Also, stop being an honorary captain for Stanford football games. We're 0-2 when you've done that.

Didn't he just apologize to his teammates for his horrible play at the Ryder Cup as well?

He farked up his marriage, his body is farked up, and his golf game is farked up.

Never thought I'd say this, but it kinda sucks being Tiger Woods right now.

He's probably still doing that. I think his wife catching him in that mess just happened to coincide with him getting off some kind of juice. If you look back 3-4 years, he probably had at least 20 more pounds of muscle if not more. He dropped about 20 pounds right around the time all the MLB players were getting caught juicing...

So how much must every other golfer in the world suck if Tiger Woods is the #2 player in the world with a farked up golf game?

Some genius pain in the arse will probably correct my numbers... but at the height of his success. There was a greater difference in ranking points between Tiger and number 2 (Mickelson I think)... than #2 and #50.

If I remember right.

He "sucks" compared to old Tiger Woods. By any other measure, he is still "great".

Time catches up with everyone but I'll just point out that today's Tiger Woods doesn't have to play the old Tiger Woods. So I don't know why people think that is a reasonable critique of Tiger.

If the only other person in the world that my golf game is "farked up" in comparison too is a former version of MYSELF? I'll die happy.

Oh, and here's Rory's day.

"Facing Matt Kuchar in the first round, McIlroy went a couple shots down early before imploding over the last four holes of the match, going triple-bogey, double-bogey, double-bogey starting on the 15th to lose by six shots."

That looks like my line most days.

Is Rory's game "farked up"?

Kinda what I was thinking. One guy on the planet won more on tour than he did this year (and that's Irishman McIlroy) and his world golf ranking is all the way back up to #2 (behing Mcilroy again). If that sucks, I'll have what he's having. In other news, by this metric, every single US based player 'sucks' now.

I suppose maybe, roid rage could explain his terrible on course demeanor as well. I had heard David Duval's drop off was similar in nature.

No shiat. When I hear 'snakebit' I think of 35 year old single dudes with over 100 million on ice who made another six million dollars playing golf this year and are currently ranked ahead of all their peers save one. Really, how could it get any worse?

I don't have the stats, but how much of that is Tiger's game coming down (and it has) versus everyone else's game coming up?

Has Tiger dropped off more or has the field just gotten better?

It's really hard to say. We could look at scoring averages and stats and what not... but that wouldn't account for courses getting progressively longer and more difficult.

Best answer is it's a little of both. The biggest problem with Tiger's game has been putting. He's always been a masher... and just a little wild... but his shot game always bailed him out.

Now... not so much.

If his 2012 is punishment, sign me up - I've been bad. Very bad. Despite his 'downfall' there's not a single American player who played better than woods this year. Not one.

Tiger won how many US Amateur titles? Do you not know that the US Amateur is mostly elimination match play? He knows how to win match play. He's just massively inconsistent and has days where he's almost unstoppable and days where he makes John Daly look like a decent golfer.

Numbers three through 150 on the money list say 'if that's inconsistent, sign me up'. Inconsistent is just another way to spell g-o-l-f. He's just a magnificent golfer these days - he used to be a freakin' alien.

3...

and 3 Juniors I think too.

The rap on Tiger is that he sucks in team events... most people just extend that to include all of match play.

The entire US Ryder Cup record of the last 15 years shows that most American golfers suck at team play. This isn't exclusive to just Woods.

Plus 3 Accenture World Match play titles. A little googling says that Tiger is 4-1-1 in Ryder Cup Singles matches. Not too shabby.

Impossible to say really. On the one hand, Four majors is a lot - how many guys still playing have four for their whole career? Then again it's like one every year and a half for 6 years. I wouldn't bet he would and I wouldn't bet he wouldn't. I think it's a push. I bet he'd be a happier person if he'd let go of the idea and just play golf and have fun. And perhaps a better golfer too.

Hard to blame Woods for two of the three team losses. Stricker was useless. Woods was only bad in the Friday alternate shot.

He will come one short... or possibly tie Jack... IMO. If Tiger works through his current "problems", he might have two years where he can be a consistent #1 ranked player and win 1 or 2 majors... after that... the game will just get progressively harder for him as he gets older. Couple that with the exceptional level of talent out now and coming up... and he'll be lucky to win one more.

It's not that Patrick Cantlay, Jordan Speith or TJ Vogel are going to be the next 'Tiger Woods'... it's that there will be a crop of guys playing in the next 3-5 years that are all capable of playing much better than Tiger on any weekend...

I have a vision of the future... a friar tuck balding and pudgy Tiger Woods hitting the honorary fist tee shot at The Masters... at age 62... one short of Jack's record... hitting a balloon ball into the trees... and cursing at himself... "Goddamit Tiger! Get in the game!!!"
