spentmiles: Is he still allowed to work with the Penn State football team? Seriously, with all the time on his hands, he could game plan some serious defensive wrinkles. It would give him a positive outlet and help the team rebuild its beleaguered program. He did the crime. Now he's doing the time. Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water.

spentmiles....bringin' it. *giggle* I feel dirty now.

To all those thinking that Sandusky is going to get raped in prison, how do you know he's not going to be doing the raping?

Bashar and Asma's Infinite Playlist: No person deserves to be raped, and our prison system shouldn't be institutionalized vengeance.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you there.

Once a crime has been committed, "Justice" can never be truly served, because true "Justice" requires returning everything to equilibrium, which is entirely impossible. You can never return a true sense of domestic security to somebody whose home has been burgled. You can never "un-rape" a woman to the point that she will totally be unaffected by the experience. And you certainly cannot "un-murder" a person. Therefore, you can not return a family that's been broken by a deliberate inhumane act. Knowing that their loved one suffered, and was in abject terror, while they were powerless to act, will scar them forever. You can make yourself feel better, tossing around sanitized clinical phrases like "closure," but there is never true closure for those affected. Therefore, "justice" is a misnomer. What the victims, their families and society demands is retribution. Yes- "revenge", "vengeance", whatever you want to call it. A victim in a car accident will never be totally whole again, so what does society do? Enact financial vengeance upon anybody connected with the incident who can be found "at fault", even partially, with pockets deep enough to extract some money from. Catch a woman selling sex to survive? Extract a little revenge for not living according to the rules.

Call it what you like, but revenge is really what it's all about, regardless of your rationalizations.

He won't serve 30 years. He'll be dead in five. Child molesters don't last very long in prison. That's just the way it is.

2012-10-09 11:48:47 AM

NkThrasher: I'm less concerned about him in particular and more concerned with creating a real legal deterrent. 3-6 years per child's life ruined to me doesn't say "Society will fark your shiat up if you do this". 10-20 per child's life ruined is getting there. 20-40 sounds better to me. If he is getting effectively a life sentence, make it a LIFE sentence, send a message that this type of behavior is completely unacceptable and you will disappear into a cold dark place waiting to either be killed by other inmates or die of old age. Send a message to victims that if they come forward they will be listened to and their tormenter will disappear. Not for 3-6 years. But for decades at least.

/Zero sympathy for anyone who hurts children like this and doesn't immediately turn themselves in seeking mental help.
//Still has barely any sympathy for anyone who turns themselves in seeking help, but it's more than zero.

For giving out blowjobs to boys.

And yet, the Austrian scumbag who imprisoned his daughter in a dungeon and raped her for some 30 years usually gets a "proud Australian hero" from you farkers.

Sandusky has been sentenced to, basically, life. But no matter how heinous his crime, the fact remains that the university athletic department covered it up, enabling him to repeat the crimes for several years. Regardless of how many months per act Sandusky has received, there are still those around who enabled him. Paterno died in well-deserved disgrace and his name has been taken out of the record books by the NCAA vacating all of the wins for however many years. The university has paid a hefty fine. But what of the others whose complicity allowed this to go on for years after it was discovered?  What is their sentence?

Interesting, so this piece of shiat finally gets what he deserves. Meanwhile Mike McQueary, who witnessed some of this go down will get a nice payday from Penn State and fade away pockets full....Interesting.....

vegaswench: AbbeySomeone: I expect him to start singing like a canary now that he's been sentenced. There were many others involved in this. But yeah, if he does that he'll get 'suicided' real quick.

He is appealing the case and will die in denial.

bluorangefyre: Not long enough. There's still a slight chance the farker could get out alive. Why didn't they sentence him to the maximum of 442 years?

Because Pennsylvania is a corrupt state run by a corrupt Government and a corrupt Police force.
Toss in some corrupt businesses, and corrupt schools, and you have DAs dissappearing and kids getting raped and no one sayig anything. I mean look at how they treat their water in that state. Well, they don't.
You have some of the most ignorant folks on the planet living there. They even have their own bastardization of "Y'all" and think fraking will save thier hides, when all it will do is deplete any reserves, pollute their already destroyed streams, and devalue the existing properties.

