The only relatively decent show (which I've heard that they're killing next season) is Warehouse 13. It made the huge mistake of catering to a crowd that doesn't watch it anymore. They days of the good shows are long gone from that channel.

Yeah, I'm with a number of folks on here. I only watch Warehouse 13, Haven (which I really like), Lost Girl, and Face Off (which is interesting and hilariously bad sometimes). I keep hoping that they'll actually come up with another good original series, a la Battlestar, Eureka, etc, which is the only thing they do well, but it always seems to be super cheap to produce junk now. Sad.

Mugato: The Learning Channel airs shows about a day in the life of a morbidly obese toddler. Mtv hasn't played a music video in a decade. The History Channel is devoted to shows about people pawning and/or hoarding shiat. Yeah, it really sucks that "SyFy" doesn't actually put out the myriad of awesome science fiction that they could but there are very few cable channels that actually have anything to do with what their acronyms or logos suggest.

I watch Alphas and I watched Lost Girl, though by the end of season 2 that was just out of sheer stubbornness to see how it ended. Don't think I'll watch season 3 unless I hear it improved. Alphas is actually a pretty good show, though. I love Gary, he has to be the more realistic representation of an autistic character I've ever seen, managing to show what his condition is without making him a stereotype. They made him funny, and kind of a domineering asshole which I think is a great choice.

Haven is great. It's like Twin Peaks lite mixed with the X-Files and Heroes (without the suck factor). There's also the game of spotting the Stephen King references every episodes.

That was a great show... but then, the BBC has a habit of creating excellent shows in that mold.

A recent favorite of mine is "The Supersizers Go..." on the Cooking Channel. Each episode has the two presenters (one is a food critic, and the other is a television writer/presenter) living - and eating - in different time periods for a week; The 40's, Renaissance, Middle Ages, 1920's, and so on.

The show is both highly informative, and extremely amusing. I recommend it.

I'ad watch that, but you'd have to balance it out a little. Maybe the "past" folks could outnumber the "future" folks 10 to 1. Then we'd see some real bloodsport.

I like Gary, Bill, Kat, and the girl with the super senses that I can't remember the name of right now. I was a bit disappointed they sent Kat away, she's much more interesting to me than Cameron or the girl that "pushes" people.

The biggest problem I seem to have with the show is that it picks up threads and occasionally just drops them. Things like super senses girl bringing that guy with the scars to meet her parents. They spent a good bit of time showing her worrying about it, and we don't hear how it goes for 3 or so episodes. Gary's mom is another one. You would think she'd visit or that Gary would visit, but you never hear anything after he moved into the offices. The girl who "pushes" people, she had her issue and stopped pushing people when it's not needed, so she got kicked out of her ritzy place. So now what? Little things like that. I think it's mostly due to the shows writers trying to show too much at once, and they still haven't gotten that balance between character development and main plot development down just yet, which is a shame.

From the episodes I watched, it seemed their major problem was being a big group of pussies and hippies. They tried to negotiate out of everything instead of just gearing up and kicking some ass. Sure, they took one or two swings to defend their home base, but they needed to just straight conquer the area.

The tile the tank is sitting on is an resource square for the city that's been developed as a village improvement, they grow over time into hamlets etc and provide primarily coin.

Gary and Bill is one of the best pairings on television right now. They have really good chemistry.

As for the super-senses girl (I can never remember her name, so I just refer to her as The Sentinel), I'm not a fan of her sudden office romance. The first few episodes of it felt really forced and none of it seemed natural at all. I get what the show was going for with character development, but something about it just seems "off".

I'm excited to see what the show will be like with Rosen and Hicks going rogue.

Judging by the preview for tonight's episode it looks like Kat is back, and looks like Rosen has the team being a bit more cavalier.

I'm kind of curious why they sent Kat to the training if she's just going to forget the non-physical aspects of it in a month or so.

I do wish the Syfy channel didn't feel the need to cut out a few scenes on every episode of Lost Girl so they could fit in more commercials. Then again they do that with pretty much every show they bring in. It was really annoying the crap they cut out of Doctor Who before cancelling the show to fit in more reality shows.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess Stargate dvd sales are about 4,000 times higher than Ghost Wrasslin' dvd sales. I alone have well over a thousand dollars worth of great television shows sitting on my shelves. While they may be torrented up front, a lot of scifi fans like owning the dvd's of their favorite shows for rewatching, knowing damn well it could be another 10 years before another decent scifi show comes on.

If an executive of a major television network can't be bothered to factor dvd sales into his profitability, he doesn't deserve his bloated salary.

The bottom line is that reality shows are 10x cheaper to make and run about the same risk of bombing as a fully hashed out big-budget series, and that just tickles these networks silly.

My wife watches a lot of these shows like Face Off and ... um ... names, names ... Project Runway? ... the creative type shows ... I actually don't mind them so much, but I wish the show would give them about twice as much time to really give the artists ample allowance to let their creativity roar so we could see what they could REALLY do. I mean, I LOVE seeing the final product a lot more than whatever squabbles or manufactured drama they come up with while making stuff. Also, the hosts coming in halfway and criticizing their work/redirecting their creativity nags the hell out of me for some reason.

90 bucks a season for a show?

Only if it's Star Trek.

The average price of a season of a TV show is 20-30 bucks on release day. And give it a few months, and you can find most anything for under 20 bucks if you wait for sales or buy it used.

There are some exceptions... Doctor Who, for example, which is always over 50 bucks per season after the release week discounted price. But Eureka or Warehouse 13? Right now, every season available of both shows is going for 25 bucks or less on Amazon.

Yeah, most shows are quite affordable if you catch them on sale. I'd need a couple terabytes to hold all the shows I own. The ony stuff that gets real expensive are HBO shows, but you really get what you pay for with those HBo seriea. I just finished buying/watching Deadwood. farking amazing show and well worth the cash spent.
