That is the biggest one the cop had ever seen? Either he hasn't been a cop long, or you Brits don't know what you are doing when it comes to growing pot. I suspect the former.

I'll bet they don't have glaucoma.

2012-10-09 09:51:50 AM
they grew it? I thought they bought it.

2012-10-09 09:53:02 AM
It's a farking plant.
Get over it, power freaks.

2012-10-09 09:54:14 AM
oh come on they knew they were selling the buds to the kids in town

I used to rent a house, where the backyard was pushed up against the backyard of a rental property that was rented out by the week. It was in a city with a high rate of tourism. Every few weeks or so, during the summer, I would find a pot plant growing on my property where someone has tossed their stems and seeds over my fence. I was working as a cop at the time, so I wasn't amused.

2012-10-09 09:54:40 AM
They have collected it and a spokesperson said it would be disposed of.

Perhaps in a series of small fires?

2012-10-09 09:54:56 AM
They might have thought it was a japanese maple. Or at least that's the excuse they should have used.

Oh that is a well taken care of plant right there... have I got a new hobby to pitch at retirement homes for extra $$$...

This is just ridiculous. Cops should be chasing after real criminals, not busting the elderly for a pot plant that appears to be hurting no one.

2012-10-09 10:03:08 AM
Police estimated the value of the plant at 72 trillion dollars.

2012-10-09 10:03:48 AM
Doesn't look like a grow op.

As most (if not all) pot farms in the UK are indoor grow ops, then it doesn't surprise me that they haven't seen a single plant that size before. You don't need all those extraneous shade leaves to grow bud.

If it was in Texas, the couple would've been executed.

I'm glad the British taxpayer can sleep well at night knowing that this plant has been dealt with according to the letter of the law.

2012-10-09 10:06:07 AM
£625000 estimated value.

2012-10-09 10:07:09 AM
Police first estimated they could remove a lb of bud from the plant. They then took the half pound to the station, where the quarter pound was logged into evidence.

In other news the police have a bad case of the munchies.

In Oklahoma, that couple would be facing life in prison and would loose everything that that own.

The cops and DA have been known to go after property owners where they have a remote lot that has a plant or two growing wild.

Regardless that's a good size plant, usually plants that big are not pinched out to have so many tops because they are part of a field of too many to care for on that level.

This happened to me in college! Passive aggressive roommate, when cleaning out his purchase, would put the seeds in my potted plants. Brought them home for the summer, put them in parents' sun porch where they received my mom's loving care. Voila, one morning my mom says "we need to talk mister... I wasn't born yesterday... Why is there a pot plant growing in our sun porch!?". Fun times explaining that one...

A couple observations...

They should have been clipping that bad oscar so light could get into the buds growing in the interior of the plant, so they were definitely novices and most likely ignorant of the type of plant...

It also helps disguise the plant if you can trim the leaves, especially the bigger ones that identify the plant.

Considering the the climate zone and the plant growing outdoors, its not too surprising that it is a wee bit smaller than a plant grown in a sunnier environment. I would bet the buds are small tight nubs.

Too bad, i bet it would have made some good butter for scones and tea.

I about 16 and working behind the house when I found a tray of plants that never made into the garden. My father was a high school biology teacher and had his students bring in some seeds for a lab. At the end of the year suspecting what the seeds were he brought it home to see but forgot about it. I found about five or six little seedlings growing in the back.

A question for the smoking Farkers:

That plant looks to be 6" tall, 8' around and well filled-out. How much dried weed would you (did the cops) get from that?

/and I can't believe their grandkids didn't come over and "help them with the pruning"

it didn't appear to be flowering yet. it could have very well been a male.

So much leaf coverage, its hard to tell if there is any buddage, so yea it may not be female.
That, however, is not a total loss if it is male. No buds means no smoking, and a big loss of potency overall, yet it can be rendered for other uses like butter. No street value if its male, but you could probably get quite a few gallons/pounds of butter or maybe a liter or two of oil out of it. That would be a lot of work, but in the long run good stuff.

Its hard to say however because you cannot see, as pointed out any flowering, and there could be a whole lot going on inside that canopy of leaves, but more likely inside are thin, under fed (sunlight) leaves. If the light cannot get in it effects the interior of the plants ability to grow, fill out. That whole shroud of leaves on the outside should be clipped until you can see the interior all the way to the stem/trunk.

/I don't think its 6' though, to me looked like 4'.

It looks like it might be a male... I don't see any buds on it... so the answer would be none, and kill the farker before it pollinates any females downwind.

I think his point was just that the cops diverted time away from fighting violent crimes and other worthy criminals to attend to some old couple unknowingly growing a plant in their yard. Arrests made or not, that is a waste of time and taxes.

F smoking it. I would just grow them all over the yard because they are farking amazing in the visual sense.
