Krymson Tyde: I used to smoke cigarettes; quitting was one of the hardest things I've ever done.I used to smoke a lot of marijuana (2-3 oz/week) then I took a job where random drug tests were a possibility; I stopped smoking with no side effects.
b0rscht: Assholemitter is trying to be cute; the article states the opposite. The advice given is good advice and the article is insightful about cannabis addiction. I've always felt that one of the most insidious things about pot is that you can do it all of the time and it won't send you to the gutter; it's relative harmlessness is what makes it especially sneaky, because if you overdo it, there are downsides that are rather slippery and difficult to pin down.I lurves me weed, and the best way I've found to deal with this is to not seek it out. If it finds me, great; but gone are the days where I always had to have it and smoked it daily. If it ever becomes legal, I will have to drum up some willpower to avoid doing it all of the time... but that's a problem I'd love to have.
iaazathot: Is it that time of the year for false information about marijuana again?
Weaver95: That said, for some people, marijuana is a wickedly difficult master. Ironically, its (relatively) low cost and the lack of obvious severe negative consequences from frequent use make spotting problems and changing behavior more difficult:this statement makes little sense.
omgwtfetc: Speaking as a daily toker, I thought this was a pretty good article.
iaazathot: All my adult friends have successfully stopped smoking weed.
muddythinker: I call bullshiat on this one. I have known scores of alcoholics, and maybe more than a hundred nicotine addicts in my life, and only one maryjane addict. I also know there are clinical studies showing this not to be the case, but I'm too lazy to look this up.
give me doughnuts: QUitting tobacco was hard. Quitting pot was as easy as waking up the next morning.
orbister: give me doughnuts: QUitting tobacco was hard. Quitting pot was as easy as waking up the next morning. So you were addicted to tobacco but not to pot,
basemetal: Just a small fraction of marijuana users ever try any drug beyond alcohol and cigarettes.Meh, don't believe that at all. Maybe they don't all go on to become heroin addicts, but I do believe many of them will take one of their friend's xanax, vicodin or adderall here or there.
muddythinker: The Fark headline is misleading.
Acharne: omgwtfetc: Speaking as a daily toker, I thought this was a pretty good article.Checks profile. Oh, Canadian, colour me shocked ;P/Passes the bong//SK
oliass: Ibogaine is the answer. After trying everything under the sun, Myself, my wife, my mom, and my brother all quit nicotine through an ibogaine treatment. That was years ago and none of us have smoked since.
logistic: I agree. As a nurse, I saw so many patients shaking and vomiting during marijuana detox. Alcohol detox literally killed patients, but not nearly as many as marijuana detox. Once I saw a marijuana addict vomit his own large intestine out from withdrawal.Such a shame.
Snarcoleptic_Hoosier: I've tried weed, alcohol, gambling, sex, tobacco, shopping, video games, and opiates. I'm addicted to being addicted to things.
muddythinker: The Fark headline is misleading. Even the author says:
give me doughnuts: That's because pot isn't really addictive.

TexasScout: I call BS. I quit in 1989 cold turkey after 14 years of DAILY heavy pot smoking and I never looked back. Wish I had never started.
Fark Rye For Many Whores: smoking pot cold turkey//let me read that again
Truncks1: It is really easy to quit smoking weed. Its not anything close to nicotine. And I was just as unproductive before and after. Its all insane bullshiat.
JonnyG: Having just smoked a big fattie, that cold turkey is sounding pretty damned good right about now...
