Okay, here's your 'Cliff Notes':

- Kubrick directed the Apollo 11 landing
- He rewrote Stephen King's screenplay in a bizarre manner
- Danny wears an Apollo 11 sweatshirt
- There are two eagles and an American flag in the hotel managers office
- The red VW in King's adaptation was changed to yellow, and in the opening scenes is traveling 'Going-To-The-Sun' road.
- Kubrick made the caretakers murdered daughter into twins, denoting the Gemini project.
- Room 237 equates to the 237,000 miles to the moon.

/ It's actually rather amusing, if you enjoyed "The Shining"

The Shining had lots of subtle messages, but the guys behind this theory obviously missed all of it. The Americana things were a really obvious part of it.

One cool thing I remember about The Shining was that the hotel was a huge set. All the interior shots were from a soundstage.

Not that I buy into that whole fake moon landing thing, but next time I watch Barry Lyndon and Eyes Wide Shut, it'll be with an eye toward the idea of the protagonists of those movies representing Kubrick himself, and his dealings with 'the very best people".

I skipped to somewhere in the middle where he was talking about the room 237 tag. The image showed;

ROOM No.

237

So he goes off on how you drop the lowercase 'o' you can spell MOON and ROOM. MOON ROOM! Clear evidence that the lunar landings were faked.

Incidentally, I can spell a word from 'ROOM N' as well, and it uses all the letters. MORON.

Not really interested in watching the rest of the equivalent of the DaVinci Code. Good God, that was... desperate.

There was a movie at Fantastic Fest this year called "Room 237" that included this and a bunch of other "explanations" about what The Shining was actually about. It was more about obsessive personalities than the actual movie.

It's amazing how the government has been able to keep all those scientists and engineers employed, building a vehicle that they knew wouldn't work, completely silent on the issue. Seriously, that feat alone, never mind tricking other technologically advanced countries, is way more difficult to achieve than a moon landing.

If the Americans had faked the moon landings the USSR would have been all over that. I highly doubt their "conspiracy" reached all the way to the Kremlin. It's good to be questioning, it's good to be sceptical but conspiracy theorists are neither. No amount of evidence, logic, or even common sense can convince them to deviate from their delusions.

Hell the Japanese took satellite photos of the Apollo landing site a decade ago, are we expected to believe that the Japanese government is also in on the conspiracy?

Not as desperate as The Shining Code pointing out that the movie playing on the TV is "Summer of '42," which title "has eleven letters".. um, I guess, if you count the apostrophe. Oh, and every single instance of two distinct vertical elements near each other represent "11" (even if there are more of them), and every single angled apex represents an "A" (even though Colorado -- where King himself placed the original story -- is *filled* with snow-shedding peak roofs). The maze doesn't really exist, because it's part of the 'illusion' -- though there are really obvious reasons why you can't see it in the exteriors of the real-life Timberline Lodge, which had no maze, and wouldn't let him build one there, even temporarily. And the 217/237 thing? 217 is the room number King stayed in at the Stanley Hotel that inspired the story. The Timberline asked Kubrick to change the number because they have a real Room 217, and didn't want guests being all weird about it. Anyway, average lunar distance is actually closer to 239,000 miles, but inconvenient numbers are inconvenient.

zerkalo: We just put a hunk of metal on Mars. But, yeah, the Moon was out of our reach

My mother was an historian, and firmly held that conspiracies are anathema to human nature, that people just can't keep secrets. Heinlein held that, "More than three people can't agree on when to have lunch," never mind perpetrate successful secret schemes. And Ben Franklin said, "Three may keep a secret, if two are dead." The Gunpowder Plot, one of the most famous (yet very few) real-life conspiracies in history, was spoiled by a tattler. The Battle of Thermopylae? Spoiled by a tattler. Most shady government operations? Exposed by tattlers. Humans just can't keep secrets, period. Even ignoring that, we're asked to believe that an administration that couldn't figure its way out of the quagmire of Vietnam was somehow able to execute this grandest of all hoaxes, and that literally thousands of people kept their mouths shut for over four decades now. Some NASA folk of the period have gone a bit strange by now and said some weird things, but to my knowledge not a single person actually in a position to know such a thing firsthand has ever suggested the moon landings were a hoax -- *multiple* hoaxes, at that.

