Too snarky. It doesn't strike the right tone. A straightforward "Mitt Romney will let Wall Street run rampant, but he'll crack down on Sesame Street" would have been more effective. This comes off kinda bratty.

I think Obama might to well to walk away from last weeks debate. Any reference to it just reminds paople of his and Romney's performance.

Obama did in speeches after the debate. That doesn't excuse his performance but it doesn't mean he's not countering it. Of course, Big Bird makes better copy, no?

Have you been asleep for 18 months? The Republicans don't care if you call them liars. They celebrate it, because annoying a liberal counts as a victory to them. The debate showed that style matters more than substance. If this is the one thing that resonates from the debate, use it. This is what people will remember. I wish that's not the way that life worked, but it is.

This is the stuff that shows up on Fark.com. You know, the website with the by-line: "It's not news." Using Fark as a news source will distort your perception of what's actually happening in the election. And by 'distort', I mean amuse you while you widdle away the hours waiting to forget to vote.

Yeah, because the undecided voter is studious and involved, and is really interested in numbers. The people that are left to be gotten are the people who have the potential to see something like this, and have it resonate as a "Mitt is dumb" moment. And then vote for Obama. Talking to them about tax cuts? Not so much.

I really hope in the next debate Obama just completely ignores the moderator, turns to Romney and steamrolls him point by point on every single lie while actually using the word lie. During the foreign policy portion Romney is just going to turn around and lie about everything he said regarding Libya while effectively pretending that Obama's actual, in-progress foreign policy is his own. It would be great if Obama just ran him over and didn't even let him get started.

You're exactly right. If someone is still undecided at this point they most likely don't care enough to actually work St understanding issues. What will sway them is sound bites and general good or bad feelings about a candidate.

To be fair:

"The Obama campaign confirmed to TPM the ad will run on broadcast and cable nationally. The campaign said the ad buys will be "targeting comedy shows specifically," suggesting the ads will run in late night. "

So, it's meant to run on The Daily Show and Colbert. It's supposed to sound bratty.

To be fair, a lot of decided (read: partisan) voters aren't particularly concerned about the facts either.

This is why Obama let Romney run off at the mouth unchecked during the debate. He let him get as many lies as he could out so that in later campaign ads they could be pointed out.

I agree with both comments to an extent.

Obama specifically and the Dems in general need to grow a pair and start fighting back and stop being door mats.

That noted, if Mitt can "win" a debate with bald faced lying and body language then sure the Dems should just go with what works, with what finds traction and resonance with the haplessly fickle undecideds.

Even if it's a seven foot tall talking yellow bird.

Why do I get the feeling that Romney is going to find himself "trumped" after the next debate.

In that following the debate, after Romney is certain to have criticized how Obama is handling the aftermath of Libya, it will be announced that the leaders of the attack have been identified and killed and that the Libyan government is praising the "partnership" with the USA in bringing these folks to justice.

Kind of how Obama went out and launched a merciless joking attack on Trump at the correspondents dinner, only for us to find out that while it was going on, the attack on Bin Laden's compound had commenced and UBL was now dead. Taking all of the wind out of Trumps sails and leaving him totally irrelevant with his birther nonsense.

Still going with the Obama lie about 5 trillion, huh? The tax policy centw r already walked back their initial estimate by more than half due to American enterprise institute pointing out one of numerous flaws. So even if you believe tpc is the only economic analysts out there, you and Obama are repeating a stance they already backed off from. Other policy groups have already shown how Romney and his plan work multiple times. The tpc report was full of failed assumptions Romney never made. But keep being an Obama mouthpiece for lies, it is what fark expects from you.

People are generally lazy and dumb with short attention spans. Explaining that you would have to cut 200 PBSs to pay for Romney's planned military spending increases is too complicated for half the country, let alone attempting to explain that your overall taxes can go up even if your rate goes down if deductions are cut, and only someone who pans for gold in their bathtub would be optimistic enough to think you could not only get the average voter to understand the differences between salary, dividends and capital gains and how they are treated by the IRS but also to override their emotional reactions to these issues.

Killing Big Bird is a simple and easy to understand concept at about the level where your average undecided voter can understand national policy issues.

No. His plan for an across the board 20% cut in income taxes, the removal of deductions (while being deficit neutral) , and net lower taxes for the middle class has never shown to work. They have said it is possible to do the first two, but that is it.

To his credit. And to Obama and bidens credit, they voted for the "bail out" too, unlike many GOPers in congress who would have let the world burn.
