dittybopper: Would you rather some guy in Syria have his underlings fly airliners into US buildings in 12 years?

Wait, do you believe Al Qaeda sent terrorists to attack the US because we didn't engage in enough nation building?

Hey, look - a man with zero foreign policy experience expounding on foreign policy. Well, at least he's got an experienced running mate. Oh, wait - no he doesn't.

It actually *DID* work out well, right up to the point where we basically abandoned interest in the place after the Soviet pull-out. We weren't concerned with them establishing a stable government, or of shoring up the groups we armed, so we ended up paying the price later on.

Oh, and by the way, if anyone actually thinks we're not already doing this, they're pretty naive.

I love this. "In 1985 Ron boy meets with a group that didn't exist until ten years later."

Eh, Mitt, the entire point of a proxy war is that you're not supposed to admit that you're arming either side. You can be almost certain that we're already arming and coordinating with the rebels in any case, since it's pretty much an American tradition. But you don't talk about it, you moron.

"Hey Putin, we're going to arm the rebels in a civil war against your only friendly port in the Mediterranean. You cool with that? Here let me wave my dick around more if you didn't see it."

Getting in bed with rebel groups was a bad idea when Obama did it, and it's a worse idea that Romney wants to double down on it. We have no use for a proxy war with Russia and Iran in Syria, and the world police thing has got to stop.

Isn't that "leading from behind"?

Exactly what Romney said he wouldn't do?

So Romney is proposing a long term, open ended US commitment to engagement in Syria? He is embracing nation building as a stated goal of his Administration?

No he won't. Turkey calls the shots on this one, and we're not about to piss off our NATO ally over this.

What are you talking about? Ryan has voted to send Americans to war, how much more foreign policy experience do you want?

This is one of the many reasons why the Republicans should be excluded from the elections and replaced with a 3rd party candidate.

If you cannot nominate someone qualified to do the job - and you insult Americans by running this failure of a human being and his Randian sidekick then you should be treated accordingly.

So Romney's foreign policy seems to be: Keep doing what Obama is doing, but at the same time complain about how bad what Obama is doing is? Do I have that right?
