PIzza Hut. Hah! They only had one product I liked back in the day. That "New Yorker" pizza. The crust was different and I think the sauce was sweeter. But they were full retard when it came to ordering. I went cell-only back in 1999 and the prefix for my cell phone number wasn't in their ordering system so the phone monkeys would say, "I'm sorry but I can't enter your phone number in our order system." Then I'd have to talk to a manager who would enter the order with a fake phone number and put my real phone number in the order notes.

In 2000, there were three Pizza Huts in that town. By 2005, there were zero. Big surprise.

And now I want pizza.

Real Women Drink Akvavit: Sybarite: Pizza Hut pizza for life? Is that a reward or a sentence?

The Pizza Hut near my house is the closest I've found to the Lamppost Pizza in Amaheim. Still deficient in a lot of ways, but kinda-sorta close. Lamppost was greasy, but what flavorful grease it was! Also, all the grease was on top of the 'za. The Pizza Hut near my house has a greasy, yet fairly flavorful deep dish crust with little grease on top. I still prefer Lamppost and get it every time I go to SoCal for visits, but if I want greasy "kill me now by clogging my arteries in two slices" I go for the deep dish crust from the Hut.

/good thing I can't eat two slices at a time

Because of your use of the Z word to refer to pizza, I was going to suggest you kill yourself or something like that, but the amount of times you wrote "greasy" in your post suggests you're nearly there.

Meaningless question.

Pepperoni IS sausage.

sigdiamond2000: MaudlinMutantMollusk: sigdiamond2000: Pizza Hut is the worst pizza in America, bar none. And it's also one of the most expensive pizza chains out there.

How is this place still in business?

Why do we have reality shows and Honey Boo Boo?

But those are free. Pizza Hut is more expensive than any other pizza chain and it tastes like boiled ass. You can buy a better, larger pizza at Little Caesar's (granted, it's still pretty sh*tty) for half the price. It's simple economics. It's my basic argument against places like Olive Garden and Red Lobster, too. It's not so much that it's crap, it's that it's not even cheap crap.

Also: Don't impugn all reality shows. Project Runway is awesome.

Exactly! I don't understand people who go to Red Lobster. The nearest Red Lobster to my location is just down the street from a Mexican restaurant called El Rancho Grande. El Rancho Grande had better tasting fish, shrimp, and lobster than Red Lobster at about half the cost. If I want to pay Red Lobster prices, I can go to a really good seafood restaurant and get even better varieties of fish cooked in amazing ways. Red Lobster is crazy expensive for what you get, and the quality is on a par with Cap'n D's or other fast food fish chains.

Saiga410: As for the best pizza. Davis Bro's in Peoria IL. It is ultra thin crust, almost no sauce.

No way. Dough Brothers in Cortland IL. There phone number is the local exchange plus 0000 - great for drunk ordering.

I certainly won't dispute the second half of your sentence... (Though, every once in a while, I find myself in the mood for boiled ass!) But, the most expensive, really?? I don't know about the Pizza Huts in your area, but around here, PH tends to be pretty much the cheapest pizza you can get... The only thing cheaper is Little Caesars, and they suck at least as badly as PH... For instance, a large super supreme from PH is $12; an equivalent pizza from Domino's is $18.49; from Papa Gino's $19.19... If you only want a small/medium pizza with very few toppings, then maybe you might get cheaper elsewhere... A Domino's medium with only pepperoni and sausage is $11.99, where the price from PH bizarrely remains a fixed $12 no matter what size or toppings you get (unless you move down to their little "personal pan pizza", and then it's only $3.50 for pepperoni and sausage, and only $6 for a super supreme)... (For a while around here, it was a fixed $10 for any size and unlimited toppings... Now, I guess they've bumped it up to $12 apparently... But, seriously, what a farked up approach to selling pizza: just charge everyone the same thing no matter what size they get or how many toppings they get! Madness...)

both Little Caesars and Dominos are worse. If im out of town and i need my pizza fix, i try to at least find a Papa Johns. Thankfully when i am at home, my problem is deciding which amazing pizza place i will go to that day.

Good pizza selections in Canada are harder to come by (luckily Edmonton has a Famoso's) but Papa Johns is the late night/delivery go-to. Always reliable.

Pizza Hut is the best of the chains in my area and not overpriced compared to the others. The thin crust ends up cutting my lips to shreds though If I eat it cold. All the local pizza loints are owned by Greeks and you could lube an 18-wheeler with all the oil they pour onto a pizza. My favorite is Regina's in the north end of Boston. They have bottles of spice infused oils, spices and cheese on tables to let you doctor your slice.

Lochsteppe: DeaH: Pizza Hut: the exception to the "Even when it's bad, it's still pretty good" rule. There must be fans of greasy, tough, biscuitty crust covered in a brownish sauce (from way too much oregano) and cheese-food product, but it is the one pizza I will not eat.

The last time I ordered a Pizza Hut pizza (yes, kind of on purpose), it tasted like chemicals. I think they had forgotten to wipe the Easy-Off out of the oven. Haven't ordered from them since.

/Didn't bother to complain, because I figured they'd give me a coupon for a free pizza which I'd be compelled by OCD to use, which would result in another chemical pizza, which would result in another free pizza coupon I'd be compelled to use, ad infinitum until I died of oven cleaner poisoning.

//God how I miss The Pie.

Well, then you are in luck (from their website):

"You asked for it! Now you can get famous Pie Pizza by mail anywhere in the United States!"

I'll just continue getting it from the restaurant but I'm sure The Pie by mail is still going to be much better than eating chain pizza.
