My friend accidentally smacked him in the head with his bag while we were boarding a flight to Boston a couple of weeks ago, then read his speech over his shoulder on the flight. I couldn't exactly place him, then I googled "Old Congressmen" and bam...

Considering the sheer number of DC Council Members who have been investigated for and/or lost their seats over ethics violations in the last couple years, this isn't a surprise.

He's got a big-ol' melon. Bastard's gotten at least three rides in the back seat of F-16s at the Air Guard. I worked on them for lots of years and never got a ride.

A better researched article might have discussed the status of other Mayors and Governors and City Councils/Legislatures vis-a-vis the local sports team and seats.

I know for a fact that in Maryland the Governor's office has a box for the Orioles and the Ravens. The state-run stadiums authority was the entity that raised the $ to build both stadiums so I guess that's how it worked out.

Subby: No it's DC Council AND National Parks both turned down tickets from "The Nationals" a team.

And, if anyone actually read the article, would realize that the DC mayor did not, in fact, perform the action claimed by subby, but instead treated them as any other gift to the city - in other words, he didn't claim them for himself, but for the office, according to already established guidelines. Events DC also turned down the offer.

In other words, nothing untoward happened here, as everybody actually played by the rules, so... ?

Ironic. The last mayor, Adrian Fenty, pissed off the Council by refusing to share Nationals tickets with them.

Nice to see the raised level of discourse.
