So, kinda like Romney's American, then.

Seriously, who watches that shiat? I've never met anyone who admits to watching anything other than Warehouse 13 on SyFy.

Wow, that channel is really swirling around the drain.

Heh.

I just came in here to say that I expect Warehouse 13 to be canceled after the back 10 episodes of the season air in 2013, and the final reason to bother watching Siffy will be gone.

I watch Face Off and now Hot Set on SyFy, but only because those are particular areas of interest for me.

actually, I think this show concept has more class mobility than Romney's economic vision for the USA.

Last year I cut down my cable package which excluded SyFy, just to beef up my download speeds with the same money. I have yet to see a down side.

Someone said that "Alphas" has gotten pretty good this season. Haven't watched, though. And I was enjoying "Lost Girl" (I know that one's not an original of theirs) for a while but it just became unwatchably pants-on-head stupid.

I watch Haven and Lost Girl.

The Learning Channel airs shows about a day in the life of a morbidly obese toddler. Mtv hasn't played a music video in a decade. The History Channel is devoted to shows about people pawning and/or hoarding shiat. Yeah, it really sucks that "SyFy" doesn't actually put out the myriad of awesome science fiction that they could but there are very few cable channels that actually have anything to do with what their acronyms or logos suggest.

Syfy was never an all science-fiction channel. That's just a myth people say in order to whine about the current line-up.

Alphas

,Haven and Warehouse 13 are the only SyFy shows I watch. "Lost Girl" has lost its charm.

If it actually compares groups of humans operating under different levels of technology, that is pretty Sci Fi.

Anyone else remember the build up to the channel launch...the timer, the marathon of great/crappy/old sci-fi shows?

Wasn't there a channel that did that?

There was indeed. It disappeared about five years ago.

FTA: In Opposite Worlds, twenty people from all walks of life are mixed together in two opposing teams that live in two distinctly different worlds - the Past and the Future. The Future is a Utopia where every wish can be granted with a push of a button; the Past is a constant struggle for survival. Each week, players compete in a series of challenges to determine who lives in the Past and who lives in the Future.

I'm guessing that the "players" are not part of the two groups and get to judge the end results of the challenges without knowing who made them, right?

Face Off is actually pretty interesting and is at least somewhat related to Sci Fi. They do some pretty impressive work in very little time.

SyFy is a painful channel to watch now.

The only relatively decent show (which I've heard that they're killing next season) is Warehouse 13. It made the huge mistake of catering to a crowd that doesn't watch it anymore. They days of the good shows are long gone from that channel.

It's so absurd now.

This would be cool if the "past" people had to survive as hunter-gatherers using stone tools, with no help available whatsoever, while the "future" people lived in an arcology and hunted the "past" people for sport, preferably with lasers. It would be the best reality show ever.

So, a reality show based off of Thundarr the Barbarian?

SyFy made 500 million last year - by not putting on shows that people torrent and instead putting on shows that people tune in to at broadcast time. That's why you don't see traditional Science Fiction shows anymore. The audience for those shows don't watch them when they are broadcast. Stargate Universe and Eureka killed it on the rankings on Torrentfreak - but couldn't get enough *real* viewers to justify their production costs.

Great, before you know it, there will be reality shows featuring Pagan Mothers entering their kids into cosplay pageants, and atheist family who refuses to breed and star trek themed wedding bridezillas.

And "Chiller" airs continual episodes of "Fear Factor" and "Ripley's Believe it or Not".

I mean, I guess SOMEONE is watching TV nowadays, but it's hard to imagine who.
