Addressing subby's question: Whovians aren't trying to aggressivley recruit new members, accumulate vast wealth and political influence or restrict scientific consensus, sexual expression or reproductive rights, so it's nothing like the religions most people have been forcefully introduced to.

FirstNationalBastard: Yeah, but Stupid RTD tried to make the Tenth Doctor into an emo Jesus with the horrible way he went out.

"I DON'T WANT TO GO! WHY DO I HAVE TO SACRIFICE MYSELF FOR YOU? WAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

No other Doctor ever made you want to see him regenerate as much as the Tenth Doctor did.

I really wished that RTD would have followed up The Waters of Mars with Ten gone completely off the reservation, and The Master is somehow tasked with stopping him before he breaks the universe trying to rewrite fixed points, and the Doctor is mortally wounded in the process.

Premeditated_Road_Rage: "Let's forget everything I wrote that made 'Blink' an awesome episode and the Weeping Angels cool and unique." canon-urination-bath that was "Manhattan".

I don't think this is really true. Here the Angels did exactly what they did in "Blink", but they were smarter about it. And unlike their last appearance, we're back to not seeing them move. I think the real issue is that they're a monster which only works once.

FirstNationalBastard: And the Second Doctor wasn't whining, he was always biatching in outrage.

Yeah, that was not a whine. Let's see... he just caught someone abusing TARDIS technology, and dropped the dime on them because it was more important to stop them than continue hiding from the Time Lords. His reward was to have a forced regeneration, get exiled to Earth, and have his companions mind-wiped and returned to their native timelines.

That's some bullshiat, right there. I'd be pissed too.

The My Little Pony Killer: So popularity is the only requirement for religion now?

Creepy.

I think that was always the only requirement.

steamingpile: Dr Who sucks.

Not as much as Torchwood. Cause that sucks more than 4 guys sucking off 5 guys. Literally. Dr.Who, while questionable, is still decent to middling sci-fi, though heavy handed with it's preaching. At least we've gotten dinosaurs.

COLIN. BAKER.

First off, I was talking about the actual regeneration scene, not the Doctor overall.

Second, Colin Baker's Doctor was farking great, but done a horrible disservice by mostly shiatty stories and a shiattier BBC Controller.

I have a feeling that something like that might be coming up for the 50th anniversary next year. The departure of the Ponds seemed to break something in Eleven.

As to a Who religion, I've heard of dumber things to base one's moral code on.

OK I'll have to say I didn't like the way he went out. But he was my favorite of the modern Who.