Also, this.

The Shining had lots of level of meaning in it, and both Apollo (a sun god which represents "Shining"), and 11 to represent the duality which everyone who shines possess wouldn't be lost on Kubrick regardless. To try to make the whole movie about some inane conspiracy theory is missing the forests for the trees.

thank you #2 for saving me huge time, i didn't have the patience. this YT - i don't even know who is feeding me their conspiracy/opinion, or why. i'm thinking if Mr.Kubrick had wanted the audience to know this incredible amount of in-depth symbolism explaining shenanigans he was directly involved in, the man, the master would have made at least a short film to be released upon his death which would expose the whole nine yards.

good lord. this crap i don't believe. i do believe the rich & powerful that manipulate the USA made the twin towers 9-11lie happen but god forbid i mention that opinion on Fark. that, that's just kooky. just ask Hitler about Poland. he'll tell you the same.

Idiots. Can't you see the real point? Yes, on the surface it looks like a video about a conspiracy theory revealed by The Shining. But if you pay even the slightest amount of attention you can tell it has a hidden message explaining the existence of chemtrails. I don't know how much more obvious it can be.

Anyone who's REALLY in the know knows that he's really emulating the Sun God Rituals (Golden Rey) to appease subterranean Reptilian descendants of a distant Latin American feathered serpent god who are locked in a war with the propaganda wing(Halloran) of a Radical Left Movement of pale gray alien/human hybrids(Wendy Torrance)and their overlords(Danny).
Kubrick valiantly shows the struggle in Jacks attempts to do the proper blood sacrifice by cutting out Halloran's heart.
John Carpenter pays tribute to Kubrick's message with his combination of Blair's secret ship and Nauls' complete disappearance in 1982's summer romance comedy, The Thing,
and who could miss Ridley Scott's famous allusion to it in both Nick Cage's tense repeating of the phrase "Pygmies!" from Matchstick Men and the layouts of the buildings and general snakeshapedness of tiny goo-altered wormy guys in Prometheus. Also, LV426 is obviously an anagram for 2 Veals, which was the animal equivalent of a human sacrifice at the time.

If I didn't know already, I'd say....................GOOOSEBUMPS?

The best thing about conspiracy theories are when you get them fighting each other. Pit the "moon landings never happened" conspiracies against the "secret Apollo missions continued but were kept hidden because they uncovered alien evidence" conspiracies.

They faked the moon landings, but built the soundstage over top of the crash site of an alien spacecraft.

I can't believe I watched the whole thing. Yes there is symbolism in The Shining. Kubrick, like all good directors, put symbolism in virtually every frame. However this guy is seeing things that aren't there. It IS a metaphor about America and Americans wrapped up in a horror motif but that is the ONLY thing this clown got right.

I watched the whole thing too (on another screen). As bananas as it is, it was surprisingly watchable.

There's a much better video out there, not about this ludicrous fake landing stuff, about all the subtle things Kubrick did to make the viewers feel unsettled, to give the sense that there's something wrong with the hotel itself. A lot of it has to do with geometry that doesn't make sense, but it's subtle enough that it doesn't quite register consciously. A number of the things that fake landing nuts point to are the same elements. What they interpret as signals that the landing was fake are actually cues that the hotel is not quite what it appears to be, that it can trick the mind, and so on. For example, the door to the storeroom reverses while the manager is giving the tour. Kubrick doesn't make those kinds of mistakes: it's done deliberately, as a very subtle cue that the hotel causes people to see it differently from moment to moment.

"Nope."

Love,

Stanley Kubrick
