AnotherOldFart: tonguedepressor: I'd like to see somebody get him to explain how he isn't guilty of a single count of molestation. He had 52 counts against him by 10 different victims. So the whole thing was a giant conspiracy against poor you Jerry and Penn State as part of an elaborate 20 year plan to milk $$ out of a lawsuit, is that what you're claiming Jerry? What's going on in his mind that he thinks he can get people to believe him?He has to say he is innocent otherwise they will throw his appeal out. He can't show remorse or guilt for a lessor sentence either. He's in a catch 22 and deserves everything he gets in prison for what he has done.
lectos: I am not sure why anyone is surprised by this happening in a homoerotic sport. Jerry was just living out what you all fantasize about while watching sweaty men play with a rubber ball.
StreetlightInTheGhetto: Rape is NOT a NON-VIOLENT OFFENSE. Your age does not excuse you, nor does your risk of flight. No. If protection is needed, then protective custody/your own cell it is, like every other damn rapist in the system.
Deathfrogg: TheGreatGazoo: Even if he did get out, the Penn State fans would run him out of town on a rail after tarring and feathering him.Whattaya talkin about? A lot of folks are still defending the guy, and his Lawyer support fund is still getting enough money coming in, and fat enough to support several appeals, which he is already planning to do.
HAMMERTOE: valkore: Whew, glad your philosophy isn't shared with any modern Western country. Although I'm sure there are quite a few countries run under Sharia law that agree with you.You did your level best to sound like a relieved perpetrator. Are you? Are you even considering?
FuturePastNow: He won't serve 30 years. He'll be dead in five. Child molesters don't last very long in prison. That's just the way it is.
spentmiles: As a child psychologist whose worked some heinous cases, I think the real sadness is not for Sandusky, or his victims, but the victims of his victims. Kids that haven't even been born yet are already standing in line to have one of Sandusky's targets take their psychological scars out on them. I'm not saying that every victim of molestation goes on to molest, but I'd bet heavily that upwards of 90% of them do. The victim becomes the perpatrator, on and on, paving the road to hell with the broken hearts of mothers and fathers.Sandusky has ruined generations. He's responsible for thousands of future crimes. I don't know what punishment pays that bill, but it surely isn't 30 years on a minimum security cuddle farm.
Prank Call of Cthulhu: To all those thinking that Sandusky is going to get raped in prison, how do you know he's not going to be doing the raping?"Hurrrm. None of you understand. I'm not locked up in here with you. You're locked up in here with me."
The My Little Pony Killer: varmitydog: [msnbcmedia.msn.com image 600x429]But Graham Spanier isn't going to jail. The man who was in THE key position to put a stop to all this and didn't has just walked away from the scandal, after the flimsiest bit of plausible deniability. And nobody is even talking about him anymore. He's picked up an executive position with a firm that does "consulting" work for the Department of Homeland Security, a government make-work program. That, and the slap on the wrist to the Penn State football program, makes one think that there is a whole lot more to the scandal than just SanduskyWhich is why the entire program should have been shut down.
OgreMagi: Justice has not been served since Penn State still has a football program. It was their attitude of "football first" that allowed the crime to continue for decades despite numerous eye-witnesses.
Warlordtrooper: OgreMagi: Justice has not been served since Penn State still has a football program. It was their attitude of "football first" that allowed the crime to continue for decades despite numerous eye-witnesses.Yep the current students and players deserve to be punished. That's logical
HAMMERTOE: "Justice" requires returning everything to equilibrium
Warlordtrooper: Yep the current students and players deserve to be punished. That's logical
Bashar and Asma's Infinite Playlist: HMS_Blinkin: In this monster's case, yes. It's hilarious and well-deserved, actually. No person deserves to be raped, and our prison system shouldn't be institutionalized vengeance.
ExperianScaresCthulhu: shrug. Paterno should be in a cell with him.
