There's 5 Starbucks within half a mile of my house, and I live in a small town in North Carolina. Four of those are independent stores, and not Starbucks tucked away in a Target or grocery store. When my boyfriend and I head up to Manhattan to visit his family, there's one practically on every block. You'd think it would be hard for any one location to make any money, since there's so many nearby, but the lines are routinely out the door, and they're always packed.

Meh. There's one less than 6 blocks from where I live, but if I wanted a fancy hot beverage I'll travel a bit further and visit the nearest Dutch Bros. They make a really delicious hot chocolate.

From my office, there is a starbucks not 50 yards up one cross street, another one 30 yards the other direction on that same cross street, and thena 3rd maybe 40-50 yards down the street my office is on.

There's an Alterra about 500 ft from my back door. Stone Creek Coffee's just across the street from Alterra, and my beloved Anodyne Coffee's maybe a mile down the road. If I really wanted to go to Starbuck's that would be a half mile even further away, and I hate that shiat.

This just in: There are a lot of Starbucks coffee places in America.

There's a Subway on every street corner here, it seems, and nobody's ever in any of them. They're the Radio Shack of fast food chains.

There's a Starbucks a few miles from me that I ignore every day as I drive past. I'll stick with Dunkin' Donuts coffee or my GMCR k-cups, thanks.

The only thing that keeps most of southwestern Kansas from being over 100 miles from a Starbucks is one kiosk in a Target in Garden City. Same for many other rural areas. I'm of the opinion that a Target/grocery counter that barely has any Starbucks equipment might be stretching the case a bit.

Let's see there's one a five-minute walk south, another a 10-minute walk west, another a 10-minute walk northeast. Oh and another probably 5-minutes away in a grocery store.

/I'll bet there are 30 of 'em within 10 minutes of driving time - plus probably 20 independent coffee shops.

I always wondered why we don't have a Tim Horton's around here. We're close to Canada so it seems like it would be a good location to expand into.

Unless Google Maps can't be trusted, the Northern-most Starbucks in Canada is in Whitehorse, Yukon, and thus just North of the Alaska panhandle.

McDonald's not only has a restaurant in Whitehorse, but another in Yellowknife, a bit further North, as well as three in Fairbanks, Alaska, and one at North Pole. No, not that North Pole. No, not the other North Pole. The one in Alaska.

Judging from the map, it's hard to find a McDo in Mexico outside of some resort areas and Mexico City.

Texas appears to be lining the border with them to prevent illegals from penetrating any further into the US.

I live in northern Ontario, Canada.
Before that, I lived in Nova Scotia.
not only can I say I have never had a Starbucks, I can honestly say I have never even seen one.
(and I am happy with that)

I wish Sonic served real coffee. It's all decaf, so I can't get my morning coffee with a scrambled egg wrap.

There's no protein in the breakfast offerings at Starbucks. And I refuse to go the Bainized Dunkin Donuts.

Meh, less than 2 blocks for me. There's also a fancier coffee shop that opened right across the street from it, and it seems to be doing decent business. I can count on one hand the number of times I've been to either one in the last year.

It's good if I'm on the road and need a quick caffeine fix, but otherwise I'll grind my own beans. Cheaper that way, and infinitely better.

There's actually two(!). At least there was a couple of years ago. And speaking of Starbucks in proximity to other Starbucks, downtown Vancouver has (had?) two Starbucks on diagonal corners of the same intersection. Somewhere on Robson Street, as I recall.

Also, I think TFA fails mightily for including only company-owned Starbucks and not franchises, or Starbucks inside grocery stores, airports, etc. I suspect it's a lot less than 100+ miles to the nearest one (at least in the lower 48) when you include those.

When I was in Ontario more than a few years ago I was at an intersection with two tim horton's on opposing sides and a wendy's on another and inside the wendy's was a tim horton's.

Go on Queen West in Toronto and there's a Starbucks about every 3 blocks. Down on King there is a Starbucks across from a Starbucks. It's not directly across, it's more like across and about 5 minutes walk East, but the two are within sight of each other. Lewis Black would approve.

When I moved where I am now, there was another, presumably older, Starbucks across the street and on the other side of the block from the one I mentioned before, across the street from a grocery store with a Starbucks stand inside. I assume the company originally had wanted just one store in that block, but wanted to move to the better corner. The first one took a pretty long time for this one to close, though... I guess maybe they had a long lease.

he's from new york, probably accepted it. around penn plaza (34th and 7th), there's roughly 6 within a block of each other. 2 are in penn station lirr waiting area, 1 at penn plaza, 1 across from the enterance of penn station, 1 around the opposite corner on the previous one, and 1 in macy's. there's also 4 mcdonalds on that block as well.

Here in St Pete Florida, there are a good bit of Starbucks, but it doesn't feel like the complete saturation you see elsewhere.

Of note, I don't normally even shop Starbucks EXCEPT for this time of year, as I am fond of their pumpkin bread and pumpkin/cheesecake muffins. The only place that still has those treats after 4pm are the locations inside Targets & such (all freestanding stores sell out of the pumpkin baked goods by midafternoon).

One muffin equals like 18 weight watchers points, but sometimes you have to just enjoy sh*t.
