Brick-House:
Just because the Obama friendly media says Romney lied does not make it true. Obama for nearly 2 weeks claiming some video is what caused the death of the Amabassador, now that was quite the lie.

Not parroting whatever they were saying on right-wing radio is not the same thing as lying. The initial reports coming in from embassies in muslim countries indicated there were riots because of the videos. The White House is not a news agency, that issues daily updates to news stories, nor is it tasked with issuing daily intelligence briefings.

The reason this angle is being pushed is to reinforce "the president is a muslim" theme which happens every time the President fails to call them out for being godless heretics who will burn in hell.

You're talking about Obama, right?

Explain yourself.

Well, the quick explaination is he can't be talking about Romney and after that piss poor performance by Obama and team lying about Libya... well, you do the math.

Oh, wait, I see.

Because you think that the only lie that still matters is the one that the White House may have said when they alleged that there was no terrorist attack on the Libyan consulate; which they said on 9/12 when all the facts were not in; and which has since been corrected. And because of that statement, then NOTHING Romney says matters, even when he blatantly lies and says that our Navy is worse off today than it was in 1916 and that President Obama has deliberately reduced our military strength to pre-WWI readiness. Neither of which is true, of course; but in your Republican Bizarro World, the ONLY lie anyone cares about is that 9/12 misstatement; which automatically trumps anything deliberate lie Romney might make. In your mind that is the ONLY thing anyone can think about and the ONLY thing which matters any more.

Is that correct? Have I accurately stated your position?

2012-10-08 11:16:18 PM

Notabunny: fta As he has on other occasions, Romney asserted that a president must "use America's great power to shape history," not to let events shape America. But the fact is there are no superpowers in today's world; no country has as much power to shape history-or as little immunity to the influences of others-as America did in the Cold War era. To exercise true leadership, a president must come to grips with the limits of his or her power. This has nothing to do with notions of "American decline." It has to do with the shattering of the Cold War world.

Dear Mittens. It's not the 1950s anymore. Sincerely, Everyone.

Is your name Brick-House modeled after Brick Tamland from Anchorman? Because you seem to be just as retarded.

There is a difference between a statement from the White House about a single incident turning out to be wrong and a man getting on stage in front of tens of millions of people and telling lie after lie after lie, as Romney did.

The bbc right now is saying Romney's foreign policy will be the same as Obama's.

I thought the speaker had some points and then he equivocated that both are equally dishonest in their presentations of how they would act as president.

Maybe the tea party has pushed me to heavy bias but the bbc is really pissing me off when they keep doing this. Both sides are not equally dishonest. Hell Obama did pretty much what I expected, ESPECIALLY on foreign policy.

I'm worried that the Soviets will reverse engineer our bombers. They did it in the 1940s and we've been using the same bombers for decades! They could have a fleet of them in the air and dressed in US colors as a means to trick us!

Why isn't the president ordering new bombers and phasing out the old ones?

It's not worth moving heaven and earth and spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person.

All I need to know about Romney is that he would have continued that failed Neo-con policies that allowed Osama and top level A.Q. leaders to escape from justice.

WASHINGTON, July 7 - A secret military operation in early 2005 to capture senior members of Al Qaeda in Pakistan's tribal areas was aborted at the last minute after top Bush administration officials decided it was too risky and could jeopardize relations with Pakistan, according to intelligence and military officials.

The target was a meeting of Qaeda leaders that intelligence officials thought included Ayman al-Zawahri, Osama bin Laden's top deputy and the man believed to run the terrorist group's operations.

But the mission was called off after Donald H. Rumsfeld, then the defense secretary, rejected an 11th-hour appeal by Porter J. Goss, then the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, officials said. Members of a Navy Seals unit in parachute gear had already boarded C-130 cargo planes in Afghanistan when the mission was canceled, said a former senior intelligence official involved in the planning.

No balls on the neo-cons to make the hard choices in the war on terror. They always want the easy way out.

I would like someone to point out a single lie that Romney has told. Sure, he has slightly exaggerated certain facts during speeches but that does not mean that he lied. Just because what Romney has said might not be fully true now does not mean that it will not be true at a future point. I would hardly say that Romney's speeches are filled with any more lies than any other politician.

2012-10-08 11:45:07 PM
We all know that Romney will promise anything in order to get elected. The question is, on how many of those promises will he act? Many of them he can't act on--they're mutually antipathetic, like stepping up deportation of illegal immigrants while supporting elements of the DREAM Act. Believe it or not Romney really does have a plan, one he keeps hidden I suspect because it will enrage the Right as much as the Left. The problem is, when inheriting the other party's government setup the temptation is there to change things simply for the sake of changing them. GW Bush inherited Clinton's well-designed and maintained economic system, with its reasonable and equitable taxation, firm yet friendly policies towards business and annual surpluses and said "We can do better than this! Let's change something, even though it's working fine, just so we can say we improved it." Romney may be tempted to do the same. Given a repub party that views any victory as a mandate (Bush interpreted a clear loss in the popular vote as a mandate), how will he resist that temptation? And what will the temptation be?

GAT_00: fusillade762: Finally, Romney proclaimed, "The 21st century can and must be an American century." This is where he and his advisers, many of them Bush-Cheney neo-cons, share a dangerous assumption about the world.

That part alone should scare the shiat out of anybody who's paying attention.

Those same people have been in every Republican administration since Nixon. These guys just aren't two terms wrong, they're 7 terms wrong.

We can use this opportunity to convert to a new form of energy. Find the tombs of Eisenhower, Teddy Roosevelt, and Lincoln, attach generators. Those three guys are probably spinning so fast that we could power several major cities for free. Gerald Ford might be possible, but I'm afraid the drive belt would keep slipping off.

But it was astonishing to watch Romney spin a daydream of himself as some latter-day George Marshall, bringing peace, prosperity, and hope to a chaotic world

After all, Obama and other liberals did that in 2008, how dare Romney say he can do better after Obama failed to do it?

After that it's just a full launch in to the same sort of tired spin to cover Obama's rear end that we've seen since late 2007.

I hope to God Romney doesn't win, but if he does it'll be because too many people don't want the truth anymore. They want to be charmed and seduced and told all their beliefs are valid.

Now that is a scary thought.