Cyclometh: bulldg4life: I figured this was setup for one of those multiple hundred year sentences. Why only 30-60?Because it's within the standard sentencing range for the crimes he was conicted of?/just spitballin' here.
tonguedepressor: AnotherOldFart: tonguedepressor: I'd like to see somebody get him to explain how he isn't guilty of a single count of molestation. He's in a catch 22 and deserves everything he gets in prison for what he has done.Do you think he believes his own lies or do you think he's saying "I can beat this, I'm f*cking Jerry Sandusky! It's my word and reputation against 10 ghetto rats."
AngryJailhouseFistfark: A college education is for learning the readings and geographies and subjects and matriculations and What Not...
TheGreatGazoo: Even if he did get out, the Penn State fans would run him out of town on a rail after tarring and feathering him.
mainstreet62: cgraves67: Am I to understand that it is a 60 year sentence with the possibility of parole after 30 years?I think he can get released when he's 98, if he makes it that long and/or the Sisters don't get to him first.
wxboy: For those who think 30 years is too short:If he's still alive when he's 98, he'll most likely go straight to a nursing home and sit in a wheelchair with an oxygen tank, and have no visitors, so he'll die alone and probably senile. Better that the taxpayer doesn't have to put up the additional money to house him. He won't be hurting anyone at 98.He'd also have to admit guilt to get out that soon. If he's still physically capable of doing anything harmful, he'll probably still be maintaining his innocence like he is now, and thus wouldn't be released.
Bashar and Asma's Infinite Playlist: HAMMERTOE: Call it what you like, but revenge is really what it's all about, regardless of your rationalizations. It should be about rehabilitation, and absent that, protecting society from those who can't be rehabilitated. Just because a victim can never be returned to their pre-crime status doesn't mean that the criminal should be tossed into the coliseum for our entertainment.
LiberalEastCoastElitist: This problem is bigger than Penn State and bigger than football. Look at the Catholic church and the Air Force basic training scandal.
Cyclometh: False premise is false. What dictionary do you use, anyway?
HAMMERTOE: Bashar and Asma's Infinite Playlist: No person deserves to be raped, and our prison system shouldn't be institutionalized vengeance.I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you there.Once a crime has been committed, "Justice" can never be truly served, because true "Justice" requires returning everything to equilibrium, which is entirely impossible. You can never return a true sense of domestic security to somebody whose home has been burgled. You can never "un-rape" a woman to the point that she will totally be unaffected by the experience. And you certainly cannot "un-murder" a person. Therefore, you can not return a family that's been broken by a deliberate inhumane act. Knowing that their loved one suffered, and was in abject terror, while they were powerless to act, will scar them forever. You can make yourself feel better, tossing around sanitized clinical phrases like "closure," but there is never true closure for those affected. Therefore, "justice" is a misnomer. What the victims, their families and society demands is retribution. Yes- "revenge", "vengeance", whatever you want to call it. A victim in a car accident will never be totally whole again, so what does society do? Enact financial vengeance upon anybody connected with the incident who can be found "at fault", even partially, with pockets deep enough to extract some money from. Catch a woman selling sex to survive? Extract a little revenge for not living according to the rules.Call it what you like, but revenge is really what it's all about, regardless of your rationalizations.
vudukungfu: bluorangefyre: Not long enough. There's still a slight chance the farker could get out alive. Why didn't they sentence him to the maximum of 442 years?Because Pennsylvania is a corrupt state run by a corrupt Government and a corrupt Police force.Toss in some corrupt businesses, and corrupt schools, and you have DAs dissappearing and kids getting raped and no one sayig anything. I mean look at how they treat their water in that state. Well, they don't.You have some of the most ignorant folks on the planet living there. They even have their own bastardization of "Y'all" and think fraking will save thier hides, when all it will do is deplete any reserves, pollute their already destroyed streams, and devalue the existing properties.
chatikh: Yes I think Sandusky should be raped. But not at the cost of other people getting raped too.
