On the plus side, we now have an authentic documented case of the shiat hitting the fan.

2012-10-09 11:55:21 AM

johnnyq: Owangotang: The incident is the result of multiple failures, the first being the fact that WWE sent Punk into the crowd when they know damn good and well what kind of instigator Punk is. Second failure is when arena security does not immediately surround and set up a perimeter of safety for Punk when he is on the stairs. Finally, and most importantly, the biggest failure is when Punk himself loses his sh*t and hits the fan.

The first mistake was actually going through with the stupid farking Vince wrestling thing. Vince certainly looks to be in great shape, but it still looks stupid to have your heel champion having trouble with a 67 year old "non-wrestler". If they had just left Vince in a bloody heap on the floor after Punk's initial cheap shot attack and then immediately had the Ryback run in, it might have been OK. Just don't have you're chief-heel-champion-supposed-best-in-the-world guy get beat up by a 70 year old man. Just. Don't. Maybe Punk's right about the whole no respect thing.
I take it back. The first problem was carrying on the "no respect" storyline in the first place. It makes no sense and makes everyone involved look stupid, even by WWE standards. OK, now I'm sounding like Brandon from "With Leather". Not that that's a bad thing, but he articulates the point better, so I'll just leave it here.

I agree with all of that, however while wrestling Vince and being turned from Heel Punk into Pussy Punk are mistakes they are not ones that led to the incident last night.

I get what they are trying to go for here, a guy who has legitimately proven over the past year that he is the Best in the World who only wants respect and feels he has nothing more to prove. Ryback and Cena are the same in that they don't back down, they are full steam ahead. Punk is now backing down and it sets up what I'm sure the writers think is some brilliant contrast between Punk and his two primary challengers. All it is doing is whittling away at Punk's remaining main event cache, presumably in order to benefit Ryback, right? I mean Cena does not need the help so I suppose this is all either to launch Ryback or it is just plain old incompetence.

To each their own but I'm not running around town with a shirt saying I'm some other guy's guy. The red tag team champions shirt? I could probably get away with throwing a cardigan over it and wearing it to work on Fridays.

Not that I would, but I could.

Chelsea Clinton Is Carrot Top's Lost Twin: hbk72777: New video, guy behind the bald guy is the culprit. So if this was fake, they wouldn't have a hidden pussy behind a plant doing the pushing.

???

Your link shows just the opposite. Somebody behind the wrestler first pushes him; wrestler gets annoyed at the push, looks behind himself to see who pushed him but doesn't do anything about it (time of video 0:35)... sunglasses guy goes to put on his sunglasses and accidentally hits the the wrestler in the back of the head as he brings his right hand down:

Wrestler dude then smacks sunglasses guy.

That's how I saw it. Dude with sunglasses definitely taps CM in the back of the head, but it looks completely accidental. If only the idiots around him hadn't been extra special idiots, this could have been avoided.

We are talking about the wrong issue:
TNA star Hulk Hogan appeared on the Howard Stern radio show on Tuesday morning and as you can imagine, the topic of Hogan's sex tape came up.

In response to rumors that the woman in the tape was Heather Clem (Bubba The Love Sponge's estranged wife), Hogan confirmed that it was indeed her.

Hulk said that the tape was filmed 6 years ago, when Hulk's marriage to Linda was falling apart. After Hulk was getting verbally and emotionally abused by his now ex-wife, Bubba gave Hulk his blessing to "sleep" with Clem.

Hulk admitted that he was an emotional wreck at the time and that his "performance" wasn't up to par.

Hogan says he's working with police to find out who released the tape, because he swears he didn't know he was being recorded.

Hulk vows to press charges against the perpetrator and is working to block the tape's sale/release.

Been part of the "rasslin' biz" (cute, real cute) since 2004, married to a pro wrestler who recently retired. I may know a thing or three.

Punk was in the wrong (though I put more blame with the slow-ass security). Should he be fired? No, but he shouldn't be lauded for his actions either.  If it was a fan entering the ring, on the other hand, all bets are off.

During last night's Raw televised event, WWE Superstar CM Punk exited the ring into the stands as part of the show. WWE security was unfortunately not in the appropriate place at the time. Given CM Punk's persona as a 'bad guy,' fans were naturally heckling him, but unfortunately a few fans began shoving him and one struck in him in the kidney and on the back. WWE regrets that proper security measures were not in place, and CM Punk apologizes for reacting in the heat of the moment. Other than this isolated incident, WWE always provides proper security to ensure the safety of our fans and our performers.

- WWE statement on the incident, per Link Deadspin.

1. That is not an apology from CM Punk, it is one from the WWE on Punk's behalf. Weak.

2. I am glad, however, that WWE realized Punk's actions were indy-league biatch antics and necessitated a statement of apology.

3. The statement neglects to mention that Punk is the one who set the tone in the stands by slapping people's hands away and shoving a fan to his right, well before the backhand and pieface to the sunglasses guy. You're a "bad guy" going into the stands at the end of the show, when fans are boozed up and amped up, and then you start slapping people away and shoving people? He's damn lucky he did not hit a kid or woman and he is even luckier that the fans did not do more to him. He's the one who bears the most blame in this.

