something doesn't seem right with this story. normally, they file initial charges that would include 2 counts for each weapon he had, where are those charges? gives them leverage to negotiate. so they already have, but aren't saying it?

he wasn't carrying an unopened bottle of evian. Good to know that if i'm ever going to the US, I simply leave my smoke grenades and bottled water at home, and just bring my happy-fun-bag.

Oh, and the flame retardant pants is because of the no smoking policy.

While the original charter did extend Massachusetts western boundary in definitively it did not include Los Angeles. Of course this might have had something to do with it being federal court.

Maybe he just doesn't travel a lot. I worked with a guy who got twitchy when had to go to a conference in Dallas. Maybe he though it was the old west but first he asked me if he should have a cousin who lived out there meet us with a gun. Later he ask if things went wrong would I have his back. Guess he though engineering conferences were tough places.

Other than the scary smoke grenade, none of the items is illegal. It's much ado about nothing.

Many, many people collect large numbers of actual deadly weapons. Each one must have been transported at some point. "Bad things" happen in a very, very small percentage of cases.

It might seem scary, but there's no actual threat (other than the smoke grenade) if any critical thinking skills are applied.

The LAPD bomb squad determined that the smoke grenade fell under the United Nations' explosives shipping classification, meaning it is prohibited on board passenger aircraft.

Harris faces one count of transporting hazardous materials. The charge carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison.

I wear flame retardant clothing for work everyday. Not just jeans, everything. Well, technically it's "arc-rated" rather than just flame retardant. People wear it for working near electrical power, and other lines of work where explosions can occur. The guy wearing FR pants on their own wouldn't matter too much, but with all that other stuff.... Every time I travel for work I'm wearing AR2 (>8cal/cm^2) clothing through the airport.

What you should be asking about is the item subby left off the list - cooking tongs.

No, seriously, the guy had cooking tongs in his checked bags.

I sort of get the rest of the list. There's a theme going there that I can follow. But then you add in the cooking tongs, and I admit, I'm a bit lost as to their inclusion.
