This passage does not give parents blanket authority to kill their children. They must follow the proper procedure in order to have the death penalty executed against their children. I cannot think of one instance in the Scripture where parents had their child put to death. Why is this so? Other than the love Christ

There's your instance.

Step Two in the plan:

I have been assured by a very knowing American of my acquaintance in London, that a young healthy child well nursed is at a year old a most delicious, nourishing, and wholesome food, whether stewed, roasted, baked, or boiled; and I make no doubt that it will equally serve in a fricassee or a ragout.

I do therefore humbly offer it to public consideration that of the hundred and twenty thousand children already computed, twenty thousand may be reserved for breed, whereof only one-fourth part to be males; which is more than we allow to sheep, black cattle or swine; and my reason is, that these children are seldom the fruits of marriage, a circumstance not much regarded by our savages, therefore one male will be sufficient to serve four females. That the remaining hundred thousand may, at a year old, be offered in the sale to the persons of quality and fortune through the kingdom; always advising the mother to let them suck plentifully in the last month, so as to render them plump and fat for a good table. A child will make two dishes at an entertainment for friends; and when the family dines alone, the fore or hind quarter will make a reasonable dish, and seasoned with a little pepper or salt will be very good boiled on the fourth day, especially in winter.

On his campaign blog, Fuqua highlights his service on the Children and Families Committee while a member of the Arkansas Legislature in 1997.

See, THIS is the problem with American politics. More than letting religion invade our politics or letting corporations buy our politicians, the biggest problem is that people get put in legislative boards who have no business being there...

I get it, I've said it before. The 'everyman' philosophy os one of the things that makes America great. Your next door neighbor could become pPresident one day. That's cool. What isn't cool is vile assholes like this getting to serve on a governmental children's committee while also getting to campaigning for them to be put to death for being "rebellious" or "disrespecting" their parents. We don't even put ADULTS to death unless it is a very, VERY serious crime, yet this cock thinks we should be able to put kids to death for being kids?

Your GOP, ladies and gentlemen. Hope you're happy, things like this have happened because the lunatic fringe knocked on the door, and you didn't tell them to ge lost. Now they've infested your Party, like rats. Really, the Party mascot should be changed from the elephant to a rat.

How batshiat insane are "Christians" that advocate the "rebellious son" language in the bible?

Well, the Talmud thinks the "rebellious son" passage in the bible is so batshiat crazy that the rabbis spend a lot of time interpreting its requirements to be so narrow that it would never actually apply in real life to anyone ever.

(basically, if you're a "son" then you're a minor, and minors aren't responsible for their own actions and can't be put to death. If you're not a minor, then you're an adult, and adults don't have to obey their parents because they're adults. so it only applies to a man-child, i.e., a Brony).

OK, let's go to a less extreme scenario. I'm going to take my son out hunting because I don't want him to be a panty-waisted wussbag pansy when he grows up--real men kill things! But when we get out in the woods, my kid refuses to take the shot on a 10-point buck because he (gasp!) doesn't want to kill something for sport. REBELLIOUS CHILD! OFF TO THE GAS CHAMBER WITH YOU!

First, Deut 21:18-21 never mentions children--I'm not sure that a 3 year old would be a "glutton, and a drunkard" (but, now-a-days who knows). Second, if he was a Biblical literalist under the New Covenant he wouldn't be in politics in the first place (per 2 Corinthians 6:17, John 18:36 and 1 Timothy 6:10), his wife would be veiled (per 1 Corinthians 11), he would practice the Holy Kiss (per Romans 16:16, I Corinthians 16:20, I Thessalonians 5:26) etc. etc.

But more to the point, he would understand that the New Testament (i.e. New Covenant) is what is generally followed. But, I gave up on trying to figure out these guys a long time ago.

It's not like he just popped up out of nowhere.

Charlie Fuqua is a 2012 Republican candidate seeking election to the Arkansas House of Representatives, District 63. He previously served in the House from 1995 to 1998. He then ran unsuccessfully for the Arkansas State Senate in 1998.

Fuqua ran unopposed in the May 22 Republican primary and is running against James McLean (D) in the November 6, 2012, general election.

He wouldn't try selling this crap if he didn't think there was a market for it.

Let's look at the statisticals:

1. 30% of Potato's supporters support Fuqua
2. Silent majority (because they're dead)
3. 1 in 7 undecided.

Equals 51
Equals Win

It's the same BS. They use whatever argument they see fit if it is politically expedient. One day it's
"Jesus created a new covenant, the old is superceded". The next day it's "Down with homos and unruly children, it's in the Bible!!"

The theonomists don't go with whatever's politically expedient, they believe this stuff no matter what.

As long as there is a proper procedure, I guess it's OK

Children would know that their parents had authority and it would be a tremendous incentive for children to give proper respect to their parents.

So, your idea of "proper respect" is deference in the face of death?

You are a sick, sick f*ck

Makes sense, though. It's in line with the Republican belief that "proper respect" for our country in terms of foreign policy is that everyone should be scared of us bombing them.

Do we accept that he doesn't represent the GOP or shall we just brand all republicans as child killers?

Here's the thing: he has to know that these ideas are extreme, but he's putting these ideas out there because he knows that there's an audience for this kinda crap. Sure, some RINOs will try to distance themselves from him, but he knows there are Republican voters who will agree with him.

I encourage Republicans to follow through on disavowing and shunting these crazies aside.

Sadly, I think after the press has moved on, they'll pull an Akin and quietly support him again.

Lately, it seems the GOP establishment has a reaction of "Oh shiat, you're not supposed to actually say that kinda stuff out loud!"

Additionally, in Roman law the pater familias held ius vitae necisque over the household, although restrictions were introduced in the Imperial era, the right was eventually abolished by Constantine, and such executions made a capital offense under his successor Valentinian.

FlashHarry: talk about wanting to return to the 14th century!

From the Roman examples, 4th century at latest, possible 2nd or earlier.

Well we can't have both Sharia law and Fundy law. That is ludicrous. For example, Sharia says that you should stone your wife if she is raped by another man, while Fundy law says that you should shoot her and the man who raped her. One is clearly a harsher form of death.

Of course not, that would be ridiculous. It says to spend two years torturing and starving prisoners, then kill whoever survives, which is potato times more reasonable.

I'll bet he's in favor of privatized prisons using convicts as free labor, too.

Well *of course*...we certainly can't risk sending someone back into society after we've spent 2 years starving and torturing them.

The economic consequences would be dire. Instead of having a couple of kids and staying productive members of the work force, women would go back to having 8 or 9, just so they could kill a few and still have some left. It's not like you can just plan on one extra one to use as an example, because kids are so farking stupid.