Punching, slapping, shoving, ridiculing, and insulting fan may be the reason he gets no respect. The guys very much into himself. This respect thing is not just a gimmick, Punk has always demanded it. He is a great wrestler but a shiatty celebrity and I assume he likes it that way.

I honestly do think the last year and change will prove to be Punk's zenith. There is not much else WWE can do to make the guy a crossover star like Cena, Rock, or Austin. He has this myopic view of hierarchy and titles and such, just watch his DVD. He does not get that the most memorable thing he has ever done in wrestling was a pity party for himself. Watching him in the stands last night and then watching the DVD documentary today just make me feel kinda sad for the guy, he's pathetic. He has no idea that he has not ascended to the top tier, he has just raised the bar for the second bananas of the WWE.

I'm becoming more and more convinced that WWE is playing this long con type of rib on Punk and making money off of it in the process. He actually thinks he's the guy, and he may even be paid like he's the guy, but he is not the guy.

Man, you must be suffering from a serious case of blue balls, what with your hate boner throbbing all day only to find out that Punk's not going to get fired for it. And I'm sure it's getting all the more painful as you realize you're not going to get that release you're begging for as the evidence mounts that he was provoked several times and the fan that got decked was the unlucky one who touched him last.

Tell you what, go dig up the footage of Punk crashing and burning early in his career and fracturing his skull and finish yourself off to that.

Ah, the CM Punk backlash has finally began in earnest!

Though to be fair, you can't blame Punk for the beginning of his downward spiral. WWE had gold in the Summer of Punk 2, but pissed it away. Then they further ruined Punk with the drunk daddy storyline, followed by making Daniel Bryan vs. CM Punk unbearable by making Skipper the main focus of the feud.

At this point, the respect storyline rings hollow, because Punk has been a joke for nearly a year.

I would like it if it is revealed that he was the one standing up to Vince.

I like Punk the wrestler. He seems like he gives a shiat about the titles which is refreshing. But like most "punks" I enjoy what they do from a far. The closer you get to the punk they worse it gets.

I don't think he is a lifer. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if he got out sooner than later. The celebety doesn't seem like something he wants.

I will root for him in the ring because he is pretty damn good.

I said after the shiat angles of this year that Punk is getting older, beaten up, and doesn't have the candies the rest of the boys do to get him through the pain, so I think he signed this one last big contract and is just letting them do whatever they want to with him so he can collect his retirement money and get out.

I don't care if he is fired or not, I'm just reacting to the developments. I do care about fairness and consistency, however, and it does chap my ass just a bit to know that the NBA paid dearly for the Artest thing while Punk's incident last night will likely be glossed over, but whatever.

Punk was not provoked, he was the provocateur. Watch the tape. Slaps a fan's hand away, shoves the fan directly to Punk's right, and then the backfist/pieface combo. Maybe he is like totally your most favorite wrestler of all of the times and stuff but I don't really give a sh*t. Facts are facts and biatch antics are biatch antics.

I disagree. Pay attention to the man in white who also claiming to have kidney punched Punk. Should Punk have put himself in that situation? Probably not. But he has been in the crowd before without much incident. This was a fluke for him.

That's what you get for wearing sun glasses indoors.

If you look close, the guy in the white shirt behind Punk is flipping him off. Then he shoves Punk in the back of the head.

You can see it here in slo mo

MagSeven: Owangotang: The_Y2P_Problem: Man, you must be suffering from a serious case of blue balls, what with your hate boner throbbing all day only to find out that Punk's not going to get fired for it.

I don't care if he is fired or not, I'm just reacting to the developments. I do care about fairness and consistency, however, and it does chap my ass just a bit to know that the NBA paid dearly for the Artest thing while Punk's incident last night will likely be glossed over, but whatever.

Yup. Kidney punched and pushed him in the back of the head with enough force to knock it forward. At that point, he's got a right to react because for all he knew, someone could have been trying to injure him.

The big difference from that and previous instances of Punk going into the crowd was the lack of security. You almost always see security in those situations making space and keeping the fans away from the wrestlers.

Understood, and you make a well stated point. I have to counter, however, by stating again that Punk set the tone in the stands. He slapped a fan's hand away and shoved another fan well before the part that you mention. Punk is also shoved in the back hard by someone to his right well before Punk smacked the sunglasses guy, and Punk only reacted by staring towards the pusher. Right or wrong it set a tone of back and forth between Punk and the fans that escalated out of control.

Also, since it appears to have been misunderstood, I genuinely don't care what does or doesn't happen to Punk or WWE over this. I do think the guy who was smacked around deserves some sort of make good but it's not a federal case or anything. I just enjoy watching these sorts of things evolve from the time an incident happens through the aftermath. Twitter has made real time voyeurism of developing stories completely fascinating.

Yeah, I can see how Punk's attitude stoked the fire, but fans (particularly grown ass men) should know better. There's a difference between "patting" a wrestler and slapping and punching. Smacked guy deserves at least a formal apology. Hopefully they can avoid making it litigious and shower this man with tickets, freebees and whatever he wants. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. That being said. The next wrestler who has to hit somebody better make damn sure he'shiatting the right somebody.
/I wonder if Whitesleeves guy can get charged with anything if this becomes a case? Assault? Attempting to incite a riot? Disorderly conduct?
