"First rule of politics, kid. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story."--- Nucky Thompson, Republican

God Is My Co-Pirate: Nucky's policies were a lot more pro-women than the modern GOP.
BravadoGT: FTFA:"National polling released Monday continues to demonstrate an apparent Mitt Romney surge, with the Republican nominee at least pulling even with President Obama -- and in one poll shooting past him -- on the heels of what Gallup deemed the biggest debate victory in recorded history."But why let the facts get in the way of a good liberal/anti-Fox circle-jerk?
EyeballKid: God Is My Co-Pirate: Nucky's policies were a lot more pro-women than the modern GOP.True, but he was manipulating holier-than-thou doofuses to his bidding, a tradition continued by the current GOP.
sweetmelissa31: I disagree. On October 9, 2012 at 7am, Peach the cat strongly debated with me over whether she should have some food while I was still in bed. After rifling through my tissue box and hitting me in the face, she was pronounced the winner of the debate.
The Stealth Hippopotamus: JFK vs Nixon (TV) > Reagen vs Mondale > Reagen vs Carter (2nd) > Romney vs Obama
Aarontology: So basically, the expectations on Romney for the next one are through the roof.
GAT_00: The good news at this point is this is absolutely true. You can't lower expectations for the next one, not realistically. And the President has nowhere to go but up.
Jackson Herring: As the moderator of this debate, I have to agree. Truly a crushing defeat.
sweetmelissa31: Jackson Herring: As the moderator of this debate, I have to agree. Truly a crushing defeat. The worst part is that she won by lying the whole time. If you look at the girth of my cattes, you could understand that neither of them has ever been hungry.
Aarontology: GAT_00: The good news at this point is this is absolutely true. You can't lower expectations for the next one, not realistically. And the President has nowhere to go but up.Yep. Romney absolutely has to kill it next time. Attempting to lower expectations on him is saying his performance in the first debate was a fluke.
Aarontology: I heard sweetmelissa31 eliminated billions of dollars in MediCat.
GAT_00: It probably was, though it was a fluke on both sides. Romney convincingly lied in a manner we haven't seen in 5 years of campaigning and Obama sucked like we haven't ever seen. But I can't see how Romney's people can put that in a statement and have it be convincing. So now Obama's people can imply that Romney is going to be just as good or even better than last time, and worry about how good the President can be because he's too busy and he doesn't have as much time to prepare as last time.
God Is My Co-Pirate: I suspect Peach is always looking for a handout. Don't give in, just lower his food allowance, and motivate him to work the can opener for himself.
Jackson Herring: Honestly though, it just hit me how utterly disgusting it is that the "biggest debate win in recorded history yes even the one they wrote about on the rosetta stone" was the one where Romney just got up there and lied through his teeth. Anyone still talking about death panels in the year 2012 should literally be laughed out of politics, and yet...
Aarontology: I think Romney has to know that too. he hasn't really tried to capitalize on it much himself (not that I've seen anyway) so I think he knows Obama is going to be all candy ass about it again
GAT_00: He talks about it, he's just begging for stories about how his lies are bullshiat, which could erode his performance. It's like they suddenly figured out how to campaign.
Jackson Herring: Peach is a she.

tenpoundsofcheese: Thems the facts. This was the biggest shellacking in debate history.
gilgigamesh: tenpoundsofcheese: Thems the facts. This was the biggest shellacking in debate history.Absolutely.Sing it from the rooftops, friend! Come on, don't be shy! From the gut now!!
tenpoundsofcheese: meh. Romney's playing the long game.0bama was stupid enough to think he was debating the Romney that he was lying about during the campaign (doesn't want regulation, killed a woman because she didn't have insurance, giving $5T in tax breaks to the rich, ate a dog, etc).Still several weeks to go.
Jackson Herring: Seriously though, does anyone actually think Stockdale had a better debate? Or does recorded history end like ten years ago?
thomps: what does it say about the value of presidential debates if the "biggest debate win in recorded history" only brought the winner up to a 25% chance of winning the election.
tenpoundsofcheese: /besides, trends, how do they work?
