/ Wife couldn't watch the entire video. Too depressing.

2012-10-10 11:20:59 AM
That sucks for her and her husband so much. Call me weak if you want, but if I get to that point I'm telling everyone to just let pneumonia run its course and finish me off as quickly as possible.
