Well, I'll bet that investigation turned up some interesting news...

But it's the Palestinians that don't want peace, right?

I've been to a few heated movie studio meetings, they aren't pleasant.

West Bank settlers aren't filthy animals, but they're close.

Umm, no, that's exactly why they formed those patrols if subby took a second to RTFA.

Remember folks it's only the Palestinisns who are bigots prone to violence.

As part of the effort to apprehend some of the attackers, last week police officers disguised as Palestinian shepherds approached the Mount Sinai farm.

Heh. Pretty easy to bait violent racists.

2012-10-09 10:07:12 AM
I had no idea there were undercover police officers attempting to address prejudicial attacks in regions of Israel. They are subjecting themselves both to physical violence and verbal disparagement from the attorneys representing the defendants. I hope the average person respects and appreciates the work they are doing to try to build a more just and equitable world.

2012-10-09 10:09:06 AM
But the Palestinians are the only aggressors, all settlers are misunderstood victims of circumstance, and you hate the Jews for thinking otherwise.

2012-10-09 10:10:53 AM
What a weird sting operation. Nobody thought that some back up might have been well in order?

Love the fact that the settler assholes are going with the "We had no choice, they were coming straight for us" defense here.

Having several Israeli friends over the years (most of them being of the more "secular" variety) they readily concede that a lot of their countrymen are as radical in their religious views as any muslim radical.

They typically view them, much as most farkers view the extremist tea party crowd, the phelp's clan and sovereign citizens.

Not too much of a surprise that a group who believes that God has singled them out above all others, would feel that they are entitled to physically abuse anyone "below" them (who is not blessed by God, like they are.) Hell, look what some of the more extreme jewish groups in NY do to "outsiders" who do something as nefarious as ride a bicycle through their neighborhood wearing what they deem to be "immodest" clothing. If they feel they can get away with this crap in America (and unfortunately, they largely do) why would anyone suppose they have any compunction about doing it and getting away with it in Israel.

If he wasn't acting so Arab-y then the settlers wouldn't have to beat him.

You know, when I saw this headline on Reddit, I thought it was the settlers that were dressed as Palestinian shepherds, as in a false flag to rile up the cops. But this is just stupid.

They should send out the tiniest cop they have dressed as a shepherd and carrying a slingshot and see what happens.

not really. looks like a civil war among rival clans from here. hatfield and mccoys, or jayhawkers and john brown. thats what it looks like to a non-jewish american. like two inbred halves of the same coin going at it forever, and trying to draw everyone around them in to choose sides.

Israel and the United States are to blame for this violence. Israel encourages West Bank settlements and by not demanding that they stop, so do we here in the US.

We have repeatedly asked Israel to stop the settlements, and they have not, and we have done nothing but write them checks.

A slow motion invasion as my Palestinian neighbor calls it. The sad thing is he used to work building the settlements when he was young, let that sink in for awhile.

No no, there might not have been any ships at all involved in the Gulf of Tonkin incident. The better analogy would be the Gleiwitz incident.

Fixed.

This isn't really about religion, it's about tribalism i.e. that other group of primates is competing for resources with my group of primates so we're going to hit them with sticks just like our primitive ancestors did.

Is it? This was the police *trying* to find the settlers that have been beating Palestinians (a fact which surprises and pleases me-the fact that there was an undercover sting operation to find the perpetrators, that is. Not the beating part.). I'd say they did a bang-up job of that.

A point of clarification - the land is (arguably) Israel's to build on. Yes, they're pissing everyone off by doing it, but they have the right to build.

Now, if we want to get into a "whose land is it, REALLY?" discussion, I hear the exit door calling my name.

// and the settlements should have screenings before people move there
// "Why are you moving to a settlement?"
// "TO RESETTLE MY ANCESTRAL HOMELAND IN PREPARATION FOR THE COMING OF THE MESSIAH"
// "...go back to Bet Shemesh, nutjob. We're not letting gas cans live in the Dry Kindling Room."

That's not the stupid part. The stupid part is the beatings in the first place.

I agree that it's slightly heartening that they were investigating at all. I would have expected a the law to sweep it under the rug and give a 'goys will be goys' response.

The UN disagrees. Most Israeli's are normal and want to broker a deal. Israeli could have peace and recognition if it wasn't for their extremist right wing.
