The lack of religion is religion.

Buttknuckle: I have come to realize something in the past couple years...

Atheists who look down upon others for their religious beliefs are arrogant. You cannot win an argument with an Atheist, because it is about logic. Religion is about BELIEF. There is so much we don't know out there and to assume that we as humans are "it" is arrogant as hell, IMHO. But it really bothers me when Atheists look down on those who get happiness and serenity in their lives with religion. Of course, this is contingent on the fact that they are not religious nutjobs trying to convert everyone in their path.

I agree with you, it's about mutual respect. I don't give a shiat what you believe, as long as you don't try to convert me or kill me or take away my freedom. This goes for religions and political parties.

Sadly we don't live in that world. Everyone from all sides, want's to take an individuals freedom away.

/Atheist who supports a Free Market, Free Sexual Expression, and Free Exercise of Religion. And of course Free Drugs...
//Moved to a bunker in the desert and am an ordained reverend. Working on building my free association cult of free sex and drugs...

I humbly promise to stop exposing the obviously wrong, deceitful, ignorant, and illogical religious arguments on the Internet when they stop telling me who I can and cannot marry.

When my civil rights are on the line, I don't care how many religious nutjobs I offend. They obviously don't care if they offend me.

gameshowhost: Fastest Growing Hobby Is 'Not Collecting Stamps'

Its more like the fastest growing hobby is actively seeking out trying not to have any hobby. Not indifference to collecting stamps, but rather choosing to have no hobby whatsoever.

I can marry you to whoever you want. I am a non-denominational reverend. i have the same matrimony powers as a captain at sea...

You may not get the government tax breaks and financial benefits, but in the eyes of each individual or whatever god or spirit or existential experience you want it will be valid or whatever vows you want to make to each other... I'll do it.

Spanky_McFarksalot: really? because I see it claimed all the time one of these studies come out.

No, you don't. You just don't understand the difference between absence of belief, and absence of religious affiliation.

kgf: If someone believes in a god, but say they have no religion, they are wrong.

Also incorrect, by the most basic logical rigor.

Buttknuckle: What I believe is none of your business as long as I show tolerance, even love, to my fellow man.

If all religious people followed your line of thinking, there would be no need for any of this discussion. Human history would also be a much less shameful story.

Since I've not yet been killed for being a heretic I can safely say that I've never actually met a religious person. Good to know some people are still faking it, though.

Leeds doesn't want to name names to protect the innocent, I can understand his concern, because Patient Bastiche probably wasn't the only one posting in those threads...

right FloydA?

btw, here's a fun fact, if you are curious who founded the Idiot Brigade just go back and read all those threads (there were at least 4-5 of em)

and fwiw abbey tried to reason with them, but he made one fatal flaw, you can't reason with the IB

/it's unpossible

I'm glad we have more theoretical free thinkers in America
why is it then
that you keep electing these pseudo religious idiots to represent you?

natas6.0: why is it then that you keep electing these pseudo religious idiots to represent you?

Ron Paul is a pseudo religious idiot? i didn't vote for Romney

and given the choice between tweedle dumb (fartbama) and dumber (Rmoney) i guess i'd just vote for 'we are farked (again)'

i'm still waiting to hear if 'no confidence' is an option in our electoral process

then again does it really matter who you vote for when your society-government is Idiocracy?

//and we can all thank the IB for doing the heavy lifting to get us here
///thanks u gaiz
/thanks a bunch

Atheism is as much a religion as zero is a number.

KiltedBastich, apparently. He's got the psych degree; I'm just a clever sort of crazy.

Dammit. What an annoying time for the Berkley SDA server to drop a disk...

Yep, that was me. Still the most epic failure at that task I have ever seen, and idw's extended response to it was the reason he remains the sole name on my ignore list.

Incidentally, the Pew report's numbers indicate over 2007-2012 a rise of 28% in the overall "nones", a 20% rise in "Nothing In Particular", a 50% rise in "Atheist", and a 57% rise in "Agnostic".

So, Agnosticism seems to be growing faster at the moment.
