(Politico)   Boehner says no deficit deal between the election and January, doesn't want "a lot of retiring and defeated members voting on big bills". In other news, seniors don't need to attend class because they'll leave in June, so what's the point, right?   (politico.com) divider line 106

I guess Mr. Boehner is hoping the GOP has control of both houses next session. I wonder if they will still march in lockstep once they have control? Or will it be like the Dems and one or two will figure out they can get a bit more for themselves, if they hold out.

2012-10-08 10:18:26 AM
Well, we definitely don't want people making decisions without political motivations.

2012-10-08 10:20:36 AM
Yeah, because we wouldn't want to do anything important during a lame duck session, like, you know, impeaching a president.

2012-10-08 10:27:21 AM
I really wish I was a Republican so I could just flat out refuse to do my f*cking job.

But here I am, working like a sucker and earning my money.

2012-10-08 10:31:49 AM
If I'm not mistaken, their term doesn't end on Election Day, so get your asses to work.

Boehner says no deficit deal between the election and January, wants "the economy to contract on the expectation of hitting the fiscal cliff."

2012-10-08 10:35:04 AM
then I guess people who leave their job don't need to give 2 week. I mean, they are leaving, so what's the point of showing up?

Mentat: If I'm not mistaken, their term doesn't end on Election Day, so get your asses to work.

It's not like they were doing their jobs during any other part of the term.

2012-10-08 10:43:42 AM
Fark you Bohner. If sequestration hits there are going to be massive layoffs in multiple industries that will ripple through the whole economy. Do your damn job so the private sector can actually plan for the future.

2012-10-08 10:43:44 AM
He's still going to be speaker? the Republicans aren't going to replace him with something more useful, like a rock?

2012-10-08 10:44:19 AM
I see his point. We are in a representative republic and the people have said that these people no longer represent them. Maybe they can use this time to find other jobs and clear out their desks.

2012-10-08 10:53:22 AM
Boner and McTurtle are what's wrong with America.

The Stealth Hippopotamus: I see his point. We are in a representative republic and the people have said that these people no longer represent them. Maybe they can use this time to find other jobs and clear out their desks.

Yeah. Let's spend a quarter of the year without duly elected representation.

2012-10-08 10:58:57 AM
If they lose control of the House for the next term I suspect his opinion will change.

That is, assuming in such a situation his tears haven't already flooded the earth and killed us all.

ManateeGag: The Republicans aren't going to replace him with something more useful, like a rock?

I would suggest a carrot - has just the right shade of orange, and isn't prone to tears.

2012-10-08 11:09:13 AM
Because people who don't have the Norquist of Damocles hanging over their heads might vote their conscience instead of party lines?

ManateeGag: He's still going to be speaker? the Republicans aren't going to replace him with something more useful, like a rock?

LOL, that was my question. What are the odds he'll be replaced next year?

2012-10-08 11:24:48 AM
The only way Boehner can repair his legacy at this stage would be a highly apologetic suicide note.

2012-10-08 11:25:32 AM
Days in session for the last 3 months:

August: 4
September: 11
October: 2

Perhaps you should have done something about it before the elections... oh right, it's too difficult to pass big bills before elections too... useless f*ckers...

But does Cantor want to actually rule or does he prefer Boehner as his puppet?

2012-10-08 11:51:32 AM
John Boehner deserves to have every other tooth ripped out, followed by a good barbed wire flossing.

2012-10-08 11:56:47 AM
Unfortunately, there is no way Cantor is going to lose... it is not even close... and it sucks.

They're there in case of emergency. There is a reason they are called Lame Ducks.

We WANT defeated congresscritters to vote on bills, because they will be immune to lobbyist opinion. Perhaps this is what Boner fears.

No budget by the end of the year means a $1 trillion cut in defense spending, to take effect immediately. Your choice, Boehner

2012-10-08 01:02:48 PM
Alright, Boehner. Just be sure to own it when people complain why Congress hasn't come up with a plan.

Why does he still get to pull a paycheck on the taxpayer's dime, again? All he ever seems to do is drink, cry, and plan how he is going to refuse to do his job.

I'm sure that's spelled out in the Constitution, right. That they're lame ducks and are supposed to show up, collect pay checks, and not actually do any work at all. Because they're lame ducks.

2012-10-08 01:03:23 PM
In addition to being out of session until the election, now they wont be doing anything after also? I wish they would pro-rate their pay at least.

2012-10-08 01:03:31 PM

The Stealth Hippopotamus: I see his point. We are in a representative republic and the people have said that these people no longer represent them.

Except that they do still represent them.

This is the ONLY time we can actually expect them to vote with their conscience.

SacriliciousBeerSwiller: We WANT defeated congresscritters to vote on bills, because they will be immune to lobbyist opinion. Perhaps this is what Boner fears.

Not really. They are very susceptible to being bought off with future job offers, aka We will pay you $1million to become our new lobbyist

Seriously. These people are pursuing a course of action that will lead this nation into a recession. And they're doing it intentionally and gleefully.

Fark them.

Welp, we're boned.

2012-10-08 01:06:43 PM
I'll bet Boehner is that drunk guy at the bar who always cries when someone plays "She's Like The Wind" on the Jukebox.

2012-10-08 01:08:14 PM
You can point to the Bachmans ands Wests all day long, but to me Boehner really sums up how bad the GOP has become. You'll always get your fringe wackos...but when this guy is the best your House Majority can come up with to be Speaker and third in line to the Presidency you are totally farked.

We really need to amend the Constitution to reflect the 21st Century's level of transportation and communication. It doesn't take four weeks to get to D.C. by horse any more.

2012-10-08 01:09:36 PM
Republicans attack Democrats for not doing enough to get budgets done but then they shutdown when they try to do anything about it.

Really the GOP is just screwing everything up on purpose, I wish everyone would realize this.

So he favors so is forcing the budget sequestering.

So you are completely ignorant to the fact Reid said as much earlier this year when he stated he didn't need to pass a swayed budget? Please tell me again how it is republicans and nit liberals passing on their obligations. The house has passed multiple bills and budgets that Reid refuses to even send to committee. Maybe you should stop throwing rocks in that house of yours.
