when will alabama play someone?

So beating #4 means you get to be the new #4?

They're still number one after failing to score against their inter-conference rival, Bye? I say toss 'em!

It was a great weekend to be a Gator. Florida finally seems to be back, FSU lost to a crappy team and Georgia got absolutely pounded.

The downside is when the workweek begins tomorrow, you're still a Gator.

Things that I did not expect to see in my lifetime: Duke getting votes in the AP Top 25 poll for football. Yikes.

2012-10-07 06:47:19 PM
What? My Huskers were drop-kicked out of the top 25? But they looked great against the Buckeyes after the first quarter ended last night.

...that game ended after one quarter, right?

Ugh...what is Michigan doing in the top 25 again? And who are the crackheads who gave Nebraska any votes at all? In fact, they just should have put out a top 20 this week because there aren't 25 teams worth ranking. Still, it's better than the coaches' poll: TCU and Iowa State both in the top 25? Yikes.

One thing to watch: CBSSports projects that there will only be 67 bowl-eligible teams. Sure, some of this guy's picks are retarded (I think La Tech is more likely to get a BCS at-large than Boise, for instance). But get excited for some 6-6 vs. 5-7 action in CFB's amazing postseason.

After so many years of South Carolina winning about as often as as a cat wins Westminster, it's nice to see them doing well the past few years.

Yawn. I only care enough to post about how much I don't care.

It's too bad nothing will come of Ohio State being a top ten team. I guess that's the price you pay for being on a team whose players sold awards for food money.

Clemson was way over-ranked last week at 15. Glad to see that was sorted out this week.

Psychohazard: Clemson was way over-ranked last week at 15. Glad to see that was sorted out this week.

If they didn't overrate Clemson, how could they justify FSU's rating? Then NC State beat them so they could stop acting like the ACC had competent teams.

I'm sure I'm totally alone on this one but Iowa State probably deserves a little more credit for beating ranked TCU at TCU. But hey, we can't pass the opportunity to put a garbage 3-2 Michigan in the Top 25 now can we?

Fair enough, but 3-2 Michigan? I'd be happy with Ohio on there too.

Oh well.

Agreed. I want to see rankings based on the team's performance this year alone, not on being a household name (like my Huskers). I'd put the Ohio Bobcats against anyone 16-25 on this list. But nope... gotta put a 3-2 Big Ten team (again - we're talking this year's Big Ten, not the brand) in over an undefeated team that will be a conference champion and, more than likely, earn a solid bowl victory. Because (cave man voice) MAC bad, Big Ten good.

AKTurkey: Huh, I never knew you could eat tattoos.

This bears repeating, especially combined with that alleged player tweet on Friday. I like Ohio State, but their program and culture might need some more significant outside scrutiny. Assigning a higher value to football than to everything else in the university is a good way to breed another Sandusky.

/can we turn Sandusky into a verb with that meaning?

If SC can beat both LSU and Fla, then they should be #2 if not #1.

2012-10-07 08:16:04 PM
There is no way in hell LSU is a top 10 team as they are still in the coaches poll.
They are looking like at least a three loss regular season team with the schedule ahead and someone else could surprise them too since their offense is kind of terrible. They will have three losses minimum going into bowl season.

LSU and Florida are both above-average teams. LSU has a great defense but can't run a ball to save its life, and Florida is so bad they barely outscored the most anemic offense since, well, insert any anemic offensive cliche here.

Every mark Richt coached team ranked in the top 10 needs an asterisk that says *"warning team coached by an overpaid complacent coach, results may vary"

You do realize that wont happen, right? They wont allow it the year before the playoffs thing starts so people can quit wishing for them to get to number 1 or 2.

Well, the offense is talented this year. Last year's excellent defense somehow reverted to high school level tackling over the offseason.

Overambitious, but if they can knock off Stanford and Oklahoma (and not go and somehow lose to BYU in between) they'll be in the top 5. The teams above them by virtue of playing one another are going to have to notch up losses, and somebody in the top 6 is going to get upset.

And say what you want about who they've played, fact is they're #2 in points per game allowed, the offense is suspect, but that defense is for real.

Go Irish.

If they can beat Stanford, and beat Oklahoma in Norman, the Notre Dame @ USC could be one of the biggest Game Day of the decade.

Go golden hurricane.

Tulsa gets 2 votes. 5-1 if they keep winning, which if you saw their schedule they won't be challenged until Nov 9th against a beatable Arkansas razorbacks & boom if Tulsa can beat Houston and win conference USA,

No chance for BCS with one loss, but on the climb

Florida's passing game sucks, however, they won that game because their running game is starting to click and they're going the old school smash mouth football route. It's not what you usually see in the SEC, but it seems to be working for them.