Prank Call of Cthulhu: To all those thinking that Sandusky is going to get raped in prison, how do you know he's not going to be doing the raping?

He wont. He doesn't fit the profile.

99% of prison rape is done by heterosexual males. It's a show of power. It has nothing to do with love or 'the gay' or homosexuality.

Sandusky is going in completely vulnerable. He'll probably be put in PC, but that wont necessarily keep him safe.

HAMMERTOE: Call it what you like, but revenge is really what it's all about, regardless of your rationalizations.

It should be about rehabilitation, and absent that, protecting society from those who can't be rehabilitated. Just because a victim can never be returned to their pre-crime status doesn't mean that the criminal should be tossed into the coliseum for our entertainment.

Bashar and Asma's Infinite Playlist:

I'm not an ethicist, but it seems to me that should Sandusky get raped, he has sacrificed any right to complain about it. It then seems to me that if you can do that, you can deserve to be raped.

I had an ex-cop who worked in prisons tell me that child molesters, and others too, were raped so badly in prison that their guts came out. But he was a real piece of shiat himself, so I took it with a very large grain of salt.

Bashar and Asma's Infinite Playlist: Just because a victim can never be returned to their pre-crime status doesn't mean that the criminal should be tossed into the coliseum for our entertainment.

I'd like to hear you justify this assertion. Here's my justification for mine:

When a murderer has devalued an innocent life to the point of assuming that life is theirs to take, the closest we can come to "justice" is to also devalue the murderer's life. This is the whole reasoning behind the justice system. Why else would the preferred form of punishment for lesser crimes be the revocation of the constitutional right of Liberty? Protection of society? This is your rationalization to exposing pot smokers to serial murderers and rapists by common incarceration?

bluorangefyre: star_topology: bluorangefyre: Not long enough. There's still a slight chance the farker could get out alive. Why didn't they sentence him to the maximum of 442 years?

He is going to die in prison anyway.

He's 68 now. At minimum sentence length he'd be 98 years old if he managed to survive. Now factor in thirty years of medical advancements, and theoretically speaking he could actually still get out alive and be 128 years old.

He'd probably look like this though:
[upload.wikimedia.org image 250x272]

You assume they get the same level of care in the prisons as in a nice nursing home. And I suspect he won't be put in any form of general population and will soon die from a combination of depression due to isolation and high blood pressure because that's the default setting for a coach.

He'll be 98 by the time he gets out. Hundreds of years of sentencing is pointless unless we are going to keep their corpse in the jail cell for the remainder of it.

Rape has never been funny. Ever.

fickenchucker: More like "illegal motion" or "illegal hands to the minor".

Every now and then the old eye-for-an-eye school of punishment seems appropriate. I say chain him to an examination table and let every psychopath in prison have a go at his flabby and depends-wearing balloon knot until the incident-count is equal to what he did to those kids.

With no lube, just for good measure.

Know how I know you've never farked someone's ass before? Without lube, it hurts the top a LOT more than the bottom.

Why does anyone think he'd be raped in prison? He's too old and ugly...though Richard Spec got regularly rogered (it's on tape even) so maybe...still, I think the odds are if he was around other prisoners he'd be beaten and eventually killed instead of raped. That's what's more likely. Which is fine with me. Guy's a true scumbag.

2012-10-09 12:09:04 PM
He'll be in protective custody. Alone, paranoid, and surrounded by guards who want to hurt him. For 30 years. Fine by me.

Sandusky will appeal the sentence. A longer prison term will be easier to appeal, and since 30 years to a 68 year old is basically life anyway, this sentence has a better chance of sticking.

30 years doesn't have that crack of doom feeling like a 500 year one, but it's safer and the end result is the same.

I'm a guard in a men's prison outside of Phoenix. Whenever a guy like this comes in, we always rub a little pine tar around his asshole. It draws the rapists out like flies to honey. And it's hard for him to wipe off so we don't have to keep reapplying it. I can't go to a baseball game and smell that stuff without cracking up.

Who are you talking about? I don't know anybody supporting him.
